DK has future lines out, MU is +8 vs Wisconsin on 12/4. Moneyline is +295 on MU.
+8? That seems very high. I know home court will likely be less impactful, but that's a lot of points. I'd take MU in that spot.
It was weirdly out on Sunday and was +9 when I got in.
Kenpom has the UW game as a 1 point spread...
Anyone else notice now the spread on ESPN is 3.5. Has to be a mistake right?

UW -4 at my book.
As mentioned earlier Kenpom has it at UW-1 so I'm not too surprised. I wish I had the faith to take MU ML but I don't see it.

I've been looking at this too and I don't think that its a mistake. Vegas Insider says it opened at 8.5 but down to consensus 3.5 now. Odds Shark has everyone at 4 or 3.5. I have no way to explain the huge shift.

Nope. Concensus is 3.5 for Bucky.
Which I am going to pound hard. Really hoping to lose it. But thats too good of value imo.

CBS App has it that as well.
there were a few sites which opened overnight at 8.5, with MU being +325
Most every book now has it at +3.5, and MU at +150
over/under moved from 136.5 to 138

Agreed. MU +8 would've been the smart play, but UW -3.5 seems like a no brainer.
Maybe word got out that Douchey McNutgrabber will be shaving points.

You jest, but a big man that can put down threes using nothing but net or the backboard, is an unusually talented commodity. Gotta be worth some point on the line.
stabilized a bit this morning with Wisconsin a 4.0/4.5 point favorite.
over/under dropped to around 134.
MU moneyline at 1+155/+160
which would forecast the Badgers winning a 69-65 game.
MU won't be able to handle Wisco's defense as it's too early in the season to solve the Notorious Z.O.N.E.
This will be a low scoring affair, but Wisco will be better on offense due to experience and talent. Wouldn't be surprised if MU shoots in the 30's FG% this game as Gard will bring out the zone and outcoach Wojo in dramatic fashion. MU doesn't have a reliable scorer that can get points almost at any time nor present any mismatches. Prepare to see some ugly MU offense.
Take Bucky to win by at least 8 and the under 134.

Outstanding analysis!
It was amazing how little you got right here, but I do hope you at least bet the under to have some reason to cheer. I doubt the win made you happy at all.
Happy to see my pound it strategy failed miserably.
Enjoying the win. Will try and make it back tomorrow on some football and hoops
I'm still in shock that I've seen multiple people who seemed to think Bucky would press and zone us because it worked for OSU. I mean, in the 20ish years of the Ryan/Gard era, they never press or zone against quality opponents. They are probably one of the most rigid defensive structures in terms of adhering to man. It's hard to take anyone seriously that puts Bucky & zone in the same sentence without a "never" mixed in.
And for good reason. Defense wasn't Bucky's problem last night. Too many turnovers and flat out missed shots is what did them in. Bucky isn't going to change up their defense. As you said brew, this is how they play.
System coaches are great...but they do have a weakness. They rarely deviate from their system, even if their opponent as an obvious weakness that could be exploited.
It was bad against OK State, but I'm not sure zone will always flummox us the way it did on Tuesday. It's a young season, they can grow and I'm sure the coaching staff is anticipating that a lot of opponents will throw more zone at us given the OK State tape.

The first article is 12 years old and doesn't refer to the Badgers using press or zone but it being used against them:
"An aggressive 2-2-1 press and active zone defense confused the Badgers and forced several turnovers and bad shots."The second video clip is from an interview talking about how they experimented with it once 4 years ago against sub-300 Chicago State.
You might want to try paying attention to the "evidence" you post before actually using it defend your bad takes.
I'm not sure which is more ridiculous.......the rigidity/stubbornness of Greg Gard or you Brewschitty or Bruschetta. Asking 5+ seniors to play basic zone is not a difficult task, especially against a team that was murdered by it the other night. Stupidity loses games. That was evident last night. Wisconsin had issues with MU's size and a zone could have helped negate that. Some people don't understand how basketball works I see. Let the pro Wojoers eat up another overrated win against a team that was overranked. It always happens early in the season. Of course, they don't understand the X's and O's and see the game in great detail.

To the former, anyone that pays remote attention to college basketball knows Wisconsin doesn't play zone. That was just a bad take.
To the latter, if you think I'm pro-Wojo, you haven't been paying attention this week or the past year.

LOL. He's right. You are wrong.
Wisconsin isn't going to play zone. They simply are not going to do it. We all know it(aside from you apparently), our whole team knew it, their whole team knew it, the rest of CBB knew it. They don't do it.
Myself and a few others even said it in the Ok state game when the meltdown was occuring. "At least Bucky isn't going to zone us".
Its the Wisconsin way and they don't deviate from it. Unfortunately for us, most of the time their style leads to them having really good seasons.
If there was one thing Gard could be questioned on its the fact he sat 3 senior vets with 2 fouls in the first half. Didn't trust any of them to not pick up a 3rd.

Either way, he should just be ignored.

For once, just admit you were wrong. It's really not that hard to do.
You were wrong about your initial certainty about what would happen in the game. You were wrong about what was in the articles you posted as "proof." And you were wrong in your criticism of brew.
Be an effen man and admit it.

If anything, those reinforce what I wrote. Press & zone aren't a tactic they use, it's a tactic they are frustrated by. And when they do bust out zone, it's against one of the worst opponents in the country. Kind of funny.
Knowing how Bucky plays, I'm still surprised they didn't try it given how atrocious we looked against it Tuesday. Do it once out of a TO or end of half, see what happens, go from there.
Akin to a hitter facing a shift all season without even attempting to go the other way.
What happens when Syracuse tries to play man? What happens when any team tries to play 180 degrees away from their normal tendencies? A slow team plays fast, fast team plays slow? Wisconsin was not going to do the opposite of their tendencies for one game.
