OK, so another one's in the books, and we know MU is saying a big Aloha! next year.
Any info on what holiday tourneys we're in line for in 2024 and beyond?
All I know is you won't be attending!
Really nice / clean juco facility for this week's games. Pregame area setup worked well.
Damn, was hoping Maui was '24.

Nothing beyond Maui has been announced. They'll probably announce the 2-3 after that in April. Guessing they won't go beyond 2026 as they're likely holding out hope of being invited to the PK90 in 2027.
I feel like the Orlando Classic is virtually a guarantee. Feels like we go there as often as possible.
Anyone know the deal with Atlantis? There seems to be a Big East team there every year but it's never us.

I was thinking the same thing. Would definitely go if it were an option.

Too much crime around campus and the team can't get visas
Atlantis is ideal. Stay over at The Cove.
Orlando - yuck.
Charleston - roll that back anytime.
Myrtle Beach - would go.
Fort Myers - need another game.
Nassau - 100%
Montego Bay - ✅
Virgin Islands - eh, probably.
Vegas - once every three years
Hall of Fame Tip-off - no chance
Daytona - sure.
Caymans - not the easiest flight
New York - pass
Kansas City - for sure
So Cal - probably
Cancun - the Hard Rock looks like a dud resort and it's not close to better resorts
Portland - hopefully soon
Destin - would go
Maui - will go one time and one time only.
There's way more of these than I thought. At least another dozen mid-major tournaments out there too.
What about restoring our former glory at the Great Alaska Shootout?
If they get an invite to the Caribbean I will be there. I haven't seen any news about the Virgin Islands tournament in years and I did not know that the Cayman Islands even had a tournament.

Pretty sure the men's part of this tournament no longer exists, hey?

Sultan asked about it. Therefore, it's still an option. He explains it all.

It was actually a joke. While admittedly not very funny, I find it hilarious that your obsessions with my posting lured you in anyway.

First thought-
Why would you pass NY? I've been and it was great.
2nd thought-
Maui is a several time assuming you can afford it. Hawaii is beautiful, even tho Maui was the least of my faves while there
All others-
I'll go to say that I've been somewhere new, good excuse with an MU tourney
Welcome to da MUSOD group, hey?

Officially a charter member by degree. No dues collected, only requirement is to post incoherently and drive the resident posters here bat chit crazy, hey?

I lived in Hawaii for three years. I am in total agreement on Maui. Least favorite of the major islands.
But that being said, it'd be like saying out of. Benz, BMW, and Porsche, which is your least favorite?

Good point.
As a local you'd know 'more'
Got engaged there. Enjoyed Oahu the most- loved the variety of cultures, flavors, foods, etc.
Kauai was second, it was great.
The beauty in the north can't be touched.
Maui was last. Halialkala was the ring spot, above the clouds. Road to Hana is memorable as hell. The rest is pedestrian.
Either way, what a beautiful part of the world, and a treat to call the place you locked it all down

I'm looking for warmth in November, so that's the downfall of NYC.
Hawaii is great, too much traveling.

From what I understand, the MTE circuit is sort of similar to the AAU circuit in that different programs have connections with different MTEs, just like different programs have connections with specific AAU programs. I know we've looked into Atlantis, but I'm strongly led to believe that's a different MTE circuit than the ones we typically play in.

The resort is very overrated (and overpriced), and Nassau is one of my least favorite places in the Caribbean, so it would be a hard pass for me.

Thanks, maybe with the women going there it'll change in the future.

Thanks, good to know. I'm conflicted on going to warm weather places to sit in a gym the majority of the time anyway.
I too really wish we could get into the Atlantis rotation. Maui is fantastic. I went to the tourney in 2018 and it was amazing. But I was just in Maui last week so prob won't be going next season, unfortunately.
Wi
The list of tournaments and teams are linked. Part of this is conference affiliation and media. I know Broeker told me a few years would like to get into the Atlantis pecking order by the eastern Big East schools hold a legacy lock just like MU does in Maui.

MU travels very well (I think we had more fans than all the other schools combined in FW) but these tournaments are more and more "made for TV" versus tourism events. This tournament had 8 teams for example but broke into
4 majors and 4 mid/lower as the TV inventory isn't there with so many other choices at this time.
