Good to see Sacar on early. Sammy? Not so much.
Good to get X in early foul trouble too

Need to see a few shots fall from someone not Sacar. Sam is cold. Good news: very on target for FTs early for Marquette.
Crowder and the Utah Jazz just walked in.
Was that a 2 or 3 from Markus?
This might be the worst crowd I've ever seen at MU in my 10yrs following. I've been to high school games with more energy
Let's keeping Warriors!!
JAMAL!!!!!
Shame his good D got punished on the other end of that play
Looked like an unbelievable block by Jamal after a nice save on that pass from Chart. Hope Jamal gets some run today.
That was a helluva play by Cain. And I don't care what the zebra says, that was a clean block on the other end.
Cain showing he is able on that play.

Yes—need to run away with this.
Early start time really looks to be impacting both teams. Lots of sloppiness on both ends, although Marquette is definitely playing with more energy.
Anim with a great start for us thus far. Love our rebounding too.
Need to have a big win on national tv
Both Howard and sam have been taking giant dumps on the floor this game and last. Lucky that Xavier is a good matchup for us. They clearly are not good.

Theo John is just the guy that does curls in front of the mirror at the gym. What in the world is that guy doing out there today? Just a foul machine and can't make a layup
Feels like we should be up 25. Xavier's playing awful but we're not setting any records either
Anim looking great today. If he keeps this up .... good things will happen for us.

Agreed. Kinda frustrating. Offense needs to run through Sacar and Joey today.
And because we haven't taken advantage of Xavier sleep waking we'll likely have a fight in the second half
Nothing but negativity in the game thread. Shocking.
How nice it is to be able to play like crap on offense with a ridiculous amount of foul trouble and still be leading by 9 at half.
Reffing is something else. Not one sided. Just....something else.

Only 3 guys scoring for us in the first half. Would like to see others get involved on offensive end.
just awful shooting, but Xavier is even worse. some of those 3s...whew! What's up with Sam lately? can't buy a bucket, looks frustrated. Perhaps the team is nervous with Bucks and Jazz watching?
Would like to see Joe do a little more out there. He pauses every time he gets the ball and lets the defense get set. He's been really proficient throwing it off Xavier's feet though.

If it's not a handoff, Joe will either find an opponent's foot or a ref's foot.
Those lazy bounce passes into the post may have worked at Fordham, but the BEast is a difference story.
Refs sure know how to make a basketball game hard to watch. Gotta let them play a little. This is not a good product.

The foul on Markus to get him FTs was a terrible call. The 2nd foul on Heldt was horrific. Joey got the ball slapped out of his hand and they call a travel. Both teams should be annoyed
Hankins sits for 16 minutes, MU still up 9 after having 16 point lead.
X did not make a three and missed 8 free throws.
Theo, Ed and Heldt have 6 fouls and no points. Like said, only three MU players scored.
Sam and Markus went 2 for 11 from three. Markus missed a front end free throw. Lots of points left on the floor.
Sacar having game of career, along with Joey.
Contain Hankins again and have Sam get going and should pull this out.
MU Bench a whopping 0 points at halftime

Ugly first half, but nice to be up 9 with such an ugly performance. That's definite improvement over last year. D is so much better. Xavier isn't ver good, and losing Hankins didn't help, but, we are playing physically.
We do lack overall athleticism and that will be what limits the ceiling of this team.

I think there was justification for frustration that first half even with the lead. Xavier was sleep walking as bad as any team I've seen this year and we seemed to play down to them
What's wrong with Sam? Seems a step slower and his shot just hasn't been there season.

I agree - we played poorly. Would hope to see some positive posts about the play of Sacar, Joey, and the defense but those are few and far between. Just the nature of a message board I guess.
There is no flow to this game with all of the whistles.
Also hilarious moment in first half after the Cain block the ref yelled at the bench to sit down not realizing it was the media timeout.
I disagree with the idea that Xavier was sleepwalking. Our defense made them look bad. I only remember a few open shots given up and at least 2 of them were threes to a career 25% 3PT shooter.
This might be the worst game Sam has ever played. Not used to seeing that from him.
I need to modify the OP with my prediction.

Perhaps it's confirmation bias that I notice it more. Just feels like he is missing a ton of wide open 3s this year. Probably compounded by the big drought games.

You're not wrong. Even the 42% was below what he usually gives us.
Can Ed not dunk??
He's had two amazing moves but followed it up with maybe the worst trick shot lay up ever and then a biffed layup.
MU gets zero offensive production from the Center position. Unreal how incompetent those three are offensively. Wow. Just wow
Ed, playing an otherwise very good game, simply cannot make layups.
I've said this before, but Sam seems like one of those players that needs to get going early or he doesn't get going at all. This is the third game this season where he's missed his first few and ended up with a bad game. I can't think of a time where he he had a bad first half and then came back with a huge second half. Its probably happened and I'm not thinking of it, but it seems to be a pattern.

It was a more subdued atmosphere than recent games like Buffalo, UW-M, and K State, but it also was never close. In a tighter game, the atmosphere is better.

Look if nobody had called me out and told me how wrong I was when I said that the student section would be dull over break maybe my expectations wouldn't have been set so high.
Also I remember driving up for Georgetown my freshman year and West Virginia on New Years my sophomore year plus an ND game and all of those were loud and crazy despite break.
Georgetown was a 3-point win, WVU was a 5-point win. Both were very close and in doubt into the final minute. ND was close into the first and we didn't really pull away until after the under-16 in the second.
Today it didn't feel close at any point. Once Joey's three made it 11-3, X never again cut the score to two possessions. Hard to compare that to comparably narrow margins.

true but doesnt explain the lack of jumping for the opening tip, or lack of turning and yelling "sucks" during opponent intros. that all happens before the game.
I understand that maybe there's more intermingling with the non student crowd over break, but I called it weeks ago before buffalo that it'd be low energy and got shot down on here by multiple posters saying otherwise simply because it had sold out.
