Tip off is Saturday Night at 7PM in Queens (St. Johns). The East coast is supposed to get hit by a monster blizzard starting tonight. NYC is expecting "at least a foot." Washington is expecting "nearly two feet."
Any talk that the game gets postponed?
I hope it is not as it will probably be played in front of 500 people and help take away St. Johns home court advantage.
I don't know?
I have tickets to the game. It's not supposed to be too bad here on the coast of Connecticut (only calling for 4-8"). NYC does have a blizzard warning, but I can always take the train to the City.
Team is scheduled to go, per my source. Watching reports.
60% of St. Johns is Asiatic, they don't show, snow or no snow. The alumni come from the island and will come by train. Is the team in Queens? If so, game on. We had a game like this 10 years ago at Rutgers and 500 showed up, maybe 500, we won.

I had tickets to that game but had to skip the game. No train options to Rutgers.

How true, the arena is in the middle of nowhere.
You could have left at 4AM, gone to Grand Central, shuttled over to the 1,2,3 gone down to Penn Station, NJ TRANSIT to New Brunswick, then walked and missed the game.
Getting to St. Johns will be almost as much fun, good luck.
Take this chit with a grain of salt and don't fly off at da handle. Real dudes don't crap their bloomers 'cuz a little dustin' happens, hey?

Me, too. Couldn't get out of my neighborhood for that Rutgers game. Rutgers coach Gary Waters was on a recruiting trip or something and couldn't get back for the game himself. We did not win the game, which made me feel better about not going.

I'm going to the UConn-Georgetown game in Hartford at noon tomorrow (taking my late college roommate's dad, who is a big UConn fan) and then taking the train to NYC with the Mrs. for the MU-SJU game at MSG. Bad luck to have the snow, especially since we haven't had even an inch yet this winter.

The Milford Metro North station is less than 10 minutes from house. After arrival at Grand Central there are a few options to get to MSG.

Same for me, Stratford Metro North station about 10 minutes from my house. We usually just walk from Grand Central to MSG, it's about a mile, I think.

Yeah, not sure where the talk of the game being in Queens came from. At MSG tomorrow. Be at Mustang Harry's couple hours prior!

That walk is about as safe as it gets. Or you could take the Shuttle to Times Square and then the 1,2, or 3 down to Penn Station.
The team is leaving this afternoon and they fully expect to play the game. However, they were initially planning on returning to Milwaukee on Saturday night after the game, but because of the storm they are staying in NY Saturday night as well.
I can assure everyone that my commute to MSG on the F train from Brooklyn tomorrow in a blizzard will be far less painful than my daily morning commute at 8:30am on that that same train on any beautiful sunny morning in NYC.

Definitely not . You could easily run into a phony hipster who actually works on Wall Street. Or some bridge and tunnel person who is going to Macy's. But it is a lot safer if you're not white- the cops supposedly don't stop and frisk anymore.

Do they get a big per diem in NYC? Milwaukee beers are $20 there.

I don't know about "team," but they had a jai alai fronton, and it was the jewel of Connecticut frontons. I went quite a bit during my younger days, including when I was nowhere near old enough to bet (but they let me anyway).
It was the ultimate fixed sport. In one game, the guy who was supposed to win would be making incredible, acrobatic, diving plays. The next game, the exact same guy would drop the
pelota when it was right in his
cesta. The "sport" was trying to figure out who was supposed to win each match! Sophisticated gambler I was, I just went with my favorite numbers.

I most definitely remember you're from Milford!
I loved going to Jai Alai. My friends and I went all the time. You were allowed in over 18 so it was perfect thing to do before turning 21. All the players were from the Basque region with names like Zabala & Egurbi.
There was an Amateur Jai Alai facility you could rent and play with your friends. I saw a guy catch a pelota in the face and knock out a tooth.
I introduced my Marquette friends to it when they flew out for my wedding. (MU82, Reception at Costa Azzura)
They got hooked and found away to sneak a second visit in between wedding activities. I heard hearts break when I informed them it closed. Killed by Foxwoods & the Mohegan Sun.

Awesome! When I was at MU, I had a girlfriend whose family lived in Miami. We went to the Miami Jai Alai fronton when I was down there. Quite the experience. Fortunately, I was a broke student who had spent all of his money on a plane ticket to Miami, so I didn't have anything to lose!
When I'm in Tampa I always pick up some Jai Alai Beer from Tampa Bay Brewing Company.
I grew up in Trumbull. Still live here. Went to high school in Fairfield. First concert I ever saw was The Tubes at the Bridgeport Jai Alia. Sometime around 1982-1983.
My nephew and I will be there tomorrow...after we stuff our faces in Little Italy.

I remember going to Milford Jai Alai before I turned 18. Never asked for ID. Musta been my beard.
Yeah, I remember those names. They had a couple of Americans, too. I think one was named Alex.
Good memories.
I also remember going to Hartford Jai Alai to see Steve Martin (back when he was funny). The Civic Center's roof had caved in so they held it at the fronton. One of the funniest nights of my young life to that point.
Damn. Jai Alai? Wasn't it fixed? That's worse than betting on the trotters, but at least then you can look at some nice horses. Must not have been much to do up in Connecticut.

Yeah up to 30" of snow is a lot.
They are saying it will be one of the 5 worst snow storms in NYC history.
LIRR closing at 4:00pm.
So by 7PM tonight
* no surface travel in NYC
* no buses in NYC
* No LIRR
Either the game gets canceled or it becomes a TV event in front of about 75 people. How are fans getting to the game?
The subways will still be going and the sidewalks are quite walkable. We are in NYC for the game and are planning to walk to the game.

Tonight's Marquette-St John's game at MSG has been postponed. Still waiting for info on when it will be rescheduled.

Why postpone if the team is staying within walking distance of MSG? Wonder if the home team is the one with travel issues.

My guess is that Marquette probably has the least issues to deal with. St. Johns, MSG personnel, officials, etc. my guess have much greater issues to deal with.
I would imagine that if they have refs lined up, they play on campus tomorrow evening.
MSG is booked, and the SJU women play at home in the afternoon.

Yep - travel ban.
All Broadway shows have been cancelled. The mayor and the governor don't want employees and spectators to get stranded while trying to get to/from work and events.
