No Justin Lewis today for MU, right leg injury.
Opportunity for Osa.
Or give Cain some time at the 4.
Would be a great opportunity for Oso to get a run. It literally can not hurt us anymore than where we have been.

This
literally is not true.
Against St. John's last time, Lewis had 13 (on 4-6 FG 5-6 FT), 7 reb, 2blk. He has had several other good games for us, including the most recent one at Providence, and he contributed the biggest single play for us the entire season.
So not having what Justin is capable of doing definitely can hurt us, and not having the depth he provided probably will hurt us.
Ughhh.
Yup looks like a break-out game for Oso. How bad must he be in practice?
Are they red shirting him?

there is no point to redshirt. everyone gets an extra year

1. No point this year
2. Aside from injury they can't. Hes played this year.
Thanks, he can't get a few minutes???
Shockin' if da roster duzant turn completely turn over next season, one wey or 'nother, hey?
Agree on the turnover next season. I can't imagine how the three who never play can even be asked to return. All aboard the transfer portal!

its as if Wojo recruited a roster he has no use for. Odd. Season is a dog and Oso gets no PT. Dex, well, he must be bad. Sy is overmatched. I mean, was it all a swing & miss?
Anyone know Justin's status for today's game?

Based on Wojo's postgame comments, I wouldn't expect him to play. It sounded like he hurt it Saturday and there wasn't much of a timetable.

This says he's still out...but the quote that they use to justify that assertion doesn't really confirm that.

That sucks ... though some here will claim it's no big deal.
More minutes for NBA prospect Jamal Cain.
Or, as one scooper believes, an opportunity for Osa to step up.

Well, some here claimed it was no big deal for UCONN that Bouknight got hurt, and that it didn't play any factor at all in a recent loss. So yeah, I think you're right about that.

That's not what happened and I think you know that. There were posters suggesting that if the same thing happened to Marquette, some posters would claim that the injury was just an excuse. Also pointing out the reality that basketball is a game of runs. UConn built a huge lead without Bougknight and managed to collapse and lose also without Bougknight. Whether you build a lead early and collapse late, dig a hole early and the comeback is too little too late, or you lose a back and forth nailbiter, they all count the same.
Creating hypothetical arguments to fight with hypothetical posters is exhausting.

Just like Juan Toscano-Anderson, all you need is a chance. I think Jamal can capitalize on the extra minutes. More time on court = more time with the ball in his hand and improving his handle.

I was just thinking that the one thing we need more of this season is Jamal dribbling the basketball.

Agree for the most part. To Your Speaking of this "season being a dog" Other than beating UW and Creighton, hopefully Marquette can turn this season around against the bull "dogs" 🙂 We Are Marquette! Go Marquette!

Things aren't looking the best for a post season run. Why not use the remainder of the season to develop young guys and work to get the seniors to the NBA? While we might not have a national championship in our sights this year, we can still make it productive for the program.

A lot to unpack here but "we might not have a national championship in our sights" is an interesting point...

I think this account is probably Chico, BUT, I'll agree with this post in spirit. If Lewis is out again today, there's no reason not to give Osa at least a few minutes to see if he can play.

Because for Jamal to get to the NBA, he isn't going to do it based on a handful of games this year. It will be a couple years in the G League that gets him there - if that.

I don't think "more time" is what JC needs. He's had plenty of time to improve his dribbling and it is still an adventure every time.

I do agree. There's no reason he shouldn't get a small run if Lewis is out. Let the guy with fresh legs give us a few hustle minutes.

i do think MU has a good win upcoming. Whether it's a win next week at #3 'Nova or beating Creighton a 2nd time. Something good will happen...with Oso, Dex or Sy playing a big role.
Cain to NBA. Oso, Dex or Sy breaking out to lead us to an upset of Creighton or Villanova.
Are any of you required to use past experience in your daily lives? There was no reason for Oso not to play against the SJ but today is the day?
Am I missing the tongue in cheek?

My understanding of Oso is that his defense is significantly ahead of his offense (which is more because of his bad offense than good defense)
We were trailing virtually the entire game against SJU. I could see a situation today where we build a lead and Oso is given some minutes because his defense is passable and his offense is not needed.
We are also still technically in the race for the NCAAT. It's a very slim chance with 6-2 or 5-3 and a BET championship game appearance being required, but it's still a chance. If that chance slips to zero, I would hope that Wojo would use the lame duck games as an opportunity to get Sy, Dex, and Oso some game reps.

Just saw Lewis in a boot during pre-game. Looks like he's out.
Sidenote - I just found the pre-game show on Youtube. Does this air for every game?

Yes it does. I've only watched one though because apathy. But also, is that guy 18 or 65? I feel like he could be anywhere in between.
Haha. And he looks like a husky 6'9".
Any updates on Justin?
Osa looks like he weighs 150 on TV......I can see why he is not playing.....He needs to go on some kind of 5000 calorie protein diet and work with the strength coach.....
You can not play in the Big East with his present body.....
Probably has the skills......But the body is major issue....
Yes. "Is there a Justin update"? Woukd be a big loss if he can't go today.

not having him hurts alot. the guys that take his mins are a big drop in talent
Lewis out is a huge loss in threat of scoring, scoring and rebounds. We don't have a sub at his level. I think we win most of our losses with him. Not Villanova tho. Lol
