Or at least a 7 man rotation guy in the tournament.  Not trying to say this had a major impact on the game, I dont think it did.  However, when DJ went down, Cubillan started to get minutes.  Didnt play great by any means but was serviceable.  DJ comes back to play and Cubillan is nowhere to be found.  Not sure I understand this.  Guess what Im getting at is next years team should be deeper but not as experienced.  Does Buzz wittle down to 7 guys again by the start of the BE schedule?

I'd say it depends on the guys. If you have 8, 9, 10 guys who can come in and play well and contribute, I see no reason to think Buzz won't play them. Likewise, if he sees the drop off after the 7th guy as being significant, I see no reason to believe he will play guys for the sake of playing them.

Buzz said over and over again, many of his bench players weren't ready or weren't BEast caliber players.  Playing them wouldn't improve MU's chances of winning at all.

Would they have gotten some exp?  Yes.  Would they have effected the outcome of the game?  In Buzz's opinion, only in a negative way.  That's why he played with a short bench.

I would imagine that next year he plays 8-9 consistently, as most will be "his" players (Lazar, Acker and possibly Cubillian and Hazell will be the only Crean players left on the roster).

I think Buzz will likely develop a "core" team which will play 30 or perhaps a bit more minutes per game next year.  I think the rotation will look like this:

Core players:

Lazar                     30
Jimmy Butler            30
Junior                     30

Non-core:
McMorrow                20
Otule                       15
Maymon                    15
Williams                     15
Buycks                      15
Fulce                        15
Acker                        10
Cubes                        5

I think Buzz had a problem playing a larger rotation this year as felt his best chance of success would be by playing the seniors.  Injuries to Otule and Fulce didn't help either.  Next year will be a diferent story and I would expect the minutes to be spread more evenly.

I think with the increased depth next year Buzz should be able to go 9-10 deep.

If I remember correctly, Buzz only played 6-7 guys in his year at New Orleans too, and that the fan base there thought he should have used the bench more as the starters wore down at the end of the year.

Buzz has been quoted as saying that he likes to play his best players. My guess is that he feels more comfortable with a short bench, especially in years like this when the team was hurt with injuries and transfers.

A couple of things...I think Acker starts and gets more minutes at least at the start of the season.  I think Buycks gets way more than 15.  More like 25.  I think Maymon gets 20.

Here is my breakdown:

Lazar 30
Butler 30
Buycks 25
McMorrow 25
Acker 20
Maymon 20
Junior 18
Williams 15
Fulce 10
Otule 5
Cubes 2
