Sounded like Haani
Cheatham
Anim
Hauser
1. Haanif
2. Sam
3. Sacar
Honorable mention Greg Elliott
I'd have to go with Anim. His slashing changed the game when we finally made our run, his defense was solid, and he came up with big rebounds. Great example of how a redshirt year can really pay off.
Anim
Haani.
Sacar would have been in the running if he had made his freakin' free throws.

I hope this isn't the norm for Sacar. I'd really like to avoid having another guard that can't hit FT's.

He had an entire red-shirt year to work on his FT shooting.

SOTG should honestly be Lindenwood for hopefully scarring some life into this team both Offense and Defense. I'm not one to get worked up but what the flip was that today?
For me, it was Sam. I thought he had a good, complete game. He was a little slow getting started, but he had a good second half.
Haani by a long shot
Sam. Cheatham was good too.
A SOTG when we beat Lindenwood by 2 points? Sad.

Sacar then Sam

+1 billion.
I'd have to go Hauser. Most complete player on the floor today. Cheatham and Anim with honorable mention.

Maybe, but I think it's fair to have some criticisms of this game. That we were never able to actually take control against a D2 opponent with our starters playing the entire game isn't something to rouse confidence.
We didn't have Rowsey or John in the lineup. It's a good indication on how vulnerable we are at pg - student fans should surround Drewski everywhere he goes on campus and make sure he doesn't so much as stub his toe this season.
Anyway, a W is a W. And it was an exhibition designed to shake some rust of. More rust than we thought, and lots to work on, but a W gets a stud.
Hanni by a wide margin. Had Sacar even made 60% of his free throws it would have been him. And I thought Matty played decent ball but we don't win BEast games with Matty leading the way.

So if Sacar made 1 more free throw, he would eliminate the "wide margin" between Haani & him, and even surpass Haani?
So, so strange.

Sam was 6-8 for 20 points. 5 rebounds. Leading scorer. Played generally good defense. He is going to be underappreciated all year, isn't he

Simple answer, yes. Because he had two chances on momentum building 'and ones' and failed both times. Each time Sacar had a chance to build on the energy of the moment he didn't succeed. I still loved his game but at the most important moments he failed to be 'a stud'. Not everything is a box score JB. But from Minny that wouldn't be possible to see. I guess I'll amend my 60% to be 'hitting the and ones'. ;D

Yes he is. But the reality is that neither of our Alpha dogs (Sam and Markus) took charge in the game. It was left to Cheatham and Sacar to 'lead'. That's more on Markus than Sam certainly. Sam was 'steady'.

Dam might be underappreciated about. But Hanni was solid and I feel some are glossing over that because of the taste in everyone's mouth after last year.
Easily, the best player on the court today for MU was Sam Hauser. Not even close! Cheatham made his three 3's, but other than that, I saw everything offensively come from him going to his left again. Also, the offense slows down when it gets in his hands. Sacar was tough on both ends of the floor, but he must improve his free throw shooting. We will see a much better team the next outing.
Hauser
Anim
Cheatham

Mom,
Well, a W is certainly a W, but I don't get the rust stuff. Wasn't Lindenwood "rusty" too? We just beat a DII team at home by 2 freakin' points. Rowsey or no Rowsey, I'm more concerned about this team than I was 24 hours ago.
Goodness, the nattering nabobs of negativity are hitting their stride early this year. It was a freaking exhibition game, ffs. A sample of one. Perhaps folks could at least wait until the season starts before they start lighting their hair on fire. It's only five days away.

Sorry Mrs. Agnew, but facts are stubborn. My hair isn't on fire, but this was a stinker that no amount of perfume or excuses will make fragrant. I'm still optimistic for the season - just not blindly so.
Ahh, Lenny, but see - it's not about the facts, it's about how you respond to them.

I agree...and also love the alliteration.

Mom - the fact is we played lousy. The "spin" ranges from "OMG, we're going to suck this year" to "No problem, we're just shakin' off some rust". I don't buy Armageddon or Pollyanna, but (like the coaching staff, I'm sure) I'm concerned.

This is right where I'm at. We sucked yesterday. Anyone trying to spin that is feeding a load of crap. Sometimes you suck and win. Maybe we'll be better once the real season kicks off, but there were definitely some warning signs that felt like the same old warning signs. Here's what I posted before the game:
Quote from: brewcity77 on November 04, 2017, 08:58:28 AMDefensively, I want to see quick closeouts on shots, better pick & roll defense, and guys sticking to a cohesive gameplan.
Offensively, I want to see ball movement to open up shooters and hopefully 2-3 guys that are able to drive and open up the defense in the process. I would also like to see Markus and Elliott both getting some times bringing up the ball, as it seemed Rowsey was doing that 95% of the time against Milwaukee until his late knock.
Defensively, the closeouts were not nearly quick enough. We got lost too often on the extra pass and couldn't cover the corner three despite Lindenwood constantly going back to the same spot. They didn't P&R that much, so not a ton to evaluate there, but I have to think we didn't meet the gameplan.
Offensively, we actually did okay moving the ball and opening up shooters. There were a lot of open threes that just didn't fall. Haani and Anim both showed driving ability, and even Markus got in there a few times once he realized he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn beyond the arc. However the biggest concern was Markus did get to bring it up and was awful. Elliott did better late, but didn't get a lot of opportunities.
I had a half-dozen or so concerns and most of them didn't seem to meet my expectations. That's concerning. I'm not throwing in the towel, but this team needs to be better than they were Saturday if they want to dance again.

This would be true. I didn't recognize the reference and thought it was her own use of alliteration.
