Question:
How many more wins do we need to punch our ticket?
Option 1: 6, against anyone. 20 wins with the 4/5 Q1 we already have will be enough. Bubble always soft.
votes: 28
Option 2: 6, with at least one more Q1. 9-9 against mostly BE bottom feeders won't cut it
votes: 15
Option 3: 7, against anyone
votes: 36
Option 4: 7 with another Q1 or 8 against anyone
votes: 22
Never too soon to start thinking about March. What do we need to put on our dancing shoes?
I think we get in with 6 more. But 7 more to be a stone cold lock.
I'm thinking about tomorrow.
Honestly I think a 6-8 finish would do it, provided wins like Buffalo, Louisville, Wisconsin, and K-State continue to hold up.
That being said, let's just go 14-0 and remove all doubt ;D
The answer is always against anyone. The "easiest" path would be winning our six non-Nova home games (all 67+% per Pomeroy). If the argument is we need that Nova game for the Q1, that means taking of the others and turning it into a worse loss. Any 6 would do.
But it's irrelevant because we're winning the league 8-)
1-0 against Georgetown tomorrow night will keep us on the track we need to be on to win the BE.
If this question upsets me I can't imagine what Guru is thinking. I very much don't want to be thinking what is the minimum amount that we have to do. If we finish 6-8 and make the tournament as 10 seed that would be embarrassing

Just nice to think that we could be playing for "seeding" by mid-February. A nice change from seasons past.

(knocks on wood) Very much agreed. Bubble watch is not enjoyable

That only makes a difference if you play for the team.
7 wins is a lock. 6 depends on bubble.

Typical beta comment.
I have been pretty consistent on this:
12 Big East Wins A Lock
11 Big East Wins Probable
10 Big East Wins starts to Gets Dicey
This is not a year a 9 win team in conference will get in.
Lunardi says these are conference numbers
CONFERENCE TEAMS
Big Ten 10
ACC 8
SEC 7
Big 12 7
Big East 5
American 3
Mountain West 2
Pac-12 2

It depends on who the 9 win team is. We would be in with 9. Seton Hall would have a shot. Maybe Nova depending on the bubble. Butler most likely out. Everyone else definitely out.
Look at last year's Pac-12 standings and bids to confirm this. Arizona State got in at 8-10 while USC was left out at 12-6. The heavy lifting we did in November and December gives us more margin for error.
Why do we have to through this every year?
Last season we were 9-9 .......NIT 2 seed
Butler 9-9 in conference.....10 seed NCAA.....
Full body of work.......conference record isn't a thing.......Nebraska was 13-5 in the Big 10......didn't get a sniff. 5 seed NIT.
Let's get the 7 wins, preferably with #7 coming on National Marquette Day, and then start worrying about seeding.
(Kinda sorta wades like there, I admit.)
I mean barring some sort of monumental disaster...they are playing for seeding right now.
How does this sound?
We Will do great until the last 5 games. 12-1 or 11-2. There are 4 in a row, 3tough roads and CR here, that will set our seed. 4-0 in those we are elite 2 seed. 3-1 3 seed, 2-2 were a 4, 1-3 a 5 seed, 0-4 6 seed.
We'll win the last one at home regardless. And 1-2 wins in the BET

I agree with this analysis (except for me it's a not-too-bad drive down I-95!).
Oh, I have an idea. Let's win the conference tournament just to be sure.
