followed by a 3 seed the following year.

this story seems familiar... here's to hoping!

2nd in the Big East though. A season like that will give both sides of the Wojo argument something to hold on to.

A 3 seed may be too low, but I guess that's why we play the games.

All of this is good stuff. Helpful to recruiting 2020 class.

If we are a three seed next year I'd actually be disappointed

That’s very dramatic. A 3 seed is never disappointing

Agreed. I'd sign up for a season where we were the 9th best team in the country right now.

Uh ... no.

How could we possibly be a 3 seed, given all the final 4 predictions already on this board, and some of the early pre season predictions of anywhere from 2 to 10 ranking. Sounds like we will be at most a 2 loss Beast team and at least a #1 seed. After all, we have Wojo and that huge upward trend so many think is happening.

Crapshoot. I fully expect MU to have a 2 game losing streak or lose 3 out of four at some point next year. That is just the way of it. And scoopies will lose their mind and you will magically appear after an extended silence.
This could change, but today I would predict somewhere around a 26-5 regular season.

Three seed means we put together a top 12 resume and would be tied for the highest seed since Al. No way that can be disappointing.

The gold standard for top seeds is > 115 OE and < 95 DE. I am confident that the offense will be improved. I am hopeful for the D. However, I would love a graduate transfer big.

See to me 3 seed means we didn't win the Big East. And if we did, we did not exactly win it in a convincing fashion, had a rough non con or the big east again was lackluster.
Till this year the Big East champion has been:
2018- 1 seed Xavier (2nd 1 seed Villanova)
2017- 1 seed Villanova (2nd 4 seed Butler)
2016- 2 seed Villanova (2nd 2 seed Xavier)
2015- 1 seed Villanova (2nd 4 seed Georgetown)
2014- 2 seed Villanova (2nd 3 seed Creighton)
Given that the Big East is supposed to rebound from being rough this year
If we don't win the Big East, that to me is a disappointment considering where we finished this year and what we return.
And if winning the Big East = 1 or 2 seed when the conference is good which it is supposed to be, then I would expect us to be a 1 or 2 seed. While rare, it's even happened where the 2nd place team has been a top 1 or 2 seed.

Both Nova and MU get a 3 seed in this way-too-early-bracketology prediction. All that means to me is Lunardi isn't sure which team is better at this point -- and he doesn't see either as a top contender for the national title. But we've seen plenty of teams move up and down over the course of a season. Ultimately, the forecasts mean nothing. You've got to prove it on the court.
-
Honestly, I don't care about winning the Big East. Sure I'd enjoy it but if we're a top 3 seed I care about that more
-
With Markus back, solid help at guard and everybody a year older Im really hoping fir a 2 seed. I think we're set up similarly to the way Tenn was this year. Wojo could cosch here 10 more years and never have a team with as much experience as next years. I realize we don't have access to the talent level to realistically hope for a #1 seed but if we were ever going to get a #2 next year would be the year.

I think you’re all missing the point.
The last time we lost as a 5 and got a 3 the next year we did ok.
2002 —-> 2003

A 3 seed is a 3 seed is a 3 seed and its never disappointing period.

I don’t think that point was lost on anyone

No shice! And we have not proven squat under Wojo yet. Oh wait...there is that losing 5 of last 6 at end of season. Which surely proves those upward trend prognostications.
