Nevada down 10. Officially dangerous now.
Loyola is 10-10 shooting this half. Only up 9 with Nevada about to shoot 3 free throws. Nevada has them where they want them. Apprehensive for Loyola.
MU out placed Michigan in Maui. For such an average experienced team with well-below average height, Loyola sure can play great defense.

Average experience? They start 2 seniors, 2 redshirt juniors (so seniors), and thier best bench player is a senior
If Nova wins, and Michigan loses before the final 4, I will win 700+.
Tx A&M is not helping my cause.
Gotta love a Marquette Warriors reference during the Loyola game.
Cool stat shown on CBS, Nevada is trying to become the 5th team to win their first 3 tournament games after trailing at half time. Marquette and Al in 1977 were the first team to do so.

Huggins is as fat as Ewing. Following in the Majerus school of coaching
Maybe I'm a little pessimistic from the season still, but it feels like MU is a long way from seriously competing in a game like WV/Nova. Not we could win one in every 5 tries, but favored or at least a pickem in a game like this.

Back when we played his teams, either Cinci or WV, I thought his teams had great determination and skill. That combination overcame the fact that Huggy is basically a human stain. This WV team had all the determination of past teams but tried to make up for the lack of shooting skill with juvenile intimidation BS.

Zero chance? I don't think we can say that. Sure I don't expect it but I would hardly call it impossible. What if he loved this postseason run and wants to do it again? If he looks around and thinks Loyola is loosing too much he could consider transferring to a better situated team.

Custer and Townes are both grad transfer eligible. Loyola also loses three seniors. If Moser were to leave, that program could drop right back to the bottom of the Valley.
As great a run as this is, it's also been a charmed life escaping the first weekend by 3 points and lucking into a 7 and 9 seed in the second weekend. The players have to know that too.

Yep. Loyola's a missed shot away from being a 1st round exit.

Agreed. It's rare that a team gets deep in the tournament without close calls. This could just as easily be Miami and Houston. Or what if Vander Blue's layup in 2013 rims out? That's what makes the tournament so great, but also why it's risky to put much stock in its results.

You think 8 fouls in a row on Texas Tech while none in the same timeframe against Texas Tech were all legit? This coming off the heels of Villanova getting similar treatment early in the 2nd half against West Virginia when they were falling behind.

Tech and West Virginia repeatedly place two hands on the offensive player as they are driving to the hoop. They also reach tremendously often.
Automatic fouls. West Virginia was actually lucky they did't call more. They foul every possession.
Nova is strong with the ball so the reaches, grabs become much more obvious as the ball is never jarred loose (can make it look like a clean steal).
Yeah Nova vs Loyola would be ideal.
Villanova 4-21 on 3s. Ugh. And they're open 3s for the most part. They need to find some offense or will be going home. TT waking up on offense a little.

I call it as I see it. You remember the game we played at Villanova? They were in the bonus 6 or 7 minutes into the 2nd half if I recall correctly? To me it's a trend I see when I've watched them.
Villanova gets fouled because they are all strong with the ball, all can shoot from 3, all can get to the basket, and run their sets to perfection.
And have big guards.

Ahhh
So the issue here is your vision
Every team has a poor game in the tournament. It looks like Villanova is going to survive theirs.
Another ref conspiracy, ugh.
On side note Nova goes 4 for 24 from three, but shoots 30 for 36 from the line.
Good win for BE, keep it going.
Nova hardly broke a sweat. Only way I see them losing is a team shoots a ridiculous percentage that Nova can't match. It could happen but they've been the best team all year
Villanova's best is better than anybody else's best.
Interesting stat. Jay Wright hasn't lost a second weekend game in over a decade. Nova is 6-0 in Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games since 2009. If you don't beat Nova in the first weekend, they are going to the Final Four.

I just got two more looks at that blocking foul that fouled out Duke's Wendell Carter.
I didn't think it was a bad call at all. It looked to me like Carter leaned to the left so his shoulder got clipped by Newman, who was clearly trying to avoid contact.
At worst, IMHO, it was a borderline call. Certainly not in the "horrible call" category.
Here's what Carter had to say about it:
"No matter what I think, how I felt about it, he made the right call. I have respect for that call."
Classy answer for a kid - even though he probably thought the call was wrong.

I don't know if this matters to anyone, but wanted to give an update. I have a friend who covers the NFL for ESPN, and the writer reached out to me on Monday asking about our interest in doing a segment for ESPN's Final Four coverage on my son and Malik and their friendship. We were of course interested, and the writer gave me a bit of info on the inner workings of ESPN (which for anyone working anywhere, would fall in line with what you'd expect in any organization). The writer's NFL bosses asked the College Basketball folks if they were ok with the NFL writer doing the story. There's a particular college basketball writer at ESPN that has a lot of creative control, and already had stories planned for KU this week, and he shot down the idea of giving our story over to the NFL writer. Long story short, you won't see us on any ESPN coverage this week.
I'm by no means mad or disappointed, I understand the college basketball writer is trying to protect his turf. just wanted to share this with anyone that was curious.

A couple of media organizations have called asking if my son and I can make it to San Antonio so they can do stories on my son and Malik for their Final Four coverage. I don't think my son Bradley is going to be Kansas' version of Sister Jean, but you might see us pop up if you're watching some pregame shows this weekend.
Bradley > Sister Jean

Maybe it's meant to be as part of the build up for the Championship Game. That might be the Destiny of your story. I hope so Great Story.

Is this the college basketball writer that likes to hang out in Lithuania following around a certain family?
