It was a great effort in the second half.

~~Refs hosed us
~~Boneheaded play by Hayward
~~Not enough horses
~~Why is Acker in there in the last two minutes on defense guarding a guy 8 inches taller than him? he gave up 4 points to the guy in the last two minutes. Poor coaching by Williams. Another Learn as you go Coach.
~~How come we cannot recruit 6'9" guys like Misoouri had who can run the floor?
ANOTHER FRUSTRATING YEAR
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Disagree about the coaching.  Missouri played great D on that possession where we took the beat the clock three.  We were trying to get the ball to our main guys and they denied it.  Acker is in the game because we needed him to beat their pressure.

Disagree about the refs.  We got away with just as much stuff as they did.  A lot of times our guys, especially Matthews, try to get fouled rather than score.  The only blatant bad call was in the first half when Wes got hammered on the break and the refs missed it.

Agree about the lack of athletic 6-9 guys.  Burke had so many opportunites today that he couldn't convert and it was frustrating to watch.

Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

I have been asking that question since the days Cincinatti used to whip our butts a couple times a year.

Far from a frustrating year.

How do you supposse should have been inserted in place of Acker?????

MU_Warrior44

Yeah, Acker has to guard somebody. I mean, everybody is 8 inches taller than him but we needed him to be point guard at the end.  :-\

Don't blame Buzz. We didn't get offensive output like we should at the PG and C.

But then again we didn't expect to get anything from those positions.

Agreed on not blaming Buzz. The way we played int he 2nd half, Buzz  made the right adjustments, and I think all in all, it was a phenomenally coached game.

Going home sucks, but there's a lot to be proud of here.

Very original. I would like to direct you to the "When will Buzz learn" thread that has already been posted and negotiated. I really don't think that anyone else could have played D better than Acker. It was very obvious James was hesitant with his left foot. He wasn't himself. If you were really watching him, he didn't feel confident pushing off with his left foot on D or on O with the ball, and Mizzou would have gone right at him in the 2 minute stretch with the game on the line. Who would you have put in for Acker? and who would have brought the ball up? Jerel? He struggled bringing the ball up and it was only until the 2nd half after some adjustments that Jerel no longer had that responsibility and it seemed to work much better.  I disagree with the poor coaching comment. "another learn as you go coach" is how good, young coaches become great.

funny how a week ago everyone was up in arms about Jerel going to the hole too early against Nova. Now Buzz is criticized for running clock down the stretch-I don't think the bailout 3 was the plan or necessarily excusable (though good D obviously was a factor), but the damned if you do damned if you don't attitude is rough.

Mo Acker had a very good game...about as good as can be expected out of a 5'6" guard.  While I fully expect Cadougan to take over for him by the end of next year, I hope that he sticks around because I think he'll be a solid leader next year.  They will need him.

Mayor McCheese

I am very proud of the team.  It would have been easy for the players to go into halftime, look at the deficit, and mail in the game.  They didn't, played their hearts out.  The cards just didn't fall their way.
