Is he worth showcasing every game just so Marquette gets some national press on a regular basis even at the expense of other players development and perhaps even wins?
Many seem to have already written off this coach this team and this season so should Wojo focus solely on getting Markus 30-40 shots a game for program recognition.
If you're not going to win the conference or make the tournament you might as well go all in on individual honors. If the fans can't enjoy a winning team at least they can enjoy a singular talent. I guess the question is would attendance and viewership be affected positively or negatively. Seeing as the season is already a bust that's all that really matters now. Right?

Pass.
Michael Jordan was must see TV.
You can see the same thing at the Y on Saturday mornings, hey?
Markus is only must see tv if he averages close to 10 assists a game. Otherwise he just doesn't have the physicality to be eye popping. You can find same style, scorers like him in the mid majors as well.

Dumb. When he drops 50 I don't care how many assists he has.

You're not reading into the statement enough. If Howard was averaging 10 assists he'd be much more of a dynamic player..... something you'd have to tune in and see all the time. Howard doesn't drop 50 every game, if he did....then he's must see. Otherwise he's a shooter, of which, you can find at other levels of CBB. If Howard was must see, he'd be featured on the major networks/prime time, etc.

I don't think you know how TV works.

I agree with this analysis.
This fan base is a disgrace and deserves nothing if they can't appreciate Markus Howard.
Yes, Markus Howard is must see basketball. Period!

He has to be the most under appreciated player in MU history. It's disgusting.

My God are you out of your depth as if you had any. The things you have said the last 72 hours just keep rolling.
Games are largely predetermined as part of a contract with broadcasters and the conference. You'll notice in today's nationally televised game the promos run all week talked about MU with Markus Howard.

Many years ago in the 70s I used to work out at Y . There was an old guy in there , a dentist by profession, who would control the gym for hours on end . It was winners stay on the court . That cat , who was in his late 50s early 60s ,was must see TV. Had a nasty ass set shot and great court vision.

So the repeatedly demonstrated ability to put up 30, 40 and even 50 isn't enough to warrant fans tuning in ?
With all the variables in college basketball I have no idea what this teams overall success will be this season(actually I'm thinking low seed in the big dance) but the one constant I'm fairly confident in is Markus consistently putting on a show. And I'm going to enjoy it. I'm also hoping big time recruits enjoy watching the freedom Markus is afforded and consider coming to Marquette.
I enjoy Markus` offensive ability. He has unique skills and I am glad he joined MU.
I would not sacrifice wins for any one player. That is not a knock on Markus. I simply place more value on the MU program than on any individual player or coach.
I don't understand this thread. All of the games are already scheduled on the tv networks, so "showcasing" him won't make a bit of difference in that respect. Markus is always the first, second, and third thing brought up during Marquette broadcasts, and when MU highlights are shown on FS1 and ESPN. We already showcase him every single night—he's averaging nearly 30ppg. If we make the tournament, when they announce our seed, they'll say, "Markus Howard and the Marquette Golden Eagles." He was picked to be a pre-season first team All American. What more do you want? What more could there possibly be?
Wait a minute, are you the "Joe" from that old Peter Boyle movie from the early 70s, somehow transported through time to the year 2020? You have a lot to learn, my son.

Are you seriously comparing a 50-60 year old guy from the 70s playing in the Y to Markus and D1 competition??

Yep, sometimes you have to take your Glasses off to see what is happening.
Looking forward to a huge game today from Markus.
Fox Broadcast network.

I'm looking for 25-30 pts, 6-8 assists, 5+ rebounds and a couple steals. Less points and more assists if/when Nova tries to take him out of the game.
Yeah I know, low expectations.

Pretty much on track for what I was thinking which was a big performance in general . Probably will end up with what your thinking specifically.
Arguably the best scorer in college basketball within the last decade.
Hold on.
Are there actually Marquette "fans" here saying Markus is no different than a mid major shooter or a aging pickup player?
You're either trolls or morons
We're going to miss this kid more than most can possibly imagine.

Yeah we will miss him.... Though I saw some signs today when he was on the bench that the team will be successful post Markus. Different for sure, but still successful. Especially with the incoming class+ ( fingers crossed ) " Kareem Mah nay "
Also saw some signs where they looked incredibly clueless as to what to do when he was on the bench. Wasn't pretty. We'll be fine with his replacements, but can't understate the importance of appreciating what we have right now as fans.

Point taken, though I have to believe that the guys currently on the team and those coming in will continue to improve. Specifically Symir. Really hoping he makes great strides by next year.
