UCONN win 13-6, 3 seed.
CU loss 12-7, 4 seed.
MU win 11-8, 5 seed (MU 2-0 over HALL).
Hall win 11-8, 6 seed.
With CU having tie breaker over UCONN, it appears more likely we will face UCONN in the 4/5 game in other possible outcomes today.
Hall win, MU loss....we slip to 6.
So cheer for the Hall and UCONN today! First time ever!
So this is not fun to think about (and very COLEish), but is it
A) Better to lose to SJU and beat GT (And lose next game) or:
B) Lose to SJU and lose to UCONN (with CU win at SHU)?
The danger with A of course is that we also lose to GT. Does "B" have us safely in? The answer to this question then dictates who we cheer for in CU/SHU right?

Better to beat St. John's, and then better to beat whomever we play next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Give up the slaw!

I think a bye puts us in the best light in the eyes of the committee........closer to the top of the league than not.
Getting a 6 seed, then a terrible situation with Georgetown in the hopes of making a run on that side of the bracket, is not my desire. Risk is too high. A loss to GT could be detrimental coupled with our recent fade.
Win tonight, play a good team in the BET is our best play......hopefully that good team is Creighton.

Yes, I mean of course winning tonight is best but if we want the bye then its root for Creighton right?
I'm gonna watch that game and need to know who to root for!

MU win......we get the bye.
MU loss, Hall loss.....we get the bye.
MU loss, Hall win......we get the 6 seed.
Its a little tricky. If your desire is just to get the bye....then a SH loss will ensure that.
If you want to potentially play Creighton in the 4/5 game then GO HALL!

I think we're pretty safe, but beating St John's would remove any doubts. Better to just beat the Johnnies, lock in a tourney bid, and take what comes at MSG.

Of course, but indulge the hypothetical?
0-2 L SJU, L UCONN <=> 1-2 L SJU, W GT, L CU/UCONN
I mean if they're equal to the resume then I'd rather cheer for SHU to avoid any possibility of a GT L which would presumably make things dicey.
And just for fun, consider this; a Hall win could move our victory against them to a Quad 1 win.

I'd root for Seton Hall. I'd much rather play Creighton than UCONN. If MU can't beat SJU at home, they don't deserve the bye.
MU needs to win today. Period.
It's unlikely they play Creighton, as they are hot and will likely win.

The second scenario is better because it gives us the 19th win, but it's not worth the risk of playing and losing to Georgetown. Most important thing is to be in the top five.
Gotta admit, I'm gonna be a nervous wreck tonight if Hall wins this afternoon.

I just want the bye, don't care who MU plays. If MU plays defense they can beat anyone in the league

I don't want to play Georgetown because we have nothing to gain.
But if we do happen to have to play them, we ain't losing to them. Y'all need to chill about that. Sheesh ... talk about COLE.
We're gonna win tonight, anyway, so (as Lou Piniella used to say), "it's mute."

I have no confidence we beat Georgetown. The only way we will not make NCAA tournament is to lose to St. John's and then lose to Georgetown. We might still be in, if we lose to Georgetown, but I do not want to take the chance.

No doubt about that. I fully expect a W tonight.
I think these are the options:
If Creighton wins, it's easy. We get the 5th seed and play UConn in the BET, regardless of whether UConn beats DePaul. Creighton beat UConn twice, so the best the Huskies could do with a win is a 3rd place tie with Creighton, but would get the 4th seed. If they lose to DePaul, Creighton is in third outright and UConn drops to fourth.
If Creighton loses (meaning Seton Hall wins):
& MU wins & UConn wins: MU gets the fifth seed, Creighton fourth--we play Creighton in the BET
& MU Wins & UConn loses: MU gets the fifth seed, UConn is 4th--we play UConn in the BET
& MU loses & Uconn wins: MU is sixth, we face Georgetown first, then would face UConn
& MU loses & UConn loses: MU is sixth, we face Georgetown first, then would face Creighton.
Our options are:
Creighton then winner of Providence/Xavier/Butler (assuming Uconn beats DePaul tomorrow) then championship
Or
UConn then winner of Providence/Xavier/Butler(assuming Uconn beats DePaul tomorrow) then championship
Or
Georgetown then Creighton then winner of Villanova/St. Johns/DePaul (assuming UConn beats DePaul tomorrow) then championship
1 is the clear best path but 3 may be an easier path than 2. Either way, the right answer is to just keeping winning and let your opponents fall as they may
Heck of a game in Omaha.
You have to give it to Kalbrenner. I never imagined he would improve to this level.
Wow.. Iron unkind. It looks like the Hall will escape.
It's the St. John's win we really need. Then another shot at Creighton!

St. John's should be able to run up and down tonight. Gonna be interesting to say the least.
Seton Hall deserves the 5 seed though, they've been on a heck of a run.
We gotta earn it back with a win tonight.
If only O'Connell had shot at the end of the game against us like he did at the end of the game today. Two open 3's, with the second one being way more wide open than the one he hit against us in OT.
Also ...
Nice job by SH and UConn doing what we needed them to do. Now we just gotta take care of business!

He was about as open on the first one as he was against us ... and this time he shot an effen airball.
The second one ... I'm almost as close to him right now as any SH defender was. Looked like Cale gave a half-hearted effort to commit a foul but the refs (correctly) didn't call it.
We got what most of us wanted in the early games. A chance to get another crack at Creighton and avoid Uconn.
Gotta do our job and win tonight. Avoid the worthless Gtown game.

BE seedings? Who gives a sh@t? You don't want to lose 2 in a row. And we won't. Stomp the jonnies tonight and get your tests done before we get on a plane for NY. Show me your character, you've worked hard, too hard. Don't be discouraged because you expected these games to be easier. It always gets harder when to get closer to the end. And a good ending is always worth the effort.

It was so nice to see Wojo at the Duke Carolina game tonight instead of the sideline at Fiserv Forum. He was where he usually is around Mid March - not on a BB court.

I mean. He played in an Elite Eight so he was on a BB court then. And he coached in 11 Sweet Sixteens, 3 Final Fours, and won two National Titles as an assistant coach in his career.

That's great. I'm speaking from an MU perspective so I will amend my comments. He blows as a head coach.

So basically in the 25 years he was involved with college basketball he wasn't "on a BB court in March" for like 7 of them. Not sure that qualifies as "where he usually is" in March.

I am just trilled that everything worked as planned yesterday.
We got the win.
We got the bye.
We dont play Georgetown.
We get to play Creighton, not UCONN.
We are on the PC side of the bracket, not the Nova/UCONN side.
All great developments.
I understand we are 0-2 v. Creighton this year. Good chances to be 2-0....but credit to CU for those wins. I think Mac is a fabulous coach. They have a lot of nice pieces. However, they don't scare me. We will need good Osa/Kur on kalbrenner.
But, i think this game is more about us. Rebounds and turnovers.

Nice summary and with the emphasis on the "good stuff". I like our chances vs. Creighton. Going not just 2-0 but 3-0 to win it all is a real possibility, especially if UCONN gets knocked out.

Yeah, yesterday went about as well as it could as
I'm very impressed by Kalkbrenner, especially on defense. He's built like our bigs but plays a much smarter and better positional defense. And he has better hands.
