A lot of the role players deserve it. But I'd go Gold. Unbelievable activity.
Gold - made a few threes and his defense was fantastic.
Agree, give it to Brick
Stevie or Ben
Stewie!
No brainer.
Absolutely dominated early on both ends.
Stevie
He set the tone early on both ends of the floor
Gotta be Stevie
THis game was over almost immediately and he was a menace early as we daddied Carter
Stevie
Stewie
It will be a newbie (for this year). I'll go with Stevie
BFG
Haven't looked at the box, but I made my mind up early. Stevie deserves this one..
He was the offensive force that opened it up early, and he made Carter's night miserable.
A perfect night for a STOG who is often overlooked.
There's the best case ever for co-studs... Stevie and Ben.
If there must be only one, Stevie.
Golds D was it. The o was too balanced to distinguish a winner on that end
Saw a great sign:
Thievie Mitchell
Stevensive player of the year!
I'm going with BeeGee. He did more than fill in for OSO the first half. His defense was terrific and was partly the reason we jumped up to a huge lead
Going with the Gold! He was a positive force! Go Benny!

Agreed. Ser the tone for the entire beat down.
Stevie!!!!
Cam was brick city today!
Stevie
I go Stewie
Gotta go Stevie, but he and Ben were almost mirror images of what they brought to this game. Ben's D continues to improve and his lateral quickness looks much better. Stevie is a warrior, and him hitting a few 3's is huge for this team.
Stevie.
Tough call tonight. So many great efforts. Gold was terrific. Kam was solid. Tre Norman is really coming on lately which is great to see. Kolek with a new signature moment hitting a three with blood running down his face.
Stevie set the tone with a great offensive game and his usual high energy D.
Stevie because he set the tone but Ben was great too.
Every single guy who got minutes did some positive things.

This
Ben was all over the court in the first half. Best game at MU.
Stevie
Set the tone early. Locked down Carter and scored some early buckets. Game was essentially over at 25-4.
I'm going Stevie. Hyper-efficient, great defense set the tone for the game. Honorable mention to Ben, who is repeatedly diminishing my worries about the 5 next year.
Though I'd be happy with Ben, I'll go Stevie.
His D on Carter prompted one of the greatest lines I've heard from Raf:
"He's had a rough night, but he's still playing with dignity."
Stevie Mitchell
Honorable Mention
Tyler Kolek
Kiwi
Interesting choice, but given Stevie's activity on both ends of the court when Marquette took firm control of the game, he's the one.
I continue to be very impressed with Gold's improvement.

This is the Gold we've been waiting to see.
I see a huge parallel to Oso on the defensive end. Oso was awful as a freshman and even into his sophomore year. Then started playing really well near the end of sophomore year. Same with the foul situation. Ben is starting to foul less just as Oso did.
We tend to think more of player development at the offensive end, but we have seen growth by Ben (and the rest of the team) as well. Tonight was a clinic - especially in the 1st half when it mattered.
Stevie Mitchell or Ben Gold for SOTG
Honorable Mentions Tyler Kolek and Jonah Lucas again
Stevie for bitch slapping the East Coast POY. This is Our House
Stevie
Could give honorable mentions to almost everyone. Ben for his defense, Kolek for 12 points/6assists in only 18 minutes of play, Chase for three threes and his usual bear trap D, Norman for finally finding his confidence, Kam for being the leading scorer, Lucas for being a walk on who scored. Lots of love to go around.
Gold
Gold
Stevie played an awesome game, but I vote for Gold who had his best game at MU and took a big step up on the defensive end.
Both Ben and Stevie played the way they have been recently. But there was no other player taking over the game and dominating.
Stevie.

Tower knows ball.
It has to be Stevie. Give him some love!
Everyone was good, no one stood out over the balance of the team for the entire game.
I would go with Stevie, because he set the tone early and was the guy that keyed the run that gave us the big early lead that we never gave back.

And there are still people in the Marquette fandom who don't appreciate how good Mitchell is
Rico
Going into the season I thought Stevie was the key to success. My hope was he would get to 10+ points a game and become a dual threat. His offense has taken him to the next level over the past two months.

Him and Kam cooking? Good luck stopping that offense consistently.

I was voting Stevie anyway...but this just quantifies
why.
Ben was also fantastic.
Stevie!
Give Stevie his 1st SoG this season

FWIW, it would also be Ben's 1st of the season.
Give it to a guy who hasn't been awarded SOTG yet this year!

Excellent info. Thanks for posting.
In addition to being Defensive POY material, Stevie dominated offensively while we built our lead.
Loved what Gold contributed last night, but we were up 14-4 before he even got into the game - and Stevie had half our points even as he was shutting down Carter.
The more I think about it, the less close the "contest" is. Stevie by a mile.
I think Stevie scored 10 points in the 1st 10 minutes...
Yeah the fact this is still a debate is pretty insulting to Stevie

The people have spoken. Pretty weak stat line (and low minutes) for a stud, but hey, great D.
