Yet another thing our former coach was never man enough to do.  MU should thank God for Buzz.

There is a refreshing air of class around the program since the fool left on April 1st.

Our former coach wouldn't have made the mistake in the first place.

You can bash Crean all you want, but one thing he always did well was play nice with the media.  You are really stretching on this one Hayward.

Kudos to Buzz for owning his mistake.  He's lucky it was a local guy and a former MU player.

Crean is just not as honest and more experienced in pulling the media's chain.

Ok, but you have to take the good with the bad.

You can bash Crean for being slick jerk and "pulling the media's chain," but he always presented himself and MU well to the media.  He would always find a way to keep MU on the media's lips in a positive way.

Likewise, you can praise Buzz for his stark honesty, candor, and emotion but you better realize that those traits could also have a negative impact at times.  Like I said in another post, he is lucky he went off on a local guy and an MU alum.  If he made those comments to Digger or Bilas, they wouldn't be so easy to take back and they could do some lasting damage to the program.

Exactly.  Hopefully Buzz takes this experience to heart and he becomes a little more media savvy.

We, as fans, have been spoiled for the last 9 years to have one of the most media savvy coaches in the country at the helm of our basketball program.

If there is another incident like this with national media in the off-season it could become a huge distraction for the program trying to put out PR fires.  I like Buzz a lot and I find his small-town approachable guy attitude to be endearing, but I really hope that he learns to put on his politically-correct media hat before he accepts his next interview.  This current issue was a non-issue, but we don't need any faux-pas' from the coach becoming the focus later in the season or off season and taking away from the amazing accomplishments of the young men on the team.

He made a mistake, he learned from it, he manned up and made the obligatory apology with the obligatory acceptance (and the obligatory stating the apology wasn't necessary).    Issue closed.   Now, no let up.   Beat Depaul!!!!!!!!

It was even better, though, of Mac to be so level headed about the whole situation.  He could have taken Buzz's head off on-air when it happened, but he didn't.  He did a great job managing a very hairy situation with the home-town coach.

I'm sure Mac had to deal with a lot worse while playing for KO for 4 years.  So he's had practice.

Both Buzz and Mac are class acts.

Buzz seems to not repeat mistakes.  I doubt this will happen again.

Great stuff after the apology.  Makes sense why the rebound numbers are the way they are.

I am an unabashed Buzz Williams fan. I believe him to be an honest and good man. The job he has done coaching this team has been nothing short of spectacular. I love that  he also teaches life lessons and puts his players first. His openess about his faith and values make him a perfect fit for Marquette.

To say that I was surprised and disappointed listening to him go off on Mac Saturday afternoon is an understatement. It wasn't just what he said but how he said it. Buzz was so over the top that I assumed at first that he was joking. I was driving home from the game with my brothr-in-law (also an MU alum) and we were both stunned. A terrific victory lost some of its luster.

I listened to Buzz's apology and thought his mea culpa was spot on. Mac was gracious about "moving on" and I think we all should. In the future, though, I think Buzz needs to let go of that "us vs. them" paranoia, especially with overtly friendly members of the media. Buzz should know that the Marquette family will fully back him if he or his players are treated unfairly by the press, but let's not create enemies where there are none.
