Man is Loyola fun to watch
-
Nevada guy tried to do “the Thing” and whiffed.
-
Chris Weber>>>>>>>>>>>Cheryl Miller.
Man, I just can’t listen to Cheryl.
-
MI toasting TAMU.
-
Ramblers can do this.
-
Couldn’t believe that Texas A&M team blew out UNC and it’s even harder to believe now
-
Nevada down 10. Officially dangerous now.

:)
-
Loyola is 10-10 shooting this half. Only up 9 with Nevada about to shoot 3 free throws. Nevada has them where they want them. Apprehensive for Loyola.
-
MU out placed Michigan in Maui. For such an average experienced team with well-below average height, Loyola sure can play great defense.
If by the grace of god...

Average experience? They start 2 seniors, 2 redshirt juniors (so seniors), and thier best bench player is a senior
-
If Nova wins, and Michigan loses before the final 4, I will win 700+.
Tx A&M is not helping my cause.
-
Gotta love a Marquette Warriors reference during the Loyola game.
-
Cool stat shown on CBS, Nevada is trying to become the 5th team to win their first 3 tournament games after trailing at half time. Marquette and Al in 1977 were the first team to do so.

Rank 144 on Pomeroy. 1.80 years versus NCAA average of 1.70.

I know that's where you got it from. But 5 of their top 6 players are 22 years old with 4 years of college ball under their belts.

Wow Loyola hahahaha
-
Sister Jean!
-
Awesome game. Go Loyola!
-
Hey, Chris Webber , how many time outs left?
-
Dude is holding his knee and they're talking about a travel...
-
Great story. Fun team. Fire up the ice cream truck for Custer

It was a travel.

What happened to the Tennessee moron who posted about Sr Jean?

Not convinced that the Nevada player didn’t foul before the travel.

Can we play offense like this next year?

I can’t see KSt finishing this, but that would be sooooooo great for LU.

The walk on’s may play if this continues. For all the ref haters out there, don’t watch this game.
26 total fouls in first half. KSU has 16 and three guys have three fouls apiece. Kentucky has gone to the line 23 times.

For Loyola's sake I really hope K-State pulls this out.

Famous last words, I know, but the right side of the bracket is going to obliterate the left side

Really surprised that Nova is struggling this much to beat the WVA press.
-

Gillespie is so bad wow
-
Unreal how half the nova guys have to sit out the whole half with fouls
-
Huggins is as fat as Ewing. Following in the Majerus school of coaching
-
Maybe I'm a little pessimistic from the season still, but it feels like MU is a long way from seriously competing in a game like WV/Nova. Not we could win one in every 5 tries, but favored or at least a pickem in a game like this.
-
Wow. You look at the defense that West Virginia plays. Omg. Smothering Villanova on every possession. Wow.
-

Smothering. Fouling. Same thing
What happened to "2 hands on an offensive player is a foul"?
-
Huggins teams have not changed over the years. Physical as hell. Deep. When they have enough shooting, they are tough. Same stuff he did at Cinci.

If Novas gonna win this, it'll be at the line

Huge run for Nova!

Huge run for Nova!
Great run. Hope they can control the stretch.

Don't mess with 2nd half nova.
-
We should have recruited Devincenzo

Nova went from comatose to en fuego!
-
Incredible dunks and blocks in this game.
Any chance Theo can provide those moments consistently by his senior year?

Not trying to imply that fts matta, but when your in the double bonus with 10 minutes left you should be attacking

I’m just kidding
I got what you were saying 😁
Nova didn't even need fts, further advancing JBs stats, pulled away with their jump shooting.
-
I miss the Huggy vs MU games.
-
I like how the best way to break the press has been throw the ball up to Bridges and no one can jump higher than him.

Jim McIlvane Kentucky flashback.
-
Duke v Syracuse is basically unwatchable.
-
I miss the Huggy vs MU games.
Back when we played his teams, either Cinci or WV, I thought his teams had great determination and skill. That combination overcame the fact that Huggy is basically a human stain. This WV team had all the determination of past teams but tried to make up for the lack of shooting skill with juvenile intimidation BS.
I don't miss playing Huggy at all
-
I miss drinking with Huggy at Turners.
-
Purdue v Texas Tech. Even more unwatchable.
-
Lovers of defense are enjoying it.
-
Lovers of defense are enjoying it.
Yes we are enjoying seeing all these defensive teams in the S16. It takes a great offense to win it, but in a crapshoot, a great defense brings you luck.
Thank god it's Lent.

