Looks to be a great hire.
Coach at Oklahoma, 33 years old

Good recruiter that shows he can recruit both guards and bigs:
Recruited Scottie Reynolds and Daimon James who left after Kelvin Sampson was fired.

Crean just signed a 10 year extension last year.  So we should know how ironclad those extensions given to college coaches are.

It is attractive because football is king at OK, here basketball is king.
He is likely losing his best player to the NBA draft.
The BEAST is a better conference than the Big 12.

The BEAST is a better conference than the Big 12, it's a lot tougher...a lot tougher to succeed.  I can't see a guy that is doing so-so in the Big 12 ready to come to the Big East.  JMO

How could he have possibly recruited scottie reynolds and damian james to oklahoma when he was the coach at VCU until Sampson was fired???
