One of my favorite MU rivalries is with Cooley & Company. They are not a hated rival in my book but definitely guys I enjoy seeing us beat on a pure basketball level. They always have those athletic teams, so the win is definitely well earned.
The History of the series has been fun and spirited games. Who can ever forget the bat game and Cooley terrified of the bat. Markus first 50 point game . Henry leading the charge over the Friars when they were rated 8th. DAvante 60 foot shot waived off for being to late.
Cooley is smart and good coach but also has that slightly wacky way about going life. Loved the miked game and hearing him rip on the refs, Coaching with a towel while his pants were torn. Ect. Now hearing Wojo says he hopes their team goes to Real Chili at 3 am the night before the game. Just adds to history of humor around this.
This twitter post cracks me up.

There is respect, as there should be. I think Cooley is a solid coach. I bear no ill will toward Providence. I just want to kick their butts every single time.
And yes, I hope the Friar team is hanging out at Real Chili at 3am.
Still upset we played that ice rink game at the dunk.

Yes. Another one was the Bradley Center Bat attacking no other than Kadeem Batts.

Which is why it's a travesty that they dressed up the golden eagle as batman against nova instead of saving it for tomorrow
Exactly. Batman golden eagle for Nova? ok
Next 5 are very winnable. Let's start with this one tonight.

But definitely one of the candidates to "steal" on the road. We'll need 1 or 2 of those if we want to get where we're hoping to.
open MU -5.5 and 145.5
ESPN has an 82.8% chance to win for MU. I was surprised when I looked at this before the Villanova games and they had MU with something like a 64% chance to win. Let's hope they are correct again.

I believed it opened with Marquette at -8
Down Tuesday morning to -5.5
I never bet on MU games, but I like us giving 5 1/2.
I would been on wrong side of bet on Saturday by a wide margin, but would give the 5.5 tonight.
I like Cooley. I hate Austin Croshere.

I think I'm less confident in MU -5.5 than I was in MU -2 vs. Nova, but I do think I'll take MU -5.5.

78% chance in KPom. 77% in TRank.

I'm guessing the eagle does that when we wear the black jerseys. I'm guessing the black jerseys were due to being on FOX. Maybe the players really like them, otherwise, not sure why they wouldn't go light blue or gold.

The Sparrow was spotted at Jimmy John's in a walking boot. We can only hope the Batman is the new mascot.
Providence has replaced Butler at the top of my list of loved Big East teams. Cooley is the #1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10th reason.
#3, 5 and 7 is because I like saying "The Dunk"

I also really like Cooley. The only ill will I have towards them is that Diallo is a POS douchebag. Great player but a complete clown. Probably my least favorite player in the conference after anyone on Seton Hall.

At first glance, it was weird seeing Nova coming out looking like they were in our light blues while we came out in black.
Took a few minutes to sink in.
I don't mind the black jerseys, per se, but not a fan if opponents are gonna wear blue, light blue or gold.

Herb Pope, dark horse candidate. But yea, Devendorf.
Some mentioned Croshure but God Shammgod was worse IMO.
Whose the guard from the Bobby Gonzalez Seton Hall era that undercut Dom James? I thought he had another dirty play too.
Let's not forget Douchenozzle from WVU.

A costume-wearing animal mascot wearing a second costume inspired by an entirely different animal. There's no explanation I can think of that makes any sense at all.

The team wore the black uniforms and the Eagle likewise was dressed in black.

I am not upset that we played it. I am still upset with the refs who gave the ball back to Providence every time they slipped. That was a joke.
My "player" joke for the DePaul loser as already been addressed so I'll leave that one.
But not sure on the Diallo hate. Feel like he's been pretty much a non entity in our match ups from villain standpoint

I guess that's a reason. But why wasn't the Eagle simply wearing a black MU uniform instead of the usual gold MU uniform? Found this on the site for Olympus Mascots, the company that redesigned the costume in 2018:
"The Golden Eagle mascot has outfits for basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and volleyball; generic branded outfits for university and community events, and even has a bowtie for weddings and things like that. The Golden Eagle mascot can wear anything that a person would wear, so we really like that feature this year." Matt Michalko, Marketing AssistantMaybe the mascot will wear a toga the next time the team is in home whites. Or a chef's uniform. How about a lab coat?

I don't mind Providence at all now, but my Freshman year at Marquette (2011-12) they were such an annoyance. They had no right being in that game. Ugh, Bryce Cotton.
Wish I had a little patience and hadn't jumped on MU -8 when it opened. Hoping for a blowout.

Last year in Milwaukee, he decided that he was gonna show Markus who was the man. He was super chippy with him and others. Mean mugging the crowd. He completely took Markus out and then stood over him which lead to Sacar coming over and pushing him away. He played like all of the douchebag Cincy teams, and that's not what i normally associate with Cooley
Cooley doing his usual thing chirping at the refs. Nice jacket tonight.

I actually do remember the standing over him part now that you mention it.
Cooley gets the best of us tonight. Looking forward to beating them at the Dunk.