Agreed. But I can see MU competing with Nevada, Kansas State, Loyola, Cuse.
In the tourney it's just as much about luck
Of the draw as it is about skill and depth etc...
-
Is it just my imagination or has Grayson Allen been at Duke for like 10 years?

True dat.

Nah, you're trippin.
-
If Grayson Allen shot 3's as well as Cain, much less Rowsey, Howard or Hauser, Duke would be up by 17
-
Bagley is really good at anticipating where the ball will be.

Agreed. The chance (if there ever was one) probably went out the window when they won the MVC tournament to make it in.

Coach leaves. Best friend graduates.
It’s possible
-
I realize not all schools have an open scholly but Custer on the open market would have no shortage of suitors
-
Started to have flashbacks to Illinois comeback against Arizona in the Elite 8 in 2005. Luckily for Loyola, ain't nobody on this Kansas St. team can shoot like Deron Williams, Dee Brown and Luther Head can.
-
There is zero chance he takes the team to a Final Four and he transfers even if the coach leaves. Don't be ridiculous.

With his buddy Ben Richardson graduating I could see it. Doubtful still but I could see it

I thought no teal needed.

Zero chance? I don't think we can say that. Sure I don't expect it but I would hardly call it impossible. What if he loved this postseason run and wants to do it again? If he looks around and thinks Loyola is loosing too much he could consider transferring to a better situated team.
And that's just one of many theoretical reasons

Okay 1% chance and it's losing not loosing, sorry, pet peeve.
-
Custer and Townes are both grad transfer eligible. Loyola also loses three seniors. If Moser were to leave, that program could drop right back to the bottom of the Valley.
As great a run as this is, it's also been a charmed life escaping the first weekend by 3 points and lucking into a 7 and 9 seed in the second weekend. The players have to know that too.

Yep. Loyola's a missed shot away from being a 1st round exit.
Michigan had a pretty similar run. Buzzer beater in 2nd round, 7 & 9 seed in the 2nd weekend.
Luck and good fortune played a role in both runs. It can be a thin line between disappointment and elation.
-

Agreed. It's rare that a team gets deep in the tournament without close calls. This could just as easily be Miami and Houston. Or what if Vander Blue's layup in 2013 rims out? That's what makes the tournament so great, but also why it's risky to put much stock in its results.

This is not a good start for Villanova.

This is not a good start for Villanova.
Not too bad at the under 12

The refs then knew they had to intervene. I have never seen a perimeter oriented team get so many calls like they tend to when a team poses a challenge.

Dude. Texas Tech fouled the shooter like 4 times in a row.
It was horrible defense not poor officiating.
-
Brunson not playing very well so far
Nova still up
-
2 for Bridges and spellman.
-
Dude. Texas Tech fouled the shooter like 4 times in a row.

You think 8 fouls in a row on Texas Tech while none in the same timeframe against Texas Tech were all legit? This coming off the heels of Villanova getting similar treatment early in the 2nd half against West Virginia when they were falling behind.
-
Tech getting good looks from penetration whenever they want. Nova still looks like the best team I’ve seen this year
-

Yes.

Texas Tech has 9 fouls total
Nova has 7.
Again, they smacked the arm of the nova shooter 4 times in a row
-
2 for Bridges and spellman.
Yeah appears refs are rigging it for Nova!!!
-
Villanova is relentless on offense. Good enough on defense. Lots of long arms and good switching.
-
Nova v Loyola. That would be something
-
Go, Catholics!
-

Tech and West Virginia repeatedly place two hands on the offensive player as they are driving to the hoop. They also reach tremendously often.
Automatic fouls. West Virginia was actually lucky they did't call more. They foul every possession.
Nova is strong with the ball so the reaches, grabs become much more obvious as the ball is never jarred loose (can make it look like a clean steal).
-
Yeah Nova vs Loyola would be ideal.
-
Villanova 4-21 on 3s. Ugh. And they're open 3s for the most part. They need to find some offense or will be going home. TT waking up on offense a little.
-
Star Wars moment..... I've got a bad feeling about this.
-
The refs then knew they had to intervene. I have never seen a perimeter oriented team get so many calls like they tend to when a team poses a challenge.
How's your conspiracy theory now in the second half?
-
Good call. Remember when the refs were biased for Villanova? So wrong.
-
How's your conspiracy theory now in the second half?
I call it as I see it. You remember the game we played at Villanova? They were in the bonus 6 or 7 minutes into the 2nd half if I recall correctly? To me it’s a trend I see when I’ve watched them.
-
Villanova gets fouled because they are all strong with the ball, all can shoot from 3, all can get to the basket, and run their sets to perfection.
And have big guards.
-

