Hayward, U.S. win U-Games opener

MU senior forward Lazar Hayward grabbed eight rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench as the United States rolled past Finland, 87-40, in the teams' opener in the World University Games on Friday in Belgrade, Serbia.

Hayward added three points, two assists and a block as the U.S. held Finland scoreless over the final 8 minutes 50 seconds.

Iowa State's Craig Brackins had 12 points and nine rebounds for the U.S., which had saw all 12 players score.

The U.S. closes out the preliminary round at 1 p.m. Saturday against South Korea.

Man...Lazar is lookin' pretty lean, and this pic has me wondering how much Zar is actually handling the ball...it'd be great if he were able to develop some handles!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, USA!
