After losing 4 of the past 5 games, it's clear that Marquette is at an all-time low.
Wojo was the single worst hire in the history of the program. He's a fraud and a loser who doesn't know the first thing about coaching — which is why Coach K was so excited to finally get rid of him at Duke. If MU had hired the right coach, they'd be back in the Final Four by now. Probably even contending for the national championship.
Instead, this team will not only miss the NCAA tournament once again — an all-time record streak of futility — it's going to lose every game for the rest of the schedule and challenge DePaul for last place in the Big East (which, by the way, is at an all-time low and will never again be as good as it used to be). Odds are the conference will drop MU after the season and replace us with St. Louis.
Nobody wants to watch this team (ratings and attendance are at an all-time low). Nobody on the team wants to win. Nobody shows leadership. Nobody plays defense. Nobody is athletic. Nobody has improved — or will ever improve. Nobody in the administration cares about anything besides paying Wojo's humungous salary and spending outrageous sums of money on the basketball program (accountability is at an all-time low). Nobody sees the faintest hint of light at the end of the tunnel.
About the only thing to look forward to is the NCAA demoting Marquette to Division II basketball for failure to compete, or MU dropping the basketball program altogether just like it did with football (another one of the biggest failures of all time).
Aren't you an angry elf...

There's so many blatant errors, it has to be fake.

We'll see how we finish down the stretch. My advice is not to overreact to recent poor performances, the same way fans should have tempered their optimism following great performances against Creighton and Villanova. That's called recency bias, and doesn't necessarily reflect the current reality or predict the future with any accuracy.
Take your own advice maybe.

Not nearly subtle enough....it ain't bad, but it doesn't make me rethink whether or not I live in the Matrix.
Definitely fake.
Considering 6 conference wins would have us nowhere near DePaul or in last place
That shoulda been the giveaway
Go back under your bridge, Troll.
Whether you've read my posts or not, I didn't even think this was close.
I'm an optimist, a long-time backer of the MU basketball program and Wojo believer. If this wasn't clearly understood to be sarcastic, either:
1) I just plain suck at sarcasm;
2) The original post, meant to show how over-the-top and ridiculous the rampant pessimism on this site has been lately, hit closer to home than I realized; or
3) Sarcasm is dead.
This just further elevates Jamal Cain's importance as a recruit.
Fake News
Another take on this:
What if the sarcasm was the other way. Wojo is a diamond of many facets. We have NBA players in waiting. 5-0 down the stretch and elite 8 minimum...just you wait and see!
No way that troll would be believed yet Marcus' downside troll got some to bite and even had to post it was sarcasm.
I am also an optimist and mull around how a 4-1 finish might happen. And even daydream about how a sweet 16 could become reality this year! But the sad truth is, the negatives outweigh the positives and if I had to bet my paycheck it would be on a 2-3 finish.
Im colorblind ans couldnt see the teal. I still understood the sarcasm. Come on people.
The sad thing is if someone doesn't recognize that as sarcasm.
This was funny. First good thread of the week. I think I see the sun coming out now.
I see a 30 point win on Saturday, and Newsie and I speaking Spanish and full of mamajuanna.
Our only hope is to put JJJ in as the point guard....and the center. Sort of a Magic JJ Johnson point center.
Was that supposed to be in teal???
However, one salient point - since the new Big East formed, the only school Marquette has more wins than is DePaul. MU does have the 9th best record in the Big East the last 3 3/4 seasons.

Is Hiroshima here yet?
Umm Hiroshima happened or I believe it happened from reading posts here in the past.
What we have to fear next is Nagasaki!
Do we not have a practice of typing comments like these in teal? :)

Wrong.
That dubious distinction goes to former head coach Elmer "Stripes" McGillicuddy, who reportedly made his players eat bowls of crushed coal before games and conducted practices on top of pullman cars at the trainyard when they did not, in his mind, "earn their stripes".

So the bumblebee uniforms were a throwback to the McGillicuddy era. Neat.
The Xavier game is a MUST win. Another home loss will further cement Wojo as a fraud.
Just win baby

I was hoping to generate a legacy of imagined history for MUBB! Something the children of our children would use to re-create Scoop after the apocalypse. A dystopian scoop, moderated by NersJrJrJrIII (they say he can dunk 3 balls at the same time).
Ideally, the bumble bee uniforms would have been the result of the one time the BOT decided to rename the team to the Beer Bees, for the bees that were attracted to Milwaukee for it's cream colored buildings and open vats of fermenting beer used as a sugar source for their enormous bee hives - some as big as a city block.
Even though this was meant to be sarcasm, it is a bit of a fail that MU spends the second most on its basketball program behind Duke and yet has been mediocre now for four years running.

But, we might be first in graduation rate or GPA in the Big East, but then who cares? Oh, the BOT cares.

The bumblelees were developed by Bo Ellis (probably during a psychedelic experience), which is likely why the NCAA banned them. But they were awesome!

Agreed, but how about Syracuse, Louisville, or God forgive me, Virginia Tech? Watching Villanova is a little like watching grass grow as well. Dribble, dribble, bounce, bounce, pass, pass, shoot....score.
To change the subject slightly, or explain myself, St. Johns had grit, guts, character, spunk, drive, whatever. They are not that good, but they play like alley cats. That is something that must be recruited, it can't be instilled. It is something that people who need to prove something have. It comes from within and can't be instilled. I don't see it in people of privilege, I see it in warriors, call it a nothing to lose mentality. It is not about X's and 0's or skill or plays, it is about something else. When you see it you recognize it and
our program does not have that something.
O.K. we win some games we should have lost, and we lose some games that we should have won, but the common denominator is a lack of that special something.....that winning something.
I loved it when Wojoe took the team to a cold playground in NYC without their fancy uniforms for a practice last year. It worked for a game or two, but it can't be an everyday thing. I really feel the frustration that he must be feeling.
The coach for Depaul has that same look on his face during games......

Would some history major please do a professional history of the basketball program at MU. Yes, Bo was a clothing designer, might still be for all I know, took classes at Milwaukee School of Design, if memory serves me.
1976-77 were the years, what a coincidence, Al McGuire left the program to become a partner in a clothing company that did what? It designed high school basketball uniforms, o.k., college also.

Maybe they incentivized him to be more out there but there's no noticeable inspiration
