You have the right to free speech. You do not have the right to be consequence-free.
Finally.
I mean he was a terrible broadcaster anyways. Shoulda been fired for his lack of broadcasting abilities tbh.

If ESPN started letting people go based on broadcasting abilities they'd have a hell of a lot more spots to fill.

ESPN's hypocrisy
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/434404/espn-fires-curt-schilling-hypocrisy-liberal-media
"ESPN is openly progressive, celebrating every advance of the sexual revolution, and it has been wildly inconsistent in its discipline for on-air statements. The network stood by an employee who guffawed as Mike Tyson graphically described a black man raping Sarah Palin in an interview. They failed to discipline another employee who compared Tea Party members to ISIS. They issued only a brief suspension to Stephen A. Smith when he argued that women can "provoke" their own beatings. Critically, each of those incidents occurred on the job and not on personal Facebook postings."

Yup. The arrogant hypocrisy of the grand ESPN. Conservative viewpoints not welcome. The Disney family does lots of business in mid east countries where they arrest and execute gays and trannies, but that is OK for their hypocrisy and quest for the almighty $$$$$$$.

Not upset in the least, showing their hypocrisy. Based on past performance, if Schilling made those comments on air and was a minority, he would be fine. Because he did it on his facebook page, well that was a no-no. Interesting double standards.

This wasn't an isolated incident with Schilling. I think this was more the straw that broke the camel's back.
PC has become weaponised; used to bash those with whom we disagree. so much for tolerance or free speach.
the open bathroom situation has become unsettling. heard last night about a girl's team that uses one to change and the story is thst, lately, a guy has shown up while they do. I would have concerns about my daughters as well. put this under the Law of Unintended Consequences

Yup, of course others have had multiple incidents and ESPN has chosen to....... not fire them. Hmmm
ESPN suspended someone who was tweeting out pro-evolution stuff. That likely will not stop the perpetually victimized from feeling victimized again.
People would like to see some consistency in treatment, and that isn't happening.

Is ESPN being inconsistent? Yes. Is it based on politics like you and the rest of the aggrieved class believe? Nope.
I WANT URINALS IN THE DAMN WOMEN'S BATHROOM!
Why in the world would Target do this? You have urinals for male-identifying people with a bozack, but not urinals for female-identifying people with a bozack?
This is nonsense.

What's it based on, since those not getting sacked come from one ideology, those that have been sacked come from another.
Even Olbermann who defied repeated suspensions and issuances from ESPN brass not to do certain things, did them anyway and was never fired. He wasn't renewed, of course neither were many high priced talents at ESPN in cost cutting moves, but he was never fired.

Do you remember Rob Parker from ESPN? He was a black guy, so yes a MINORITY, who was fired for his comments ON AIR regarding RG3's "blackness". It was the rant where he called RG3 a "cornball brother".

Rob Parker....LOL. No one remembers Parker because he was such a non entity. He was also suspended for those remarks...and weeks later a settlement not to return.
So your example was not very good.
Interesting comments with plenty of examples

Hold on.
So ESPN has suspended people with all sorts of political beliefs for expressing them on air or through social media, including Schilling. But since Schilling was fired for being a "repeat offender," this is an example of bias?
Your victimization has once again clouded the ability of your brain to process logic.

Excuse me, but as stated before, some of those "suspended" did far worse and were also repeat offenders, but didn't get fired.
No victimization, you continue to use that word incorrectly. Its showing hypocrisy in how the network reacts.
But hey, the stock is back to $105, and I'm a big investor....so I'm happy....see, no victim.

That's because ESPN is ran by Disney who are on the far left. I like Bellings idea of FS1 hiring Kurt Schilling.
On air media and acting talent has been fired for far less than this.
The biggest mystery here is how Schilling can be surprised by any of this. He was fired for thinking it or saying it, but for angrily announcing it to the entire world. The guy is a sports announcer. If Captain Kangaroo went on TV and started shouting about his political views, he may also would have been fired.

As a Red Sox fan, I don't think game 6 was any more important than games 4 and 5, where the Red Sox came back against Mariano Rivera both times late or game 7 where they actually won the thing. I agree it was a douche move to cut game 6 out, though.

I would argue the defining moment was the Dave Roberts steal. I also think that for as great a visual/moment/phrase the bloody sock was, it's till just one component of one game of one round.
Regardless, getting upset about the choice they made when editing a years-old documentary one time for time constraints on a Sunday afternoon sets a very low bar for what is considered upsetting. You have points about the Schilling situation (I disagree with them, but I get it), but this just seems so irrelevant.
