"There was no immediate information on the cause of death."
Whacked?
Gabagool overload?
Froze to death during a return trip to Pine Barrens?
Fuggettaboutit!
Sad news. He was great. Apparently was actually in the Mob, when he was much younger, with two stints in prison.
Obviously great in Sopranos.
Lowlife in real life.

Henry Hill, Sonny Corleone and Pauly Walnuts in the span of about a month.

He lived well more than half his life after prison and his criminal past. Everyone that worked with him in the industry raved about him as a person. Is it that shocking that someone could change?
Why do you feel the need to repeatedly parachute in to conversations about someone who has passed and focus on a negative? Did Paulie vote red one time?

Why do you always need to post the same thing? And for some reason, make everything about politics.
He was a creep who liked to hurt people, rob people, etc. If that is your idea of a good man, so be it.
I am guessing you will say the same thing when Putin dies and I don't say flattering things about him.

My point was that being a decent human being is the
least that should be expected of a man - not something to be praised.

Glad you got the joke, though. It would have flown over most people's heads.

Kind of sort of reprised a part of Pauly Walnuts in Lilyhammer.
Michael Imperioli and Steve Van Zandt seem like decent dudes and they clearly cared deeply about Sirico. I suspect there are worse people to bitch about.

Why the need for people here to glorify mob guys? These were unbelievably terrible human beings.
Before turning to acting, Sirico was an associate of the
Colombo crime family serving under Carmine "Junior" Persico -- and was arrested 28 times. This was one of the most violent groups in NYC. He was just a thug for much of his life. He has bragged about how often he beat guys up, often using a baseball bat.
If some here want to make him out to be a hero, so be it. I won't.
BTW, I have no problem with him getting acting jobs. I don't know if he was re-habilitated or not, but he did his time in prison. He deserved a new chance at life.

You've now posted about 5 posts telling us what a horrible human being Tony Sirico was. Only thing I can figure is that at some point he ran over your dog.

I read through this whole thread, not one person called him a hero.
Did he have a really shitty past at one point? Yes.
Did he also turn his life around? Yes.
So your logic is that people cannot be mourned at all if they were at any time a bad person?
Also keep in mind that all the people mourning him(fans and costars) are remember the guy that they knew at that time, which based off everything I have heard was a really solid guy.

Yet despite this, you feel the need to crap on the guy.

Revered actor dies - "what can I say to make it about myself?"
I happened to be in a Tribeca restaurant the afternoon of Gandolfini's funeral and I suddenly realized that I was surrounded by members of the Sopranos who were conducting a little post funeral get together (Michael Imperioli's neighborhood) .
Ordered my burger and looked up and there's Johhny Sack. And there's Bobby Baccalieri crying. There's Uncle Jr, there's Artie Bucko.
Went to the mens and out walks Furio!
Two things were obvious:
1. These guys and ladies really cared about Gandolfini- they
were grieving pretty hard.
2 .Imperioli and Tony Sirico clearly had a close friendship- it was very obvious that they genuinely cared about each other.
Read an article on his life and it was a rough first fifty years.
At age 55, he was sleeping on his mothers couch before he got the role on the Sopranos.
After the Sopranos, he and Gandolfini were very involved with the Wounded Warrior project and went overseas many times supporting the USO Tours. So, he turned his life around and participated in the above charity organizations helping the military members.
Last few years had brutal dementia issues and was in assisted living home.
One of the best roles on one of the best shows ever to hit TV, or any media outlet.

He was a weepy guy in the show, too. I guess anybody married to Janice would cry a lot!

He was a thug. Just about everyone here wants to ignore that. Worked for probably the most violent crime family in NYC. Has jokingly told tales about beating guys with baseball bats.
I definitely won't use him as a role model for my kids or grandkids. :o

Calling him a thug was not a judgement. It is what he was. He willingly admitted that.

Nobody is ignoring that. A half dozen people have referenced judging him on on the content of the back half of his life, post prison, where he was a celebrated actor, very charitable, and seemingly beloved by all of his coworkers and associates. You're acting like he was an active Mob enforcer who moonlighted as an actor and was beating guys and shaking people down all throughout his time in the Sopranos and after.
Lets say someone was a severe drug addict who got a DUI and went to prison for a intoxicated car accident which badly injured occupants of another car. Post prison, they got clean, went into business, were very successful and donated time and money to various causes, was a beloved and active member of their community. Upon their passing, by your metrics, you'd be side-eying people praising their memory because they were a selfish POS junkie.