Ahhh
So the issue here is your vision
-
Every team has a poor game in the tournament. It looks like Villanova is going to survive theirs.
-
Another ref conspiracy, ugh.
On side note Nova goes 4 for 24 from three, but shoots 30 for 36 from the line.
Good win for BE, keep it going.
-
Nova hardly broke a sweat. Only way I see them losing is a team shoots a ridiculous percentage that Nova can’t match. It could happen but they’ve been the best team all year
-
Villanova's best is better than anybody else's best.
-
Interesting stat. Jay Wright hasn't lost a second weekend game in over a decade. Nova is 6-0 in Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games since 2009. If you don't beat Nova in the first weekend, they are going to the Final Four.
-
Duke is a really stupid team
Horrible shot selection
Duval raking contested 3s is almost funnier then Carter taking 3 3s.
Grayson has fallen off a cliff since his sophomore year
-
This guy New man from Kansas is a big time stud.

Wait, 4 freshmen can be a dumb team?
-
Duval bad turnover trying to dribble thru double team, with Duke up one.
Then, Trent bad shot. Both lead to Kansas scores. They should have gone to Bagley, but did not.
Newman helping himself big time with draft potential in tournament play. I mean Ayton from Arizona is probably number one pick, but some team gonna be very lucky with Bagley, he is a player.
Go Nova, should be good game vs Kansas.
-
Way too much Allen shooting the ball. He’s not who he thinks he is
-
Wow, excellent game on a big stage for the game.
-
Graham gives me hope that MH can step into the point
-
I feel like a proud parent right now, so happy for Malik.
-
Not the deciding factor obviously, but I thought Duke got hosed on Caters last foul. That looked like a clear charge to me

Probably the most textbook charge I've seen all year. Was shocked to see that go the other way.

Yeah, I remember how you posted the closeness he has with your kids and the family. Outstanding game for him, he really delivered in the OT. Congrats.

Stoopid Coach K.
Playing zone killed the Dookies. KU kept finding the middle of it and getting open looks. Only a matter of time before the shots went down.
If only a Scooper who knows more than every coach could have told K to not play zone.

Yep.

Good question, trying to coordinate with Malik, my wife/kids. Trying not to bother him tonight to see if I can get my wife and two other kids tickets too, figured I’d talk to him tomorrow or Tuesday. His phone has to be blowing up. I’m actually in Austin right now, and when my flight landed, I was surprised/ecstatic to have gotten a text from him about an hour after the game had ended.
-
A couple of media organizations have called asking if my son and I can make it to San Antonio so they can do stories on my son and Malik for their Final Four coverage. I don't think my son Bradley is going to be Kansas' version of Sister Jean, but you might see us pop up if you're watching some pregame shows this weekend.
-
That’s so great!
Maybe throw a Warriors shirt on the boy?

I haven't been a fan of Kansas since 2003. You are making me like them again!
-
I just got two more looks at that blocking foul that fouled out Duke's Wendell Carter.
I didn't think it was a bad call at all. It looked to me like Carter leaned to the left so his shoulder got clipped by Newman, who was clearly trying to avoid contact.
At worst, IMHO, it was a borderline call. Certainly not in the "horrible call" category.
Here's what Carter had to say about it:
"No matter what I think, how I felt about it, he made the right call. I have respect for that call."
Classy answer for a kid - even though he probably thought the call was wrong.

Classy as well for Bagley, after he threw that Bad pass in the finale seconds I read his face as thinking as disappointing as he was he quickly, mentally suck it up to control his emotions. I like this Guy.

Duke/Kansas was the highest overnight Elite 8 rating in 13 years.
Sunday’s Kansas-Duke NCAA Tournament regional final earned a 10.1 overnight rating on CBS, up 6% from last year (UNC-Kentucky: 9.5)

I don't know if this matters to anyone, but wanted to give an update. I have a friend who covers the NFL for ESPN, and the writer reached out to me on Monday asking about our interest in doing a segment for ESPN's Final Four coverage on my son and Malik and their friendship. We were of course interested, and the writer gave me a bit of info on the inner workings of ESPN (which for anyone working anywhere, would fall in line with what you'd expect in any organization). The writer's NFL bosses asked the College Basketball folks if they were ok with the NFL writer doing the story. There's a particular college basketball writer at ESPN that has a lot of creative control, and already had stories planned for KU this week, and he shot down the idea of giving our story over to the NFL writer. Long story short, you won't see us on any ESPN coverage this week.
I'm by no means mad or disappointed, I understand the college basketball writer is trying to protect his turf. just wanted to share this with anyone that was curious.
