Marquette will honor its 2022 M Club Hall of Fame class, which includes former head coach Tom Crean and guard Dominic James, during a special halftime presentation.
Here's some Dom highlights to enjoy:
2-25-2006 - Putback dunk versus Notre Dame

3-1-2006 - Buzzer beating three sends takes Louisville to overtime

I'm not really a fan of honoring a coach who is still coaching for another team. They should wait till next year after he's fired
Love that Dominic if getting honored. Was a big fan of his game. Hopefully he becomes more involved with MU

Thank You for sharing.
Dominic's Valpo game winning 3 and his NC State game winning 3 were similar in that Dominic dribbled Right to Left and pulled up just Left of Top of the Key. Awesome enjoyable highlights thank you again.
Hear CTC is staying in The Quon.
Both deserve it. Still hate the way Crean left (not that he left for IU) but a FF is a big deal and he deserves the honor. Dominic was great, I think he is an all time great.
I heard Crean is taking this opportunity to pledge $1MM in matching funds for the new Valley Fields soccer complex.
Coach Crean is a big part of MU basketball (as is Dominic James). Very thankful for their time at MU. Like his stint at Indiana, Coach Crean left the program in a better spot than when he got there. I do think, like all of us, age and experience has humbled him.
Like with former dating partners, unless there is abuse, there comes a time to let it go, forgive, and. move on.
I went to that ND game in 2006 with my brothers. My oldest brother had a daughter attending ND at the time and she scored her dad and uncles some pretty decent seats, in the corner but second row, completely among older ND fans. When he slammed down that dunk the old gent next to me said "how did that leprechaun leap that high?" He was considerably kinder than the rest of the crowd.
Dom is one of my all time favorites. He and his family are leading a great life post MU.

The Big East added South Florida in that round of expansion, too. Marquette made the Final 4 in 2003 and crapped out in '04 and '05.
Not a shot at Crean. The Big East was adding Marquette to alleviate the concerns of the basketball centric schools along with DePaul. The other 3 additions in that round were basketball/football schools. Even though they were better hoops schools, they brought football.
Crean made the transition easier by having Marquette prepared with better facilities and upgrading the talent.
Nobody liked the way he left, but who wouldn't leave for their dream job at the age he was when he left?????
He's all but said that it was a mistake and he wishes he'd stayed.
it seems rare these days for coaches to move to AD positions, but Crean's a guy who seems to get it in terms of what it takes to make a team great, in terms of infrastructure, community involvement, quality, etc. If he ever wanted to get into the business side of the sport, he'd be an appealing AD candidate. I don't have a problem with MU's current athletics department... just sayin'

lol, "the way he left"
Crean LEAVING was the best thing that happened to #mubb. My bigger problem with him is how he came / that he came.
TC is like the CMO of a company who finally approves a marketing budget, no crap he did ok, we changed the game for him.
But I need to take a deep breath and remember that without TC, there's no Buzz. Buzz brought us the closest to Al so have appreciate Tom for that.

Agreed. It's kind of like Favre to me. Now that so much time has passed, I just choose to remember the good times.
Also, I think it helps he didn't get to a Final Four with Indiana. It would have been tough to see him get to the top with IU and wonder if he could have done it here.
Never really understood how people hated a guy that brought Marquette Dwayne Wade and a Final Four.
Granted I never really had any personal experiences with him outside of a friendly interaction when he brought us donuts and coffee outside of the Bradley Center at 8AM.
I get that he was a salesman, perhaps a phony salesman, but that was to him, in his mind, the best way to promote his team. Sure he wanted personal gain as well, but what career man doesn't?
I guess I never really understood the hate for a Texan that brought Marquette so many wins and huge tourney success, but I was never asked to flush either...
I never really understood the hatred for a man that cleaned up the program and had 0 bar brawls and rape scandals under his tenure, the man that brought us Markus Howard, but then I realized it's been almost a decade since my beloved Marquette has won a tourney game.
I guess what I'm saying is that if you had some personal experiences with tanned Tommy and he was a dbag I get it. That said, if you take a step back it's easy to see that he did a lot for Marquette University no?

First of all, learn how to spell. It's Dwyane. Put some f'n respect on his name.
Second of all, we quadrupled the spend and relaxed the requirements. Of course Tom did well. Any young coach coming in with no admission barriers and a huge budget would do it too.
The state was full of studs; Travis, Steve, Merritt and then in Chicago there's a partial qualifier. The road was paved with Gold. All Tom had to do was drive his ATV over it and not tip over.
Still waitin' on da Tommy and Joanie Memorial Soccer Megaplex ta bea started, hey?

