Is the Milwaukee event a higher profile tournament? It seems like he's been under-recruited so far...maybe he can get some more attention this way.

Why is Gard wasting his time :) Or at least I hope that statement becomes accurate sooner rather than later. Maybe before next summer?
Sam hurt his ankle in a game today... got it taped up and was a little gimpy for awhile, but heated up big time late in their last game of the day. Joey played some with the 17's as well..
So tomorrow...
Wisconsin Academy 16's (Joey's team) play at 10:15am... against a very good D1 Minnesota's 15U squad that is playing up. MU will interest in some of them, including Race Thompson, a big 6'5" forward. His father is a former Univ of Minnesota star RB who also played for some crappy NFL team. Had a daughter who played vb at uw-madison. Ick. Another one to watch on that team is 2018 Gabe Kalscheur from DeLaSalle...
Winner plays in the chip at 12:25pm.
Sam's Wisconsin Academy 17's play Iowa PnR at 9:05am. If they win, next games are at 11:20pm (semis) and 1:30 (championship - potentially against the host team D1 Minnesota 17's and Gopher-commit Michael Hurt).
Also.. D1 Minnesota 16's are playing up... 8am and potential 10:15am games in the gold bracket (they lost today). 2019 (yes) Matthew Hurt (Michael's brother) is a 6'9" F with good scary possibilities going forward. Could* turn out amazing. He's got good length as does 2017 DeLaSalle 6'7 F/W Goanar Mar, who MU is of course familiar with.

Yep. Darrell is at a lot of the games and looks like he could run it from the 2 yard line against NFL teams still, no problem.
So, back to the Hauser kids...
Sam has good size (~6'6") and can shoot, dribble and pass.. well rounded player. See him as a 3/2. Loves the behind-the-back dribble and will often take the ball up the court and school smaller defenders who try to challenge his dribbling. When the ankle was bothering him a bit this weekend, he looked to pass and is an above average distributor.
If I had to compare him to a current Warrior, I might go with Sandy... but Sam is much farther along than Sandy was at this time.
Joey's comp would be Henry... he's not where Henry was at this stage, but some similarities in what they can do at their size (at a high-level)... Joey has a couple inches on Sam and is well built. Still, his upper body isn't where it'll eventually be and as he gains strength it's only going to make him more of a menace.
He can work on the block, he can pop out and knock down the three and he can run the floor and finish quite well. Both he and Sam defend all sorts of players, including small guards... and do so with success. I had Sam at a ~40-70 type range... I could see Joey a bit better.. maybe 25-45ish.. if he works on his strength and just keeps improving though, there is a very high upside for him.
Like Sam, Joey can pass the ball as well. Some well-delivered dishes cross-court.
What might stand out most about both of them is their calmness and confidence on the court. They both look incredibly comfortable. Both do make highlight-reel plays, but even with those there is a unique smoothness and confidence. Under-control. Relative to what many freshmen go through, their transition to D-I basketball may be a little easier for them because of their make-up.
Anyway, very pleased that Sam is a Warrior. Hope to add Joey.
Thank you for the excellent report.

No it doesn't

What????? It totally does!
The only things that need to happen are:
- Sam honors his commitment
- Joey commits
- HE sticks around
- Wally gets the Otule medical eligibility waiver (because of the injury that keeps him out of the olympics)
i'm not sure how this doesn't play out or how you so quickly dismissed the possibility.

Still does not work. Joey will be a soph and Wally is a junior. Even with an extra year it just does not work.

b) i was being facetious. should've gone teal

Would think he'll land somewhere in the 6'8" to 6'10" range, but that's far from a scientific estimate
Recruiting intelligence is what I like best about Scoop. Unfortunately if we don't put a better team on the floor with the recruits we have we won't need to be concerned with the Joeys' and the like in the future.
Respectin' the process, hey?

Nah... dad was also a Green Bay Packer. Race's sister went to uw-madison where she played volleyball. She said at the time, "I didn't want to go where mom (Iowa?) and dad went (Minnesota)"
Darrell is a GOPHER who rocked a badgers bumper sticker on his car in Minnesota.
The "dad went there" thing is usually overdone.
BTW, speaking of Coffey.. his two sisters both went out of state to play basketball... sister Nia is a star at Nothwestern right now (18ppg, 11rpg)

You may not have intended to, but you did. If high-major means a "Duke" type, then there are only 5-6 high-major programs in the entire country. Even at the most minimal definition, every team in the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, SEC, and Pac-12 are "high major" teams.
There's a difference between high major and blue blood, or elite program, but any time you indicate Marquette isn't "high major" you're going to get pushback from Marquette fans.
it was a honest mistake. My apologies.

The above is from 2+ years ago... Joey now a composite #35... may be a bit better... more thoughts to come this weekend
PS- I know some like to say it's ridiculous to crown kids that are young, but there are certainly those 8th graders that you have a HIGH confidence in being a star... from this same thread a couple of years ago... now Top ~5 2019...

I like all of it, but it amazed me how D1 ready Sam was. From the first day, he played competent defense without fouling, could hit threes at this level, and rebound effectively. And not just against the minnows, he had great performances against Vandy, Pitt, and Georgia.
I expect Joey to play differently, but Sam's composure was evident right from the start. If Joey can come in and play with a similar competence from the start, it's scary to think how good next year's team could be, especially as Joey was truly a want and not a need. Sam absolutely hit the ground running and played with a remarkable consistency all year long. If Joey can do the same, but do so while able to supplement the experience we will already have...that's exciting to think about.
