I got stuck on the road recently when one of my power plants crapped out and they had to do an engine pull. So, sitting in a freezing hangar watching the History Channel at 1:00 am I saw the background of Wisconsin Badger. It has nothing to do with the animal. No, it's a reference to the lead miners who burrowed into the cliffs along the Mississippi River. They mined by day and made the burrows their home. Pretty fiercesome stuff.

I also didn't know that the full name of the Mascot was "Buckingham U. Badger"

Buckingham???  bwahahaha....

News to me about lead mines in Wisconsin along the Mississippi but I am not a history buff.  There are some good bluffs from Redwing to LaCrosse though.
