Milwaukee Bloody with bacon infused vodka and Horsey sauce for heat. A chaser, side car of Riverwest to cool it down. The garnish makes it.

Actually, this is correct. Especially if it was bought with spare quarters at The Avalanche Superbar.

When I googled for the picture, I saw an article (https://www.jsonline.com/story/entertainment/beer/2018/06/26/pabst-brings-back-red-white-blue-but-only-milwaukee/732651002/) reporting that they resurrected it on a limited basis in 2018, but I think it might be dead again.

Yeah, I read the same... and the wikipedia page features Marquette and the 'lanche.
Hamms! Land of sky blue waters ditty rang thru the Milwaukee Arena many times. Those were the insensitive days.

As it should. I wonder what percentage of RWB sold in the late 80s and early 90s was at the 'lanche.

QuoteThe Avalanche Bar & Grill, an iconic drinking establishment on the campus of Marquette University, reportedly sold more RWB per capita than any other tavern in America or abroad. Patrons often purchased it (at .50/can) for no other reason than to pour it on the floor, providing a slicker surface for 'naked beer sliding', a late night tradition made famous at The 'Lanche.

Uhhh, false. The Lanche was selling RWB's until May 1997. Now perhaps it was stop being brewed in 1992 and they had 5 years of stock left to unload but it was available for purchase up until 1997.

Ew, gross. I was going off of a date I found on a website dedicated to 'dead beers' and it said 1992. I couldn't find any official end date of production in my two minute search.

What you're too fancy for a 5yr old beer? Haven't you ever sat on a bourbon aged stout for a few years? Same thing!

I have a celler and fridge in my basement for just such a thing... Aging 'lagers' is not something I'd recommend. :D
My nominees:
1) Miller Lite -- Brewed right down the street from our beloved alma mater and never left town.
2) PBR -- Word is they're going to brew this in Milwaukee again. If you went to Marquette before 1990, you did the Pabst tour looking for cheap beer.
3) The Fine Rhine -- Late in every semester, when cash ran short, you'd buy a case of Rhinelander, AKA, the Fine Rhine. Terrible beer, by any standard, and probably not brewed any more. Was the official beer of April at McCormick Hall and the official beer of people who didn't know any better (aka, freshmen). I'm actually wrong, they do brew this crap. https://www.rhinelanderbrewery.com/our-beers
4) Bug Juice -- A dorm staple, bug juice was the base for every dorm floor party concoction. You'd get a load of it from the dorm dining hall and pour every liquor known to man in it. Ms. Dgies once told me the first words out of an O'Donnell RA's mouth were "don't ever drink bug juice at a male dorm floor party.... ever!" Many did anyway!
Anyone who nominates milk needs to be permanently exiled to Madison and be forced to watch Greg Gard installing his offense!

I think times change... while I was in school:
1. Milwaukee's Best Light/Ice/normal... usually referred to us as Blue Shield, Black Shield, or Red Shield depending on which you bought. Aka "The Beast".
2. Wop/Wopaooli same thing dg referrs to as bug juice.
3. Jello Shots
4. California MFers... on tap at Murph's. Created by Ken MFing Dawg.
5. Whatever was cheapest at Discount Liquor.

2. Wop/Wopaooli same thing dg referrs to as bug juice. This one never changes. Best drink to consume with Real Chili -- kills the flavor fast!
3. Jello Shots This was new from my day but my kids do these from to time. I guess it is the way the Jell-o company stays relevant.
4. California MFers... on tap at Murph's. Created by Ken MFing Dawg. Have no idea what this is but assume it is some beer concoction. Related to a boilermaker?
5. Whatever was cheapest at Discount Liquor. Same in our day except it was Marquette Liquors on Wells west of 16th Street.
RIP Greenfield Liquors.

Y'all are fancy 36 rack of boxer is where it was at. By far the cheapest swill.
that being said if I could afford it my jungle juice (wop, bug juice) could have killed some people and cost me 240 to make but was worth it... the hangover was not.
I was thinking cases of Buckhorn returnables for 3.97/net.
Cases of Hamm's returnable longnecks were $2.99 in the '80s. Yummy.
EDIT: And the $2.00 pregame beers at the Fiserv were Hamm's.
Another vote for Hamm's...from the Land of Sky Blue Waters.
Is the Scoop endorsement something that can be sold and the proceeds set against our annual fee?
If so, lets go to General Foods for the true Scoop Official Beverage -- Vodka and Tang!
It's not just for astronauts anymore!

General Foods has not been in existence since 1990. Mondelez is now the rightful owner.
Not pictured in the recipe is a case of redbull & the old school four lokos. But basic drink of choice

I believe you are referring to Wapitui (or Wap for short).
In Las Vegas there is a locals dive bar called the Double Down Saloon that will serve you a shot of Ass Juice, which is the stuff they drain out of the bar mat. If we want something new, that is my nomination.

At brothers we'd do that when drunk a$$ holes wanted a free shot. Called the New Jersey turnpike
I was able to sneak 8 of these into the Mecca hidden in various pockets, and the hood, of my giant parka. IIRC would buy them at Hegarty's while making the trek.

'83 Engineering snuck in 3/4 cases of PBR into Mecca for graduation under togas. Distributed and drank while sitting during graduation.
This is one of the finer threads we've had in a while...
I'm with DGIES on this one... #1 has to be the beast. When I was at MU, a case of it was about half the price of a case of Coke. Therefore, drinking it was not only enlightening, it was saving money.
#2: Wop in it's many forms
Occasionally we would splurge for High Life "hard hats" but that was usually too expensive.
RWB... ick, just ick.
Old Style - says you're from chicago.
Can't disagree with PBR as the official beer of old MU guys. Not sure that makes it the official beverage of Scoop in the aggregate. Which of these fine beverages that have been mentioned so far transcend the multiple generations of Scoop? I don't have an answer for that yet. (And horsey sauce is not a beverage.)

Mentioned Old Style because it was cheap. At bars it was PBR pitchers when available.

I could be wrong, but "cans" of RW&B at the Lanche?!? I don't think so. Long neck bottles from '82-85 and then when those were mostly banned, plastic cups.
And yes to the returnable cases of Various Wisconsin products for under $4.00/case net at Marquette Liquors.
