Very loud and larger than usual student section
For the past few years im sure. It was filled every conference game in 11-12 and 12-13
Students 12 rows deep in upper deck... about 10 empty rows up there
Luke at the line....
No bueno
We look awful.
Raking up fouls too
Two bad calls in a row
We've had 1 good possession in our last line 10

Wow, two airball threes, Luke with a foul 25 feet out, turnovers, nothing. Made three layups, thats it. 6 points in 8 minutes
Wake up guys.
We just look so lethargic on offense. 6-8 with 12 mins to go in the first is not cutting it
After that first 45 seconds, this has been UGLY.
5 turnovers and 5 fouls already. Thank goodness the defense has been great, otherwise........

Could not agree more. Not too bad on defense but our offense is AWOL.
Solid d
Shots will fall
Looking like a hangover right now
The last time they played this poorly, they got down 17 pts to the #1 team in the nation
Friars should cool off and we should be OK. But this is ugly.
Khalif Young.
Providence looks really solid defensively... well coached. Hauser 0-3 on 3 wide open looks with one being an air ball.
16 pts with 7:00 left in half. This is karma for all you MU fans who were laughing at Madison's halftime score
Marq missing a lot of open shots. I think we will start hitting them soon. Do need to get a little more inside though.
Duane deserves more minutes... his defense so far has been stellar

Yes
PU hitting the wide open threes, MU is not. PU also has missed a bunch of free throws thank god, but MU is very, very, cold.
And after another run, MU with another foul off offensive board........
Gonna run out of players. Keep it within 5-4 at half, with Luke back and should be OK
Rinehardt standing n watching instead of rebounding
Smh
Forgettable first half from Katin
Knew this let down was coming it's why we are a bubble team
Everyone started talking about passing Butler
Man, we can't buy a 3 right now.
Providence can't keep shooting like this, right?
MU will flip the box score in the 2nd half. We got this.
PU 7-9 from wide open threes, MU is like 3 for 13. Getting ugly, the old defense is back giving them up.
Didn't see this coming, this bad.
Let's look on the bright side. We can't blow a half time lead.
Jjj defense even worse than normal
Did anyone really not see this turd performance coming today? Freaking regression to the mean
I guess he figure hes not coming out
MU 5 for 14 from three.
Defense went to crap midway thru the half . Jjjs man responsible for prolly 20 of it. Hopefully be ok in second bench jjj for cheatum n solidify the d
Sorry, everyone. I wasn't wearing the quarter zip I had on for creighton and nova. Made the costume change at half so we should be golden.
They won't keep shooting 78% beyond the arc. Expecting a very different second half.

Wont continue hitting 80% on 3s. JJJ was our only offensive weapon for most of that half. Dont know what game you were watching. Youre hatred is so blinding.
Rock can we please get the ban hammer out of the attic?
Same old scoop, I see. Even after Sultan's warnings. Patience, grasshoppers.
Most things not going well for us this half, most things going well for them. If it turns just a little it's a tie game at worst.
Both teams have 12 fouls. Fischer and Cheatham sat, but so did Bullock/Cartright. Fazekas killed MU hitting threes, while KR did not off bench. PU bailing MU out by missing free throws, but MU has also missed a few with Heldt missing front end.
PU is 7-9 from three, MU 5-14
MU has one offensive rebound
Can't give Bullock/Lindsay/Fazekas open threes by doubling others on defense.
Big task ahead for the boys and I presume getting an earful right now. Heads high everyone.....
Less dumb risks on D, less head down driving on O and we're good.

He is only a negativo. I think Sand Knit is still a fan. You have negativos and positivos. But they are all fans. There are a few around here though that are not fans and pretend to be. Those are the ones that deserve the ban hammer.
Mac pointing out is all about rebounding in this one.....
JJJ our leading scorer.
Their bench outscoring ours.
All bad signs.
Definitely a bigger crowd than the nova game but way quieter. Need to get them in this
I have always enjoyed our series with Providence . Hopefully we can dig down in the second half and pull out a victory. Crowd will get loud when we rally.
These transition baskets are so aggravating. We need to stop letting them run in transition every time they get a rebound
Rough game for Duane so far. That last 3 against him again
Defense stinks this half. Need to tighten up if We want to win.
Before the fast break there, Cartwright had three consecutive layups, three. All right thru the MU defenders. MU makes a run, then a bad shot by Hauser, a two foot miss by Luke, then the layups. UGH.
With Bullock on bench, have to get it now, with stops.

The return of mediocrity. Just terrible play by 25. He looks lost. Play D Wilson over him. Decision making is such a huge part of the game and MU baited into dumb ones.

Say what u want but watch the performances of luke n jjj. Watch jjj stand hands down as providence jacks threes in his face. Mu was down 12 specifically because they had foul trouble and jjj was in the game. Lukes 5 fouls... One was more stupid than the other

He told our best free throw shooter to drive the hole in a game where refs were calling it pretty tight on drives. The shot that was blocked could have easily had a foul called on it. The second one, credit great defense by Providence.

