QuoteTwo top-10 picks soon to announce for Draft - Jakob Poeltl and Henry Ellenson -- deeply involved in agent meetings, getting closer to hires.
When Woj speaks we listen.
Time to fill those shoes now. Interested to see what Wojo has up his sleeve.
Yeah, Woj knows his stuff. Might as well be official...
Oh.
Not buying it. Our guy
JaJuanOnJuan told us he was back:

Henry is back. Rarely post, but I have a very very good source.
No shock. Although I thought there was a .005% chance he'd surprise us and return. Oh well. Good luck, Henry. Knock 'em dead at the next level.

#donedeal
It was an amazing year and one, to be honest, that many on the scoop did not fully appreciate.
Congrats Henry! Good luck! Kill it!
Chad ford has Henry going #5 in latest mock draft from yesterday
Well, I wish Henry all the best and I thank him for choosing Marquette. Go Henry! Take your Golden Eagles wings and soar!

Which means he'll probably go 11 or 12 and then Chad will wipe out his predictions and claim he was right all along.
Yeah because Chad can code.

Unlikely, but maybe he is that talented.
No, I think the most obvious answer is that he made predictions, they were not very good, and his employer (ESPN) decided to change them to support their "expert".

Yeah. Duh. Haven't we known he was gone since the moment he committed?
At least we'll be able to say we've had three lottery picks in our schools history!
HE/WE gowne, ai na?

Yeah, 100% ESPN did it. Which is ridiculous bc Chad is pretty accurate. And pretty connected.

Not quite sure how you draw this conclusion. Wally loves to play basketball, he likely isn't going to play professionally, so why would he give up his last year of eligibility to leave just because his brother's going to make the big bucks?

You're mocking Chad's crystal ball on HE? First you had him staying 2 years (wrong) and you also have him not in the top 10 (which will almost assuredly be wrong). Oh the irony!

Yeah, he's pretty good. Draft Express I like better and performed a little better, at least last year.

They have HE at 9th, but he's been dropping the last month or so. Ford still has him a lot higher. We shall see.

I take the conservative approach and look at the mock draft that has consistently had Henry Lowest.
http://www.nbadraft.net/2016mock_draft
Today he is 18th . He was as low as 22-24 and recently trended to as high as 15.
My sources in the athletic department have consistently said if Henry is in the bottom of the first round he is staying, and if he is in the top 10 he is going. Obviously being in the middle range makes the decision much harder.
I think the best for all concerned would be for him to go to combine and not hire an agent.

You were the guy who said HE would spend four years at Marquette, weren't you? (I apologize in advance if I'm getting you confused with somebody else; unlike some here, I don't keep boxscores that record every single comment.)

Love the approach. Only consult the source that has the best chance of proving you "right". hah.

Not to mention the least respected site.
I remember Sullinger staying at OSU in a similar situation and even little back issues his sophomore year cost him millions and millions.
You really can't take a chance - it might be your only year with guaranteed lottery money.

So you are giving the advice to Henry that he should not hire an agent, and go to the combine based on the mock draft of a less reputable site? Don't you think he has access to much better information than that?
He will hire an agent. He won't go to the combine. He will be drafted higher than NBADraft.net projects.
With the fact that we didn't even make a postseason tournament this year, one has to wonder what was the point of recruiting a one and done. Seems kind of a waste that we recruit our first burger boy in how long and can't even make the tournament. Would be nice to get a guy like Buddy Heild or Niang in our program...four year players who are very good and winners
Henry will get paid big time for sure, and I can't blame him for leaving. However, I am pretty confident in saying he is no where near ready to contribute. He won't be able to guard anybody, isn't super athletic, and doesn't have an outside shot. Will likely sit on the bench for a couple years, and it won't take long for fans to label him a bust
Yes. Lets not recruit McDonalds All Americans that are in Wisconsin. Stupid post. Get a clue.
Are we really now complaining about taking HE and reverse analyzing why the NBA scouts are wrong? Come on, he just had the best MU freshman year in my lifetime and may be on the precipice of getting picked in the lottery. Maybe Cal is right, all the one and dones should go to KY where they are appreciated.
Just enjoy it.

That's my bad I meant top 10 picks but the beers I had registered it as lottery even though the lottery wasn't around yet. So it'd be Wade and Lee along with Henry.

I'm guessing you're one of the many who thought Hank would be good for 6 PPG and 3 RPG this season.
I think Henry is a nice recruiting tool for Wojo. I thought Henry would do well, but he exceeded my expectations. He was fun to watch. I think this at least gets our foot in the door with future One and dones and much more credibility. With a more experienced team in the future we will hopefully also be advertising trips to the tournament too.

If you think this is going to cause more one and dones to look at MU, then I think you might be disappointed. Unless they have a brother who plays basketball...and grows up in Wisconsin. Usually they go blue-blood. And when they go to other schools it usually doesn't create a windfall.
Agree with the comment that Henry is not ready for the NBA as a player. He needs more experience at the "gold blood" competition level leading Marquette to a national title. Who wants to sit on the bench for the next few years instead of playing full time for a title?

You get paid in your second and third contract. Sullinger will make it all back this summer with a new contract.
If one's drive is a guaranteed lottery contract, it sounds like the are being driven by the fear it will be their only NBA contract. They fear they are a bust.
Sure they could suffer if series of Derrick Rose injuries before the second contract. But you cannot let that what if dominant your decision making process. Besides Rose is still in the league getting paid.

So, in other words, he's exactly like most one-and-dones.
