Rules on Recruits Visiting

I was just wondering, what is really the difference between an official visit and an unofficial visit?  Can a school pay for the official but not unofficial?  Is tehre a maximum amount of contact the team can have on an unofficial visit whereas an official visit would have unlimited access to the team?

Unofficials are paid for by the player.

Officials are paid for by the University, are limited to 48 hours in length, and the player is limited to 5 official visits.
