I put together some clips of Maymon from a FSN show featuring Madison Memorial.

Wow he finishes really well with his right. Is he a natural righty and shoots left? because around the hoop it looked like he went for his right hand and on breakaways he quickly got the ball in his right hand to dribble.

MUfan12

Maymon's game is hard to classify, but the kid can ball. If he can work on his jumper, getting a bit quicker release, he will be very tough to stop.

Big, strong, but very agile. Very good with the bounce for his position, as well as an outstanding passer. Really knows how to maneuver in the post. Has the same nose for the ball that Lazar does. He's got the potential to be a matchup nightmare.

This team will be a lot of fun to watch with the versatility, size, and athleticism Buzz has added.

The move he makes at 2:23 is just awesome.  Would love to see that move when he puts on about 15 more lbs of muscle.  Agreed, he's a great finisher.  He's going to be a good one!

nice to finally see a decent highlight reel of his.  Great finisher for sure.  I am very excited to see our 7-8 new guys play next year.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Ready2Fly

My favorite parts of the video are: 1) When he tears down the rebound, immediately dribbles the length of the court, then sets up his teammate with a perfect pass & 2) the FT line extended jumper that 'Zar made a killing on this past year.

He looks like he plays with a chip on his shoulder like McNeal.  Totally different games, but the same attitude.

Agreed, that clip made me stop and rewind a couple times. His footwork and body control were impeccable on that move, and combined with his size and quickness.... wow.

AZWarrior

He handles the ball real well for a big.  I don't see him playing the 2, however.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Someone want to explain why TC wasn't interested in him?

Somewhat of a late bloomer with some academic issues.  Remember that his other offers were Baylor and Iowa State.  We caught him as he got hot!

THEGYMBAR

Love his right side skills and looks like a man playing with boys. He looks like he is ready for BE, which not a ton of Freshmen can do.

Wasn't he the WI HS player of the year LAST year, too?

Maymon could be the 2nd coming of charles barkley

Yes.  But it wasn't until the state tournament that he really blossomed...and then had a monster AAU season last summer.  I think they got an up and comer, but 18 months ago he was targeted to go to a school like Baylor.  On top of some academic issues early in his HS career, *that* is why TC, Bo Ryan and many high level programs...were not interested.

The thing that excites me so much is the way he combines a DeJuan Blairesque quality of grabbing every board within 5 ft with a decent face up game.  He's going to be a matchup nightmare.

I was thinking the same thing-----Buzz should use him the same way Phoenix used Barkley and that is facing up off the wide post. another place he fits well is off the high post vs a 2-3 zone !

If Buzz uses him in those two capacities, you will have at the very least a poor man's Barkely!

strobl2

He reminds me a lot of DeJuan blair except more athletic and with more ball skills.

The Man in Gold

Marcus Jackson is impressed with Maymon's ability to handle the ball.