Not necessarily a gaurantee. During Buzz's last two years and wojos first couple WI had constant 5 stars and high 4 stars. Not all stayed in state (hero, tokoto, Johnson, stone, looney, the hausers) and as seen by Wojo getting studs and spending more doesn't always do it
Congratulations to DJ and Crean. Many great games with the 3 Amigos. Really enjoyed watching them their four years at MU.
CTC's strength was he is a program builder. Al knew and was good at that. After Al MU had a bunch of basketball coaches. Then came CTC who knew putting fans in the seats and keeping them there was a big part of the job. Buzz had his moments and then he didn't (Mac interview, Buzz v. Admin). With Wojo, we were back to a coach. Now we are back with Shaka who is again a builder.
I think every coach since Al was better or equal at Xs and Os with Crean (maybe not Piano Man), but no one made a MU game a destination event like CTC did.

I 100% agree on this. I kid in MU text threads that we should bring him back next season as CMO. Men's games have gotten stale. We were at the women's game on Sunday and every timeout was hot. Much better vibe. Tom knew when play Cottoned Eye Joe.

Accept new offer the night before without new school notifying old school about interview request. Have your father in law, who works for your boss, remain quiet. On next day, tell your boss and his boss "all is good" as they board a plane across the country. One hour later, have your brother in law announce on national media you are taking the new job. When your boss and his boss land, have their phones light up with missed calls and voicemails about you quitting per national media. Boss hastily refuels plane for return flight. Have school shuttle players to my house so I can tell them briefly I am leaving even though they heard two hours ago on radio and social media. Get on flight to new gig without talking to old bosses. Give exact same speech at new gig as I gave at old gig. Bring along recruits from old gig.
Perfect etiquette.
At yet 14 years later, Marquette is inducting him and Scoopers can't let it go. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

You said he's not a good coach because he can't get to final fours. By that logic, lots of coaches underperform.
I don't understand all the crean vitriol so many years later. Wojo was much more detrimental to the overall status of our program. crean's first year in the Big East was anything but coaching failure.

At yet 14 years later, Marquette is inducting him and Scoopers can't let it go. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Yet we are okay with tearing down statues of Grant and Lincoln. It's history, and these guys are flawed as well, and deserving of discussion of their history-pro and con. Only one person here (4Ever) says he isn't deserving overall.
I responded to Heise who was glossing over his exit. It was likely the most ham handed exit one can come up with.

I'm not salty. I asked a question hoping for an answer and you came back all Chico's defending Crean and his inability to coach a non D Wade team
Again, he is a good recruiter and a program builder. I give him credit for that
Also it's kind of ridiculous to call him a bad coach but a good program builder. He can hand out donuts in the morning to kids waiting in line and do marketing until he's blue in the face, but he still has to put a winner on the floor for program growth.
Dominic James is a stud and deserves whatever awards MU gives him. Crean is a tool as a human, but was hired to do a job and did that job very well. I don't think he has ever said a bad thing about MU publicly, so people need to get over whatever lingering butt-hurt they have and thank him for a job well done.
So character no matta?
Actually, as much as we love Al, he was no saint either. However, he was not a tool. Far from it.
Maybe the tanned one has repented.

I get it, you like the guy. Cool
I asked the question to a Kansas friend and he said Self has 4 too.
So maybe Roy?

Al was far from a saint. He was a lovable rouge, which Crean could never pull off because he is too plastic. This is a basketball honor, and Crean's character flaws are nowhere near disqualifying of the award being given.
Anyone see the guy comment on Marquettes Facebook post hating on the D James and then James commented on it and the guy suddenly was like "sorry if I offended anyone"
I was pleasantly surprised, no booing for TC at halftime. Got a standing...well not ovation, but most of those in their seats stood and clapped. James got a little more love

The meat eaters are too busy at halftime for that nonsense.

Figured the meat eaters stayed at home in protest.
They planned on storming the M Club to overturn the induction, but the snow held them up.

My favorite MU team. Dom's injury haunts me to this day.
Crean is a quitter. He quit Marquette.
Y'all are idiots. One's a cheap Timex, the other's a Rolex, aina?
My mother-in-law is unfortunately in decline and frequently repeats the same thing again and again because she doesn't remember saying it 5 minutes earlier.

Probably still funnier than 4ever though.

Ergo, the same as our current coach.

No, an actual healthcare professional--retired nurse

I see. You would rather have non-quitters like Dukiet, Deane, or Wojo.
