Dawson Garcia will make his college choice known on Wednesday at 3:30 central time from Prior Lake HS. It will be streamed live on CBS Sports HQ and the BB coaches at the school have made their predictions. My friend says he believes MU will land the talented forward this week. The other assistants are leaning towards Minnesota. Interestingly, there is not a coach on the staff predicting Garcia will choose Indiana. I look forward to watching the big announcement on Wednesday!

The form of the announcement, streaming etc has changed so much during my "tenure" as a fan that it's hard to believe. I remember when Maurice Lucas signed, it was just a squib in the paper about someone that I'd never heard of before. Such is life.

You're one of the few who recall the glory days and hope for at least a semblance of their return. We won't get there with plan "Bs" unless the players we recruit are as good as the guys who were plan "A". Pretty sure the back up plan to Garcia won't result in a player of his level. No worries, though. We've got this one.

I want us to win like we once did. I say, meaningfully, Make Marquette Feared Again! I mean that. I remember the days when people saw us and were afraid of us. We were tough, played hard defense and were vocal. The aura of the basketball team -- arrogant and obnoxious -- filtered into the entire university. Our swagger was the best in the nation.
We can be that again -- if we want to be.

The difference here is the infrastructure and talent around him will be significantly greater than Ellenson's year with us.
But I have little doubt that if Garcia ends up picking MU, Henry being able to showcase his talent in Wojo's system and go one & done will have been a factor in our favor.

We've gone way off topic here... but I can't help to respond. I've worked with a few of their students at my former employer and learned a lot about their program. I think what they do is amazing!

Contingent? Obviously not.
But we still have 4 openings for next year even with Oso and Lewis (I know you know this). We need to fill spots with quality players. Getting Garcia would be huge for the program.

I actually think its kind of out there, so wouldn't be surprised if Meyer knows. I am surprised you haven't heard it if I have, as you're considerably more connected in the MN HS hoops community than I am.

I have simultaneously convinced myself that Garcia is committing and that his decision will tip the scales to get Mane on board in January while also remembering a few short weeks ago when all the crystal ball picks went MU's way for RJ Davis only to all flip to UNC right before he announced.

Agree, this one looks like the Devil's Den guys, who are pulling for Wojo, putting a pick out there without any insider knowledge because they want it to happen, then Meyer seeing some late picks roll in and throwing hit hat in there. I won't believe he's coming to MU til he makes the announcement himself.

Cuonzo is a no nonsense high character type, who grew up in a very tough environment. He's a good role model for Maymon.

If he means, "I talked to Dawson's HS buddy and he said it's Marquette 100%" that's one thing. But if he means (and he might) that online he's seeing Marquette be the popular guess, that's completely different.

MUMark is correct. Steve grew up directly across the street from me. I have some good stories. One that did not occur was the home visit tailgating my brothers and I had planned. Steve announced before home visits were known. We were hoping to have Self and Billy Donovan join us!

DG is a lefty, has similar size, post up moves and nice outside touch also in common. Both were highly regarded recruits, top ten in their position.
I didn't mean to suggest DG would become CB. I was only giving a comparison to overall look and style of play at the pre-professional level.
I think it's a good comp.
Let's hope DG makes the "right" choice.
