Milwaukee Bloody with bacon infused vodka and Horsey sauce for heat. A chaser, side car of Riverwest to cool it down. The garnish makes it.

Actually, this is correct. Especially if it was bought with spare quarters at The Avalanche Superbar.

RW&B was put out of its misery in 1992.  It's legend will always live on, but even some of the old farts here haven't had one.

When I googled for the picture, I saw an article reporting that they resurrected it on a limited basis in 2018, but I think it might be dead again.

Yeah, I read the same... and the wikipedia page features Marquette and the 'lanche.

As it should. I wonder what percentage of RWB sold in the late 80s and early 90s was at the 'lanche.

QuoteThe Avalanche Bar & Grill, an iconic drinking establishment on the campus of Marquette University, reportedly sold more RWB per capita than any other tavern in America or abroad. Patrons often purchased it (at .50/can) for no other reason than to pour it on the floor, providing a slicker surface for 'naked beer sliding', a late night tradition made famous at The 'Lanche.

Uhhh, false.  The Lanche was selling RWB's until May 1997.  Now perhaps it was stop being brewed in 1992 and they had 5 years of stock left to unload but it was available for purchase up until 1997.

Ew, gross.  I was going off of a date I found on a website dedicated to 'dead beers' and it said 1992.  I couldn't find any official end date of production in my two minute search.

What you're too fancy for a 5yr old beer? Haven't you ever sat on a bourbon aged stout for a few years? Same thing!

I have a celler and fridge in my basement for just such a thing...  Aging 'lagers' is not something I'd recommend.  :D

My nominees:

1) Miller Lite -- Brewed right down the street from our beloved alma mater and never left town.

2) PBR -- Word is they're going to brew this in Milwaukee again. If you went to Marquette before 1990, you did the Pabst tour looking for cheap beer.

3) The Fine Rhine -- Late in every semester, when cash ran short, you'd buy a case of Rhinelander, AKA, the Fine Rhine. Terrible beer, by any standard, and probably not brewed any more. Was the official beer of April at McCormick Hall and the official beer of people who didn't know any better (aka, freshmen). I'm actually wrong, they do brew this crap. https://www.rhinelanderbrewery.com/our-beers

4) Bug Juice -- A dorm staple, bug juice was the base for every dorm floor party concoction. You'd get a load of it from the dorm dining hall and pour every liquor known to man in it. Ms. Dgies once told me the first words out of an O'Donnell RA's mouth were "don't ever drink bug juice at a male dorm floor party.... ever!" Many did anyway!

Anyone who nominates milk needs to be permanently exiled to Madison and be forced to watch Greg Gard installing his offense!
