Can't argue with that. He was a top contender before it, that iced it.
Carton at Creighton
Carton.
Carton baby!
Carton.
Gotta be DJ but boy did Greg help turn the game.
I only saw part of the game. Greg is far from our best player but the guy deserves tons of love. He is always the first to cheer others and is so all in. Love the guy even if he is not our best guy. He deserves to a of credit tonight.
It's DJ, but it's really hard to not say Greg because he was monstrously huge.
I wanna give it to Elliott badly but DJ was the man, start to finish. Proud to be a warrior after this one!
Elliott
I think you have to give consideration to the player that contributed over the level you can expect from that player.
He also was key in getting us the lead.
Give it to Greg. Huge spark off the bench and keeps alive the streak of A different SOTG for every win
Carton. Just absolutely impressive and such an important player for Marquette. Love watching him play basketball
Greg, he was special tonight
DJ. Just huge tonight.
Props to Greg and Dawson.
What a pleasant chore. Went most of the day and much of the game not thinking I'd have to worry about this.
Haven't looked at the box, but the difference tonight was obvious. I love Greg, and he had a great night, but DJ was the difference tonight and we would not have contested very well without him.
DJ. 5th win, 5th different stud.
DJ. This is the PG Wojo has been missing since he arrived.
Elliott turned the tide of this game, but DJ played very well all night and hit the biggest shot of the night.
Props to so many others -- Dawson ... Theo ... Justin ... Kobe Klutch at the line. And Wojo, too. Just a nice team win over a very, very good team.
Toss up between Elliot and Carton. Both played great games, but Elliot's production was much higher than expected.
DJ

Well it seems either choice would keep that streak alive.
G Reg. DJ was amazing, but there was a break in the action where he looked at G Reg for support.
Elliot.
DJC and Dawson awesome in their one way
DJ dame to play - More catch and shoot Greg please - deserves 5 a game - Dawson decision making looks to be tuning
DJ all the way. Anyone noticing Koby has quietly become our most consistent player? Can really count on his production game in, game out.
Crap. I just jinxed him for the Hall.
Co-MVP with DJ and Greg. We needed both.
DJ. He's a stud.

If Koby just plays damn 2 guard the whole game hes and really, really solid BE player.
DJ SOTG. Honorable mention jump ball tie up of the game to Cain after DJ missed the free throw.
DJ, Greg but I want to also call out Magic with a double double and a couple of blocks thrown in.
Carton. The point we have been missing for years.
DJ.
GE was such a huge spark. Koby was big. Great 2nd half by Garcia.
You guys are forgetting that Carton missed the front end of the bonus, which could of cost us the game.
Kobe was quiet, but his 2 FT's at the end were crucial

He hit 4 at the end. I totally trust him at the line in the clutch. Earned that trust repeatedly last season.
He also did a nice job defensively on Ballock in the second half.
Very solid game by our 5th-year senior.
3J Carton.

But did not.
And he hit the, by far, biggest shot of the game for us.
Lots of studs. DJ will only improve from here. Let's give this one to Greg. HUGE first half when needed when CU was on fire. We are Marquette

MU82 spot on, again.
Koby at the line with the game on the line is as refreshing as it gets.
I was begging for him to get the ball and then he didn't touch rim 4 in a row.
Kobe has his negatives, but his positives are Marquette type of strengths

He has done a much better job this season of getting his head right. He'd get so upset by a call or non-call or something else going against him that it would take him out of games. Plus, he shot so poorly that it was in his mind. He's letting it flow more this season, and it really helps that he's mostly playing off the ball. He's a tough kid, a super-solid defender. And a damn good clutch FT shooter.
DJ. Life is just better with a good point guard.
DJ and Greg tie.
Lot of solid contributors tonight, though.

Not forgetting anything. Who was perfect for us?
As wonderful as Greg was, he certainly wasn't mistake-free. Neither was anybody else.
DJ was good all game long, hit a huge shot at the end, made lots of big plays during the run where we took the lead for good. Had 20 pts, 5 asst, 5 reb, 2 stls. 5-7 from 3. But yes, he did miss the front end of a 1-and-1, and we all wish he hadn't.

DJ was a team worst -12 in the 1st half. Finished a +2. Meanwhile, Greg was a +8, Koby +7, Justin +6 for the game.
As much as I loved Greg's performance tonight, the overall stud was Carton. Koby and Dawson "Double Double" Garcia with the honorable mentions.

I know some o here don't like it,but I love the moxie Kobe shows to opposing players. He stared downMahobey several times at the line tonight, and delivered.
"You won't make either of these"
—Mahoney
"I'll make this one too"
—Kobe (after hitting the first, and preceding tomske the second one.)

Said DJ above but for me it could be a tie with DJ and Greg. Have been noticing Greg's solid decent +/- ratios for a couple years.
DJ was awesome tonight and is the SOTG. Then Greg. All the guys stepped up.

D.J. Carton.
Another vote for DJ.
smoke em if ya got em.

1. Greg Elliott
1a. DJ Carton

Both. I just realized I spelled Koby wrong.....twice. Wow.
Jamal and Koby were going back and forth with Mahoney all night.
Mahoney made a FT and stared at Koby for a few seconds as well. Love the intensity.

Thanks. Couldn't quite make it all out, but I like that he showed confidence.
On another note ...
Creighton twice fouled MU players who were maneuvering for an inbound pass before the ball was thrown in-bounds. They were playing with fire. It would have been easy for a ref to interpret either, especially the second one, as intentional and give MU 2 shots and the ball.

I think Lewis likes Carton missing key free throws. Game winning tip in against UW and he also rebounded Carton's miss last night.

This is an example where defunding the officiating is needed. The NCAA makes this a point of emphasis, mostly for the kicking out ploy, and they call these two inconsequential flops of concern but fall for the Creighton one at the end of the game. Greg's first was a non-contact flop and he was hit on the arm on the second. My point: Over-legislated.
Also, I would grade the officiating a D (with UCLA an F). Not so much for the refs but for the Omaha timekeeper. The clock mysteriously malfunctioned in the middle of MU's 2nd half run and again at the end when Creighton was out of time outs. This is a (little) known Creighton ploy, btw.

Do you actually have documentation on this happening a lot? Because that seems like the type of thing the Big East would've warned Creighton for

Just by observation and word of mouth (half joking among CU alums) but look for it. That one at the end was egregious.

My standards for college basketball referees are so low at this point, that when they give a semi-decent effort (like last night), I am pleasantly surprised.
The reason the NCAA has over-legislated is because their refs are the idiots who keep falling for it.
I would like to say Greg but DJ did hit that big 3 at the end (partially offset by missed FTs) so reluctantly DJ (since Greg's opportunities are more limited). That said, going to go vote now.

At least they didn't call him Justin Fields.
Had to go with Carton. Purely stats wise, could have gone with any of Carton, Elliott, McEwen, Garcia, or Lewis. I consulted kenpom for his handy "MVP" calculation and it said...Ballock? WTF. Anyhow, Elliott probably gets the surprise performance of the game, but Carton for overall game.
I do think Koby deserved more votes, more minutes and same amount of turnovers as D.J. A couple less points and rebounds, one less assist and steal, but solid game by him overall.

Agree on all of the above. Koby has had a solid season for us, and had a fine game vs evil Creighton.
Well-chosen DJ pic ... and I have a feeling we'll be seeing it quite a few times this season.
