Is this guy saying Ken Pom doesn't matter and only RPI does when it comes to the data rankings?

A team's KenPom is considered along with the other metrics. But the only metric the committee uses when grouping a team's wins and losses is RPI.
For example, Marquette's Q1 record using RPI is 4-7. Using KenPom it's 6-9. The committee don't care about that second one.
On a whim, I decided to calculate our quadrants using the much more accurate KenPom:
Q1: 6-9
Q2: 3-3
Q3: 3-0
Q4: 5-0
Dang, I wish they used KenPom for the quadrants

Are there any losses that fall out of Q2 with RPI?

Are there any losses that fall out of Q2 with RPI?
DePaul and Georgia are both currently Q3 losses.
Thanks for providing that, auburn. Very useful to know what they're looking at.
This sentence caught my eye in Palm's explanation:
games in November mean just as much as games in March
When determining quadrant record, do they use gameday RPI or end of season RPI?

This is why the DePaul loss, while bad, isn't as bad as people think. In terms of recency bias, we think "crap that's a huge loss right as the committee is deciding bids!" In reality, it's no more detrimental now than if we swapped it with a loss 1 or 3 months earlier. The key for us is the quality at the top of our resume.
The biggest teams for us to cheer for this week will be Creighton and Georgia (aside from against bid thieves). Those teams with a win or two could move up from a Q2 to Q1 win and a Q3 to Q2 loss. That would really polish the resume a bit.
I also noticed injuries are NOT considered. ND fans take notice.

End of season

ND will be very interesting. The computer numbers are pretty good (even RPI isn't terrible) but the lack of Q1 wins along with 3 Q3 losses seems like a killer. Hard to justify their inclusion but I've seen stranger things.
Hard to imagine that all human element is eliminated. Hard to imagine that there will not be at least some committee members talking about how a team finished, injuries, superstars on roster, etc. Selection committee members ARE only human. No?

I don't care if ND is in or out, but by the numbers and stated criteria it really should not be that interesting. They should be out. I guess what will be interesting will be watching Bilas, Williams, Greenberg and the rest of ESPN pleading the case for ND. But everyone knows that your not going to get unbiased reporting from ESPN any more when it comes to the ACC.
I want the Seton Hall vs Creighton winner to win the BET. That would make our sweep much more impressive.

You're absolutely correct 82. When we hire people at TAMU we use a rubric to score them. But there's no escaping that there are elements that aren't on the rubric that end up subconsciously (or consciously in some cases) end up affecting our score.
For example, Creighton's AD is on the committee and he might find our sweep of Creighton more impressive than others ;D

That or he'll hate us and keep
Us out because obviously when both creighton and MU make it to the sweet 16 this year, he won't want us to play them and win. :o

Caught my eye as well. Someone said yesterday here that games in November don't count, but apparently that couldn't be more wrong.

Don't Creighton and MU have a pretty good administrative relationship too? Maybe the Creighton AD can pay us back for getting them into the Big East
