Paint Touches, et. al. descended on Rob Dauster (NBC's lead college basketball writer) like a swarm of locusts when he tried to minimize MU's top 50 win stat.
To be fair, we are being a bit over-sensitive but whatever...
Links?
Paint Touches got owned.
Kind of embarrassing, but at least he patched it up some self-deprecation at the end.
Wow, Dauster is kind of douche.
I PMd and he apologized. He's a real great guy. Tough when you get bombarded unexpectedly.
But make no doubt about it, he was wrong.

He said sh*t
Eh. He wasn't wrong, he just skewed the stats.
He talked about "top 45 wins" in his statement (instead of top 50). Which excluded our wins vs. Seton, Vandy, and Georgia..
Also, when referencing Creighton/Xavier, he said Creighton and Xavier were 5-7 and 4-6 after the PG injuries. Which is accurate.
But you missed a big point of rebuttal...The ONLY loss out of those 13 during that span to a non-tournament team was to Georgetown... Over 5 weeks ago. The remaining 12 were to Providence, Nova, Marquette, Seton Hall, Butler (and Xavier for Creighton).
Those are all tough games. Not BAD losses.
But at the end of the day.. His points were valid. We've had tremendous luck with scheduling, at the expense of Creighton and Xavier.
But there's no need to get in an argument saying that Rob called them bad wins (which he didn't). Just call them out for being misleading with their #'s.
Rob's been selling MU's resume short down the stretch in the times we've come up. Think he'll be wrong come selection dynasty

It's still playing with numbers to support a narrative. Not our fault that we played teams short handed. We still had to take care of business.
Like Paint Touches said, he moved the goalposts for his narrative.
And he was a douche about it, he wasn't wrong, but that's how sports writers work.

If his overall point was correct, what's the problem?

We lost players too. Not nearly at the level of Xavier or Creighton, but Carter was thought to be our starting pg.

Well, as much as I love Traci, that changed rather quickly.
Because you could do that with lots of teams who have less convincing resumes then we do.
Top 45 isn't a thing......because if it is then Wisconsin is in trouble. I mean at least we beat those teams and beat them easily. UW lost at home to Northwestern without their best player.....they got blown out at Michigan State which just lost 1 of their best players.
They have 2 top 50 wins all year.
Everybody is talking up Vandy now that they beat Florida for the 2nd time.....we killed hem
Everybody assumes that Arkansas is safely in. Well they beat Georgia today without their best player. They gave 3 top 50 wins and 1 of them is UTA.....
I could almost understand it if we barely beat Creighton and X but we easily won those games......and we looked damn good doing it......
Ps Vandy is now at 45 in the RPI so Robb has to include them in his new made up metric.
He reiterated it in his column today. Whatever. All 4 x and CU games weren't close. I'm not sure what else Marquette could have done in those games.
Shout out to Jaybee who called him out on his crap on Twitter .
Im afraid he may be correct, its been horrible but literally everybteam we are battling with has won. If the commitee sees it the way some do we could be incredibly didappointed next sunday. Its been crazy but between wake, vandy, the BE teams n on n on all of our peers have won n done us no favors. Unfortunately our rpi is not great. I still see seton hall as a game we best win.

He is correct, that is not debatable. But he's gerrymandering a bad statistic. The committee doesn't look at your Top 50, they look at the record.
MU is a lock. The RPI is fine now.
I am not concerned with any one bracketologist. Whether it is Lunardi, Palm, or Dauster, etc., individuals are very poor at predicting the s-curve.
Crowd wisdom is much better at predicting it. Bracketmatrix is far more likely to be correct.
Plus, our profile projects very well compared to last year's bracket.
I'm hoping to post a longer analysis later tonight. I'm going to use RPI wizard to project various scenarios and crosscheck last year's profiles. That should give us a good idea of what seed we'll get.
Right now I project us as a 10. Win BET , and we're a 6. I'll give a more thorough breakdown later, including everything in between.
True story.
Paint Touches blocked me on twitter a year or two ago because I politely but respectfully disagreed with their opinion about a topic I don't even remember. Pretty funny. That has never happened before or since with anyone else. It was bizzarre.

We are in.
And nbcsports has MU as a 9 seed in their update today. Safely in.
He's just getting a rise out of people.

Fair or not it was awesome how strong and loyal our army is. I love that about us. Every one of these writers know they are gonna get it when they write about us because we have such a strong passionate and loyal fan base.

Actually several teams we are competing with lost. TCU, Cal, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Georgia, UT-Arlington, etc. The bubble is becoming smaller and we are far from the edge of it.
