LET'S GO NOW! We must take care of business.
Hi Muggsy
Bardo calling it like it is with FT discrepancy against Friars
Marquette has too many rebounds. Will hurt their seeding
Move the freaking basketball. So-so start.
This is going to be a grinder!
Wow!
Commentators ripping the officiating from the Providence game.

SH making threes, we GOWNE
my god...they have made one
TK with a perfect pass
Nice foul, OMax. That's why he'll never play in the NBA
Two on Omax already is sub optimal.
Otherwise pretty good start. Good disruptive D and getting solid looks on O mostly generated by TK
Great recovery D by Gold
my God the offense is terrible.....
BAM. Nice dime from Jones to Jones.

A simple area of improvement in his game would be to realize he doesn't have to shoot every single time he gets the ball whether via the pass or off of him getting his own rebound off of a missed shot..

Fair point.
Awful few mins of hoops for MU.
We are in a wooooooooooooof stretch now
Unlucky that they whole run started off a total brick where the ball deadened right to their guy for a lay in.
So a missed open shot is an "almost perfect three"?
The crowd seems listless to me. We need more energy.

Typical MU scoring drought. Almost five minutes without a point, jacking them up.
At least it wasn't the last seven minutes with an 11 point lead.
SH has a perfect run going...yelling "and 1" on every layup they've taken

Way too much iso ball.
Really bad at the moment
We're allowing way too many diagonal cuts to the rim. Freaking focus.
Everything about that possession was awful, including the shot, but it went in
Let's go now!! Stretch this out!
OSO!!
That was a fun couple minutes
Keep getting dunks!!!
Elite coaching move bringing back Omax with two fouls
Immediate shift in the game getting his length back in there.
Good shot selection

Two fouls in the first half shouldn't necessarily mean you're on the bench the rest of the half - great move by Shaka.

100% and he tried to ride the bench as long as possible. But knew it was time to get a dog back in there.
Big time move
Big 3 minutes here
Not a good first 15 seconds of the 3 minutes
Nice every foul is on us again.
Even as we get all ball.
All ball
Lost focus up 14 with the ball. Cannot happen.
WTF???
Absolutely infuriating. Gotta close whether it be the 1st half or 2nd half.
Shaka's right. Screen stuck his knee out. Should have done a Premier League flop
Mitchell had a lay-up!! WTH!!!
OUr inability to make wide open 3s is much more frustrating than fouls only being one one end.
Damn, 3 threes were 1/2 way down
Good grief - how many threes have been halfway down? 😳
Big 3 there after an extremely disappointing last 4 mins.
finally a garbage circus shot in our favor
I'll give that guy at the end of SH's bench credit. His expression didn't change after Kam's crazy bank shot or after Jop's prayer 3 at the buzzer. Good poker face
34-20 with 3:40 to go. MU scored 2 points(Mitchell layup) until the prayer by Joplin. Too many missed threes, but that is the system.
In two stretches of play, MU went almost eight full minutes, scoring two points.

Yes. We clearly need those two guys on the floor.
MU gave up an 11-0 and a 9-0 run in the first half and are up 7. I'm afraid those end of game runs by other teams where we can't score are just who we are - great for short stints, bad for others. They come at various times with little to no warning.

Evidently.
Feels like we're one more consistent scorer away from being pretty good.
I foresee a Kam T
Stevie is fearless
It's like the universe is making up for Tyler scoring 29 last time. No points for you... only assists
Odd seeing Jop completely unprepared to shoot.
TK gifted him a wide open 3.
When I was a student in the super BE I don't even think the fouls were skewed so much to punish reaching and grabbing even if contact is minimal and reward physicality that in some leagues is a foul. Not favorable for the team so far in conference play.
WTF Jop
Good grief. Why did Jop take that shot? Smh.
Ross was just fouled two straight possessions that have been called on us 17 times tonight. LIterally
Holy sh it. They finally called a foul on Koleks drive.
What did Shaka just do to Jones ?
tickle fight
SJ is the dude in Mighty Ducks who cant stop.
Hes fast as hell and can get to the rim at a moments notice. But has zero finese once he gets there and its a wild lay up everytime.
Get that under control and hes gonna be a good one.
MU winning because 100% fts

Only so long as you're not wearing a Marquette uniform.
OMax gets stiff armed in the face
At least we didnt get called for the foul, progress I guess.
This is ridiculous.

The Prov game was very unfortunate. Mu is capable of inflicting damage but we need to figure out how to win close games.
I don't care for all these Marquette blowouts. Sign of an inconsistent team. Back in the Wojo era this team played COMPETITIVE games.
Does anyone else hyperventilate when Joplin dribbles in the open court?

Jesus we suck so bad late in games.
If its close, we lose the game.
If its a blowout, we lose about 8 pts towards NET.
This is embarrassing right now. PUt in the bench and completely took the air out of the ball. The BE sucks this year we have to blow out trash at home.

The one thing I really dislike about Shaka is how early he puts his subs in towards the end of games.
It's happened multiple times this year where a 20+ point lead comes back down to 8-10 point wins.

And they get penalized for it by the stupid NET.
Offense is 100 times better when we don't hold it which we did the last 5 minutes of the providence game.
So you can just take a free throw away because someone says something, without calling a T?
nice dub

Shaka ball likes to serve cookie crumbles, even in blowouts.

Feels like he's been told to attack the basket and get into the post and he's been given a leash too. He's shown enough promise to where I think they should keep at it, but there's obviously a balance. Frustrating no doubt, but I think if he can develop that part of his game, he'll be a lot to handle.
Jop is one of the players that has white man disease, has zero hops. Watched warm-ups and barely can dunk. Unique player, needs to understand what is a good shot is. Will learn

I'm not a conspiracy theorist (except about all the people who are against me) but that 2nd discussion of the PU game seemed totally out of the blue and downright weird. I can't think of any other reason for it but someone literally talking in his ear.

In all games, MU's defensive free throw rate is a dip below the national average. In the Big East so far, MU's defensive FTR is last in conference...by a lot. More so, our offensive FTR is a lot less than our total season average.
Did MU start fouling a lot more all of a sudden and start getting fouled a lot less? Even despite leading late in all three games? Did the points of emphasis change for conference play? Allowing body bumps versus hand defense?
Style of play is going to be an issue for MU all conference season. Bully Ball will be rewarded for teams like UCONN, PC and SH and not finesse play. It's the Big East Way apparently and as long as these refs reward that, MU will be at a disadvantage. There is no question in my mind MU AD complained after the PC game and the Home Office is super sensitive as that was a decade long outlier. Yet, adapt and adjust must be the consideration.
At one time out in the 2nd versus SH, Shaka sprinted/ran to half court bitching at Claugherty. I am surprised he didn't get T'ed, but I'd also be more surprised that he didn't want to get one.

Two teams play the game and dictate the style.
Creighton is 274th in FTA/FGA. Creighton shot 5 free throws against Marquette.
Providence is 20th in FTA/FGA. Providence shot 49 free throws against Marquette (averages in 39 in an average game on just a minutes basis, but Marquette was in the bonus for those 10 extra minutes so its more like 33ish).
Seton Hall is 7th in FTA/FGA. Seton Hall shot 22 free throws against Marquette.
UConn is a horrible matchup for everyone.
