Joe Krabbenhoft absolutely leveled a Purdue player by throwing an arm and elbow into his face on a screen.

The story and video is http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/38582637.html

A poll to say if he should be suspended for a game or not is here.   http://www.jsonline.com/polls/38598197.html

Badger fans are staying classy by thinking nothing was wrong.  It's one thing to set a screen and a player levels himself against it...that is the defensive teams fault for not calling it out, but its another for the screener to actively move the forearm into a players head.   Cheap and dangerous shot.

From the article, Dave Heller said Krabbenhoft "threw a screen on Lewis Jackson".  Seems odd choice of words.  Don't you "set" a screan?  "Set" a pick?  You "throw" an elbow, not a screen.

Edit:  Saw the highlight at ESPN: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?categoryid=2459792&id=3865534
OMG, not only did Krobbenhoft raise his elbow, he swung his elbow, shoulder and upper body.  Him might as well just punched Lewis Jackson.  But he didn't move his feet!

From watching it, it seems clear that the Wisconsin player drove his forearm into the neck/head of the Purdue player.

Considering Steve Lavin had a front row view of what happened and for him to immediately say "surprised it was not called a foul" is enough evidence to deem it an illegal screen.

Frustration seems to be boiling over for those players. Poor display.

The Yes votes for suspending Krabby have risen 2 percent since this thread was formed.   We can do better than that!

We just had a post on the huge number of visitors to this site...lets exercise it, have some fun and crush Krabby.

ultimate

Wow...Krabby looks like Chris Grimm (the Grimm Reaper).  While Grimm was more about the moving screens, he usually had his arms moving a bit and pushing too.

Foul? YES, Ref missed one...that's one where the ref needs to set the stage and blow the whistle loud.
Suspension? My vote is a strong NO.

I love that Marquette is the best team in the state, but (call me a traitor) I hope they start winning again...boosts our RPI, and creates more of a buzz about college basketball in the state.  I'm also not worried about them out recruiting us at this point...they can have all the slow white boys they want.

Big Daddy 84

I guess Lewis Jackson's brother was not in the crowd or that UW has better security ;)

ecompt

I hope Dracula and his Arian nation team enjoy the NIT. Krabby should have been thrown out immediately.

Foul?  Yes.  Suspension?  No.

If I were Jackson, I'd be POed at my teammates for not saying anything.

Agreed. Definitely thuggish and a foul, but not suspension-worthy.
If that's a suspension, then what's Jason Maxiell's shot to cordell Henry's cubes worth? A lifetime ban?

Foul yes.

Suspension no.

The bigger disgrace is that no foul was called, even if this was a point of emphasis.

Pardner

Flagrant foul yes.

Suspension yes--not for the elbow but because he then jacked it up.  Coulda killed the kid.  If he was just leaning in and caught the kid with the elbow--then that was inadvertent.  But, you have to take action on how he tried to close it.

Ref should be suspended too.  How do you miss that?

MUSF

Wow Badgerhater isn't just a clever name huh?

You are a little to excited about the fate of an above average player on a mediocre team that isn't even in our conference.

We are undefeated in the Big East and your main concern is that we sway a meaningless pole on a hack badger blog?

Stay focused hater, stay focused.

It's not a big deal at all.  That is why its called Off Topic.

I saw that the journal sentinel had a poll and we here had a thread about the popularity of this site.  Thought we could have a little fun and flex our fan muscle and influence the poll.

I actually don't give a rip about little 10 hardwood hockey other than growing up in MN and hating WI like a MN fan hates Iowa or Indiana.   But as an MU alum, all hoops loyalty is completely with MU.

Beat Georgetown like a Syracuse player beats his girlfriend!!!!!

I think they should suspend Purdue's coach for putting that player back in. He looked totally dazed to me. It was a very hard foul, but I do not believe Krabenoft did it intentially.

Doubtful. He does extend his elbow like he's "throwing a 'bow" and then looks down briefly at the Purdue player.

On a side note, I found this book title to be so appropriate for the Rodent's season.

Agreed.  A hit like that could have broken teeth, a jaw or a neck.  If this were the NFL Kabby would be a few thousand dollars short in his next paycheck.

The shot to nards that Henry took, while I'm sure it hurt, couldn't have given him a concussion, broke his teeth, jaw, etc.

BuzzSucksSucks

The crowd reaction, as well as the reaction by the announcer, tells us it was more than a pick.  It was a cheap shot.  No doubt about it, he leveled the guy, and got away with it.

I would rather get an elbow to the head than a shot to the nards.

Welp, looks like Bucky has a new motto:
"if you suck at basketball, elbow dudes in the face"

AZWarrior

The replay shows his behavior as malicious.  I say suspend him one game.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

DomJamesToTheBasket

It is a clear foul whenever a screener raises their arms to make contact.  When said player swings an elbow,  it is a flagrant and suspension IMO.  That was not your standard moving pick foul........Krabby was aiming w/his elbow and judging by the obvious follow-through he put some force behind it!!!

P.S. 1st post of many.  Really glad to find this board!
