The thing I don't understand the most about Maymon leaving is how it is completely against what his father wanted.

I thought Tim Maymon wanted his son to have a one and done opportunity to go to the NBA.

By transferring, J May has now set that back at least a year.  But the chances of him playing one half of a season and then going to the NBA are slim if not none.  So in essence they have turned their one and done to at least a three and done.

Do father and son not think that there might be a better chance of a three and done by staying at Marquette?  He would have had a great chance to start next season once Hayward was gone and he would have been an even bigger impact once Jimmy Butler is gone.  On top of that, J May and Vander could have been part of a team maybe next year but for sure the following year to have a serious NCAA tournament run.

Finally, if they think a college like Central Florida provides J May with a NCAA tournament run or any kind of future in the NBA then they are greatly mistaken.  I hope for his future's sake that he picks a team like Tennessee or maybe Baylor.  Otherwise he has thrown his professional basketball dreams in the trash.

Good points.  Hopefully J-May will find himself a good situation.  I think he was in a good situation, now he's got to go look for anther one.  Hope it works out.

SWARM!

I'm convinced that Tim Maymon was not wild about Vander coming to Marquette.  This is not a rumor; merely my opinion.  I think, in his eyes, Jeronne shared the spotlight a bit the last 2 years with Vander and probably wasn't crazy about him coming in and being a possible focal point in the offense.  Definitely not the main reason, but possibly a consideration.

Add to that Butler, EWill, and Jamail Jones could all be playing time at the three next year.  I think they saw JMay "stuck" at the four.

And of the last 2 "4s" we've had, one is in the NBA and one has a good shot.

ya, because our current "4" never gets a chance to shoot or be a part of the offense... idiots

Hey Vikings, I like what you've done with the basement.

Wouldn't they have to pick him first?
Not to bash the kid, but in all reality he's done nothing but hurt his standing among college coaches. Essentially, he's a kid walking around with a sign reading caveat emptor around his neck.

Seriously, all this talk of Maymon and the NBA is just so idiotic - especially when it gets to the point of "One and Done". I mean are you kidding me? Let's get something straight here.......Maymon has a very slim chance of ever making the NBA. His game and body type just don't translate well at all to that league. Could he turn out to be a very good college player? Sure, but I see him as becoming a "good" college player at the high D1 level, which is obviously pretty darn good. He just needs to get out of Tim's shadow and be giving his own space and I think he can succeed.

I'd like to see someone ask Tim Maymon point blank if he thinks his son is better than John Wall.

I really feel sorry for the kid.  Who knows if this is what he wants at all.  It seems like he is a pawn to his dad's ego.  Its really quite sad.  I hope he gets a situation that works out for him.

I was naming Tennessee and Baylor because according to what I have read, they have already contacted Tim Maymon.

Maymon doesn't need to be better than John Wall to succeed in (or even be drafted by) the NBA. I'd ask the question "where does he think Jeronne would go in the 2010 draft?" 2011?

Shouldn't there be a pronunciation for this name?

DURHAM, N.C. (AP)—Olek Czyz (CHIZZ) is leaving the Duke (Dook) basketball (hoops) team. Czyz (CHIZZ), a native of Poland (PO LAND) played at Reno High School and averaged roughly 10 (TEN) minutes in the six (6) games he played.

Mike (MI KEY) Krzyzewski (shuh-SHEFF-sky) says the program will support Czyz (CHIZZ) through this ordeal.

A native of Poland (PO LAND) should feel right at home in Milwaukee, famous for Charnina (CHAR KNEE NA), Kielbasa (KEEL BAAAH SUH), Stuffed Cabbage (STUFFED CAB EDGE), and Easter Butter Lambs (EAST URR BUTT UR LAMMS).

Well, yes, but when thinking of "freshmen who are NBA ready," John Wall's the only name that popped into my head, and if TM thinks that JM is 1 and done, then he has to be close to wall, hence my question.

Vander is definitely considered a bigger signing.  Vander will also be a lock at the 2 spot where Jmay wants to be?
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.
