With Calapari leaving for Kentucky, this puts the final nail in the coffin of C-USA as any type of basketball conference.

I wouldn't be surprised to see C-USA disband in a few years, unless they can survive on football alone.

Did I miss something? Did he officially accept the job yet? I would think this waiting period would not bode well for Kentucky. It seems if he wanted the job he would have accepted already

nevermind, spoke about 30 seconds too soon

Exactly.   Who finished second in C-USA during the last 3 seasons?

Without looking it up?

After consulting ESPN.com, Tulsa, UAB, and UCF.

The 'looking it up' was the crucial point.   The rest of that conference has been virtually irrelevant.

I knew Tulsa from paying attention to Bubble Watch stuff in the run up to the tournament.

I still think C-USA has a sleeping giant in the University of Houston.  Yes it's a long time ago, but they've had some great runs in the past in the old Southwest Conference, both with the Phi Slamma Jamma era and the Elvin Hayes era.  They sit in possibly the most talent rich area in the country when you consider how many players the Houston area sends to D1 ball each year.

Tom Penders had them on the right track with a couple 20 win seasons the past few years, they just need that one local kid to stay home and they can make the leap to the top of C-USA again.

Two of them just to Marquette alone for next year in addition to the one who's already here!   :D
