Welcome Mr. John!
Awesome news. Looks like the Class of 2017 (and our future front court) is shaping up nicely.
Yes Sir!! Welcome Theo John!!
Great decision.

Welcome to the MU Family Theo. You are going to do great things on and off the court . In the meantime have a great senior year with your friends .
Welcome to MU, young man. Theo John and Ike Eke should (A) give us lots of fun saying their names and (B) give us welcome size and athleticism. Having two guys the same size to beat on each other can only help both of them.
Welcome to the Marquette family, Theo!
Welcome to Marquette Theo! You will love your time here.
Whap. Leggo!
1. Thrilled to have Theo on board to pair with Ike and our next recruiting success.
2. So much for, "He just finished his Minnesota visit and he's announcing so quick. We're screwed."

I know. When the Wright situation became clear relative to his Dayton visit this past weekend this really became pretty easy to figure out.
His recent quotes make me think he will be a great addition.
Welcome, Theo. Here's hoping you have a great stay in MKE.
He appears to be the kind of 4-5 MU has been unable to land this millennium. 6'9 banger, defender, glue guy. The kind of guy that always seems to dominate against MU.

Welcome to Marquette Theo!
Attached is his announcement from his Twitter page that Matt V. retweeted... (no old guy stalking here!)
I hope Wojo had a very nice visit with the family today. I'm confident there were hugs all around as well as a nice family chat about what it means to be a Warrior and what's expected of him inside the classroom and on the court during his Senior year. Hopefully his schedule will allow him to come for Madness and some games this year. Maybe hang with the fellas some. Bunk with his buddy Sacar.

Great job Wojo and staff. Building blocks!
This is a great interview. Like I have said this the ethic of this Young man is superb. We are getting a very good guy, even if he doesn't work out on the court he will represent the school very well.

Kudos to Wojo and company for making this happen.
I agree with all of these!

I thought I saw that he was going to reach out to DWade directly to ask permission. If Wade explicitly says yes, it would be kind of dickish for the university to say no IMO.

It's kind of dickish for Theo to ask, isn't it? Gotta respect the process of numbers being retired and the accomplishments of DWade in getting his number retired, hey?

Eh. He's a 17-18 year old. He likes the number and perhaps feels he is honoring him.
No. It is a number last worn by a player at MU when Theo was 4 years old. DWade is cool. And it never hurts to ask.
Plus, MU left this door cracked open By saying it is jerseys and not numbers that are retired. You'd think this came up in the recruiting process. Especially since he brought up the policy of retired uniforms. I really hope we don't go through this again.

Agreed. I don't think it's that big a deal but I suspect it'll go away quietly and he'll end up with something like #43. (#43 isn't retired, is it?)

It is. He can have 13, 23, 33, or 53. Unless Jimmy get his number retired.

Wait y'all. Didn't a former coach give out #24, piss off Brute Force, and den bs his way, per usual, by sayin' jerseys were retired, not numbers, hey?

Is it possible to use 03 ?
MU has been so inconsistent here that the existing 'rule' sounds just fine. Protects making the #24 error once again.
Here are the gaff's I see
1. Maurice Lucas number used by multiple players including novak- why did it take until 2006 to retire his 'jersey'
2. 24 seems to be taken by a new recruit once with every new coach
3. 31 retired twice
I am sure retiring 11 sounded good at the time, but it seems silly to take that out of the rotation too.
I would go 8 or 33 if you want 3 but cant have it. 33 because 2 3's, and 8 is like 2 3's hugging 8-)
While we're at it, let's not ignore how dumb it is that the uniform numbers can't include a digit higher than 5.

I didn't realize he is from the same town that my brother and sister-in-law live. (Both Marquette grads BTW.) My brother just said he has a "ridiculous wingspan".

Lucas went pro early. Prior to Wade, I believe MU would not retire a number for a player that did not graduate.

My niece was going to Champlin HS and decided to join her brother at Totino-Grace. My brother & SIL were going to Champlin games, but who knows this season? With TJ committing to MU they may still go watch.

All of them I can understand except for 11. I know the reasoning behind it but it still seems like the silliest thing ever.
