Wow, Vander got his NBA money!
Good for him, I'm sure he didn't think he would get his money like this
Wow, i had no idea that this happened to Vander. What a payout
Buzz was wrong. Vander was right.

There is a difference between a verdict and a payout. Hopefully he collects the $$
if vander does realize any money from the verdict-NO state income tax, eyn'a? occurred in texas
Hope his injuries are healed.
Vander Blue
Vander Orange
Vander Green
Was that a Dallas Gentleman's Club.
Seriously, hope Vander collects.

True

I had read a out the injury. Delighted for Vander . He had just realized his dream when this incident occurred.
Hopefully he can collect .
Vander has been in a good mode playing part of year in Mexico and part in Quatar.
That's awesome and I hope he gets his money but it happened in 2017 and I believe he's still playing in Europe. If the argument was that it ruined his career, it didn't.
Either way, good for him. I hope I get sprayed with CO2 soon and have a chance at collecting $33m
Hang out at strip clubs and ya got a chance, hey?

Yeah, there's no way to prove this. He had just been called up to the Lakers and then missed time with the injury. It took away a good opportunity for him to prove himself to be an NBA player, and potentially stunted his development with the injury keeping him away from the gym early in his career.
Are you a 20 something year old 2 way player? Maybe you'll have a chance too.
I'm trying to track down more about this.
I did find this: https://unicourt.com/case/tx-dl3-vander-blue-vs-pasha-slna-inc-32950
I'm still trying to see if I can find anything else about the case where I don't have to sign up to see the pleadings and other documents.

If it's a personal injury settlement, it quite possible that none of it is taxable anyway.

Unless a portion of it is punitive damages it would not be taxable.
There IS a difference between a verdict and an ultimate payout. The Verdict strikes me as pretty high, given that he continues to play many years later. However, even if there are appeals / or issues ... w / a verdict this big he will eventually see many millions.
And, the verdict / settlement is compensating a " loss " and is not income.
It's not taxable in WI or any state ...
On a personal injury case like this, the lawyers probably get 1/3 plus costs, then medical bills are paid, and Vander probably banks $20 Mil with no tax liability.

The big question is how much liability insurance the strip club has. Ultimately that is the entity that will pay. The individuals may not be collectible

As a Catholic, I find strip clubs deplorable.
As an adult, I find them boring and sad.

What does being gay have to do with not enjoying strip clubs?

Hypocritical Catholics think anyone that doesn't objectify women are homosexual. It's weird

seems there has been an increase in playas hitting from both sides of the plate. must be something due to the fact that it increases one's chances of getting the extra base hits regardless of the pitcher's proclivities, eyn'a?
there have been a couple of documented pitchers who can throw effectively with both arms, but cannot switch up mid batter which has to be a big relief for the batter. imagine going up against a flame throwing lefty only to switch up mid way thru your at bat and then catch a totally unexpected knee buckling knuckle curve from the right side. talk about taking the bat right outta your hands

I'm sure when you typed this with one finger on your ipad you thought it was clever. I've never been so sure of something in my life.
