Welcome young man...
Nice.
Should be a great dude for leadership on a young team. Very good news.
His senior comp at KenPom? Sacar Anim
Alright, alright, alright!
I dont know a ton about his game because I dont watch much Big 10 basketball-I saw he averaged around 3 APG but he will be a 2 for us correct?
Great addition, he'll help a ton with culture and defensive mindset.

Going to run a lot of point I would suspect.
Thats kinda his next step to the league.
Scholarship table updated. Technically "full" for next year, but pending Garcia's final decision.

Excellent.
Welcome to MU and The Big East Darryl

Well that's interesting.
Welcome!
Great news! Teach the youngsters what it takes to be conference DPOY.
If a few guys can step up and hit some shots they could surprise.
Too bad DG wants to chase a blue blood, because he's exactly what they need to be pretty good.

Confusing that he's chasing a blue blood now. From what I recall he didn't include one on his HS list and as a McDonald's all American I'd imagine he certainly could've gotten blue blood offers if he wanted

I wouldn't say he's chasing a blue blood. The only blue blood that's reached out to him, according to reports, is UNC. Others include the likes of Arizona (no, they're not), Illinois, Okie State, George Mason and Minnesota.

Xactly
I hope he does to our opponents' star players what he did to Markus- shut 'em down. Morsell will give our freshman a taste of solid college level defense during practice and help get them ready for facing strong defenders this season.
Bam!! Let's go now! Immediate impact starter for MU. Now I know this is likely a transition year but there are quite a few intriguing pieces on our roster. Perhaps we will surprise some people in Shaka's year one? Regardless I fully expect to get back on track quickly.
Great get. We know what we are getting defensively with Morsell, but I am more interested to see what we will get offensively. He hasn't been bad by any stretch offensively, it's just that his stats have remained almost constant across the board in each of his four years at Maryland.
I know Morsell's defense is what has most of us excited, but I wouldn't doubt if the coaching staff sold him on MU by promising to let him loose on offense, too. He could go anywhere and play lock-down defense, but for his future draft hopes, the freedom to showcase his offensive ability (and decent stats) will be key. I could see his standard 7+ FGA/game easily turning into 10+ FGA, particularly of Dawson is gone. And if he's also running the point, the APG will go up, as well.
Are we confident he can play the Point?

I think he can but it'll be messy at times

I hope he does more to the opponents' star players than let them lead the nation in scoring, as those who "shut down" Markus did.
Otherwise, sure, I hope Morsell locks down the opponent's top gun, contributes on the offensive end for us, and leads a young team that will be growing on the fly next season.
how good is this kid? can he make an all big east team

Welcome Darryl. Never hurts to add an experienced player who specializes on the defensive end.

Wish he was a better shooter, but without question a solid pickup in many aspects. And gives the team badly needed experience and leadership.
Great job by Shaka and staff. Welcome Darryl!

For context, Howard scored in double figures in 28/29 games he played as a senior. The only exception was when he went 1/12 from the field and only was held to 6 points in the Orlando Invitational Championship Game.
Probably goes without saying, but the opponent was Maryland and the primary defender was Darryl Morsell.

In the game Morsell held Markus to 6, he also scored 17 with 10 rebounds on a monstrous 139 adjusted offensive efficiency. If he plays as well for Marquette as he did against Marquette, look out.
He should be a very good edition to MU, especially considering the number of young players on the roster.

Looks like he's never gotten to 20 points in a game. If there is no Dawson, that likely changes this year, aina?

Absolutely!
I also hear that Morsell literally can't dribble -- when he tries to bounce the ball, he at first does it with two hands like a 4-year-old and then just kicks it out of bounds, tripping and falling as he does it.
And word is, he runs slower than a post-pasta-dinner Davante.
Also, when Shaka tried to measure Morsell's vertical leap, he couldn't even slide a sheet of paper under Morsell's feet.
It doesn't help that Morsell has 20/800 vision and that he can't wear contact lenses, so he has to wear the kind of glasses the Hanson brothers did.
And in the weight room, Morsell can't even bench 25 pounds.
What an incompetent dope Shaka must be to waste a scholarship on this stiff. Forget that lots of other coaches wanted Morsell, too; only Shaka was dopey enough to get him.

Yes, but he's been known to not even bench press 25 pounds for over 50 straight reps!
Was Morsell the primary defender on Booknight in the NCAA Tournament? I'd assume he was, and Booknight didn't have a great game.
