Title: Stone - 2nd best freshman in the country?
Post by: brandx on January 06, 2016, 10:43:08 PM
Is Diamond Stone the best freshman in the country not named Ben Simmons.

He has worked his way into the starting lineup of a veteran team that is ranked #3 in the country.

17/7 over the last 8 games. Almost 2 blocks a game. Shooting 61% from the floor. Shooting almost 80% from the line. Not too many non-freshmen with those kind of numbers.

To answer your question, he looks very impressive.  He is on a very good team which allows him to not be *the guy* every day.  So it does make it hard to rank.

I would argue Stone's 39 and 12 vs Penn St is the most impressive freshman performance of the year, up with a game or two of Simmons.

Penn State just isn't the same team without their terrorist (http://onwardstate.com/2015/08/16/d-j-newbill-arrested-on-suspicion-of-terrorism-agent-suspects-racial-profiling/) star PG.
