1. At halftime, I was trying to figure out how MU was in the game, getting nothing from Lewis, Cain, Carton, Theo. Good Lord.
2. 2 fouls in the first 3 minute for the freshman starting for the first time. Sigh.
3. Second half DJ is what everybody wants. Hero ball.
4. So many fouls.
5. So many turnovers.
6. So much missing Theo's post defense. Garcia and Lewis looked like freshmen trying to guard a fifth year senior without fouling. Oh, wait.
7. I appreciate Perez' effort. He still needs a conscience.
8. Greg is better starting.
9. Clearly a goaltend early in the first minute of the second half against Lewis. Hand came up on the rim.
10. Painful on the eyes. Painful to the heart. Moving on.

Great picture of a Wojo-Dukiet fan copying up to him.
Not sure how you can even appreciate Perez's effort. At one point it seemed the offense was running through him.... And Dawson was rolling his eyes.
Want Dawson to even consider a transfer? Keep giving Perez a bunch of touches - shows how incompetent the coach is.

Did you see Dawson rolling his eyes? Neither did I.
But I do agree about the offense running through Perez for a short stretch last night. After the third time they fed him, I laughed and made some wisecrack about that apparently being Wojo's new offensive game plan. Thankfully, it didn't continue.

To be fair, I think everyone rolls their eyes when Perez shoots. Although it happens so quickly, it's hard to catch.
The thing about last night's ugly win is that if we were having a good season, many of us would say, "It was ugly, but one sign of a good team is being able to win when you're not at your best."
But when mediocrity has set in - when we go through a season in which we rarely are at our "best" - it's just another ugly game, one we happened to win because our incompetent opponent has been a clown program for decades.
So while I am still "happy" (for lack of better term) that we won, because I hate losing, I'm certainly not celebrating the win. (Though I have no problem with the players celebrating briefly in the moment.)
A few other observations ...
++ Lewis got called one offensive foul for "hooking" his defender and he could have been called for it at least 2 other times. He needs to get out of the habit. Next season, when hopefully we are decent again, it is going to cost us possessions, perhaps even a huge possession in a winnable game against a good team.
++ DJ has as much talent as any player in the Big East. It's not realistic to expect him to be go-go-go for 40 minutes - even Jordan took possessions off, even LeBron takes possessions off - but he needs to be more active more of the time. Perhaps a full offseason and preseason will help him (and others) with his conditioning and consistency. If he can take that next step, he can be a first-round draft pick.
++ Didn't know Koby could dunk. I can't remember another by him, though maybe I'm just forgetting. I certainly can't remember another "F-U dunk" like that from him.
++ I love Elliott's energy and look forward to him being one of our leaders next season. Ideally, he will be a 20 mpg instant-offense kind of guy rather than a big-minutes starter. That means Wojo (if he's still the coach) needs to bring in somebody who earns the starting spot over Greg.
++ Dawson already is a good college player. I am looking forward to seeing how good he can be next season.
++ Good on Theo for giving it a go. He was missed.
++ We finished with "only" 14 turnovers but it seemed like more.

You are correct.
I watched a game last night with the 2 worst teams in the conference this season and it was U G L Y.
A win is a win but this program is sliding towards a regular battle of the 2 worst teams duking it out for 10th place.

Correction. It is not sliding towards, it has already arrived. When you are on par with DePaul, you have failed miserably!!!!
Side note: the last 10 minutes (all that I watched) of the X v. GU game last night may have been uglier.

I know I'm a hopeless optimist, but I don't think this program is sliding toward that at all.
A few "ifs" are necessary - mostly involving the return of our top 3 players, decent contributions from a couple of next year's freshmen and the signing of a good transfer - but I can envision MUCH better results next season. Yes, even with Wojo.

Those saying this was the ugliest game of the season have not watched much college basketball. Lots of ugly games including your example above. Specifically, they haven't watched a lot of DePaul games. This is what they do, ugly up games so they can stay in the game in hopes of just scratching out a win. I watched Seton Hall beat DePaul earlier this year and the Pirates didn't score a FG in last 9 minutes.
It was not a good win. No one is saying it is. But those trying to spin it into a indictment of the program are overexaggerating. There's already plenty to indict the program on, last night falls somewhere between 88th and 94th on the list.

You need to watch more college basketball.
For example, in Texas A&M's home loss to LSU, the Aggies led 66-60 with 8:50 to go.
They didn't score another point the rest of the game. Zero points in nearly 9 minutes!!
They were 0-15 from the floor, missed the front end of 1+1 (the only FT attempted in that span), committed 2 turnovers, and let LSU finish with an 18-0 run. They were jacking up wild 3-pointers, many of which didn't even catch iron.
I know all this because it was on ESPN's "bad beats" - the over-under on TAMU was 67.5, so they only needed to make one basket or 2 FTs in the final 8:50 to cover ... and they didn't!
Obviously, with such horrid basketball - just another disappointment is a season that has them in 13th place in the SEC - Texas A&M must have a terrible coach, right?

I doubt there is anyone left here who likes Wojo, thinks we are good right now or will be soon or doesn't want a new staff right now. But for some people, that means the only thing you can ever talk about is how horrible everything is.

I'll confess that I'm becoming a fan of his presence on the court for a variety of reasons a few of them have 0 do do with his stat sheet contributions but we're at the 'it's entertainment' portion of this car crash of a season:
- I assume he's making those shots in practice and it'll start paying off in games because a) we can't count the number of transfers that have been written off their first year only to become valued members of the team (some never did but many have), and b) even with the injuries he'd have a shorter leash if he wasn't making them in practice (insert "that would be true if Wojo was a competent coach" comment here)
- His flat footed running style makes him look like molasses to the point that every time he keeps up in transition I'm surprised and, he's not the fastest on the court but, he keeps up.
- Ben Steele had a great tweet that was spot on and cracks me up every time he backs someone down to the basket (paraphrasing) "JP backs a guy down with the confidence of that sweaty guy at the Y during a noon game". And, he's pretty effective at getting that position ...... again I assume the % will go up.
- there is a greater than 50/50 chance I get a text from someone not an MU fan when he's shooting free throws that is basically "wait, is he standing there on purpose?"
Some will have issue with this because it's looking at the positive/entertainment side of things.