JJJ could have had 10 steals and 10 blocks and you would have criticized him for being too selfish and not playing team defense. Thats the point. After Luke had an incredible game against Creighton, you said he shouldnt have gotten SOTG because his previous poor performances were making us bias. Just stupid.
I would of liked a pick n pop with kation or hauser but put yourself down 1 and bad things happen. Late turnovers hurt us. I believe we turned it over 3 out of 4 trips. Hard to expect any consitancy when 2 of your 3 seniors are the most inconsistant players on the team. Its time to no longer start jjj, sends wrong message to the team.

I respect that you had an opinion. Go back and watch his fouls. They were all very poor decision given the game n roster situations. Luke wasnt as bad today as he has been but his fouling to a great degree overshadowed what he did well. His second foul? Unreal sat the whole rest of the half because of it.

Note the double-double. 20-26 from the field the last 3 games. Defensively, one man against an on-rushing tide of attacking Friars.
He did keep his hands down against one of their bigs and he hit a little face up jumper. Wojo said something about "hands up" soon afterwards. But by and large Luke had a good game on both ends. Sand Knit is simply obsessed about something.

There is no such thing as addition by subtraction unless a player is a cancer off the court. If there is a better player than they would be playing.
Luke has been playing like a grown man for the last three games. We don't beat Creighton or Nova without him. It's not close today without him. Your criticisms were warranted at the beginning of BE play. Its okay to say "he sucked earlier but he's been playing well lately." Failure to acknowledge a player's improvement simply hurts your own cause.

We are a team that relies on high FG% and 3pt%. We've rarely been that type of team in the past. I always hated playing these type of teams because they can come out of nowhere- create a lot of damage in tourneys/ conference play but only 1 or 2 games worth. We are what we are. We will beat teams we shouldn't (Villanova) and lose the same (Providence). At least we have a chance this year vs previous couple of years. Finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with hope in the next few years...even with a loss like this. Wojo trying to build a complete team in the next stage of development... not just shooters.
Went to the Bulls game last night. At one time I thought Hoiberg and Wojo were the same person. Obviously I was wrong. Hoiberg clueless..desperate..lost team. MU teams seems to respect Wojo. Hopefully I was wrong about him all along.
I agree... someone said this entire season will be a gauntlet.

Said it before and say it again, when Luke is on the floor without foul trouble, MU is capable of beating anyone in the BE. That was on point when MU beat Creighton and Nova. Yes, he extends his defense sometimes to 25 feet, but thats the MU defense scheme. Heldt does the same when he is in for Luke. If he was not in trouble today, I am certain MU would have won this game as they showed in second half with him on the floor.
As for next year, don't hold your breath too long believing MU is going to be better. MU loses Luke, JJJ, and Reinhardt and with Matt Heldt as your early probable center, well....... Yes, they have John, Froling, etc, but next year the excuse will be MU is too young. Enjoy the rest of the year and hope Luke stays on the floor.

Next year will be interesting. JJJ is very replaceable at this point. Katin was replaceable but has developed into a potent offensive weapon on the wing. Still think we can make up for it with all the guards and wings we have.
Replacing Fischer is the big question. Heldt as the starter is a scary prospect, however we have seen plenty of three star big men struggle their first few years only to blossom as upperclassmen. Froling has size, shooting, and skill but definitely needs to work on his body. John and Eke will be freshmen. If one of those 4 outperforms expectations, I think we will be better.
I think a grad transfer could do wonders for next years team. Either a defensive stopper switchable or a garbage man type forward.
Jj is not only replaceable ... He plain hurts us. With cheatum not in foul trouble, rowsey, kaitin etc i feel he should get about as many minutes as he got in the second half , or less. Hes a terrible 3 point shoot but keeps chucking. And plays bad defense n turns the ball over. He hurts the team. Its beyond question at this point. He trys to hunt points thinking thats why hes out there and believes defense is only what u do when not hunting points

JJJ has made almost 33% of his 3s and has taken the fifth most on the team this year, less than everyone except Duane and Haanif. So how about you shut the hell up for a change, and maybe actually do a bit of research before you spout off your made up poorly written nonsense. Honestly, its worse than Sean Spicer.

I do agree that his defense hurts us, but he is a net positive. In fact, statistically he's our best player. He knows how to fill a stat sheet. There was a point in the first half where he either assisted or scored on 6 straight scoring possessions for us in this game. He also only shot 1 three pointer and had 1 turnover this game. I've actually noticed that his shot selection has gotten a lot better in conference play. There have been numerous times when he's caught the ball in the corner and I thought "here come's a bad three" but he's taken it to the hole instead.
He's a frustrating player. But he's not as bad as you make him out to be. He has real low lows but also high highs.
