For those that live in Milwaukee...
« on: January 21, 2009, 07:55:54 AM »
Does anyone know of a decent place to get work done on your car?  Being a student not from the Milwaukee area, I have some work to get done on the car my wife and I share.  Just some routine maintenance issues, but I didn't have any good ideas on where to go.  I was thinking I could get some suggestions.  Thanks in advance!

Or you could sign up for an Angie's List membership.

JSw,

I was in the same position and one of my professors recommended Ray's OK Service on Loomis. I was bringing my car in for an anti-freeze leak and the car ended up dying a couple blocks from the shop, so they towed it in for free from there.

Great service, quality work and very fair prices.

I always took mine to Felsing's on 92nd and Burliegh by Mount Mary College.

I trust them, and for routine maintenance they're very reasonably priced.

I took mine to the Firestone on 6th and Wells. It was just to have a flat fixed, but I was impressed by them. Plus it's as close as you're going to get to campus.

I've been there, for the exact same reason. Had my car back in a few hours.

That firestone sucks, but when you're in a bind downtown, not too many options.

I took my car there one time to get a flat patched.  They put on a new tire without asking me becuase they said the patch couldn't be fixed.  I called bs on them, made them put the old tire back on the rim, put my spare tire on, and took it to Kapusta Bros on 60th.  Kapusta fixed the patch and it lasted until I got new tires about 2 years later.

The Kapusta's are close personal friends of mine...Just tell Tom (MU Grad), Tony, or Nick that Mo sent you. They'll take care of you.

I swear by Lindems Auto Repair, on Capitol, about 2 blocks west of the Wal-Mart. They run an honest and effecient business there.

When I was in a small fender bender a while back, I took my car there to get the repairs done. Not only did they do a perfect job on the accident related repairs, but they buffed out a couple of previous scratches at no extra charge, giving me a truly "good as new" car.

And they do a good quick job on regular maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations as well.
