Congrats to her from her biggest fan. ;D

Jen Lada is leaving Comcast Sports Net to join ESPN, where she will be featured as a contributor on Colin Cowherd's radio show.
While her exact role hasn't been determined, Lada said she is looking forward to giving her perspective on issues and news in sports. She got a taste with multiple appearances on the "Kap & Haugh" show on CSN and WGN Plus.
"The great thing about Colin's shows is that they go beyond the surface level and try to figure out why something is happening," Lada said. "I've met with Colin. He's great. We get along really well. This is a great opportunity to mix it up a bit."
In addition to Cowherd's show, Lada also will make appearances on "SportsCenter" and on other ESPN studio shows. She will join the network in August.
Lada said it was a difficult decision to leave Comcast Sports Net. The native of McHenry joined the network in 2013, serving as a reporter and anchor.
"I always dreamed of covering the teams I grew up with," Lada said. "It's also been enjoyable to see my son take a liking to those teams. It took a lot of soul-searching, but this provides me with an opportunity to get better with what I do and to challenge myself in the process."
Hope they have worked on their acoustics.
I don't know who this is but I'm sorry she has to work with Cowherd.
I really like the "Herd" better than most of the Dribble sport talking heads spout. Colin is the closest I found to the late Chris Thomas (Baltimore, Tampa) who balanced humor, insight, and sometime crossing over the company line to express his views. I will always remember he was selected to stay on the air as the 9-11 tragedy was happening. What a calming and intelligent outlook he provided. Thanks Chris.
I think Jen pick a winner with Colin.

Well, we lost a good one to the Death Star. At least Holly Sonders is on our side. She and Greg Norman were about the only bright spots in FoxSports/FS1's US Open coverage. Speak up, Corey Pavin...since 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah, its actually OK to talk during a backswing!
Now, if only FS1 can get Holly to do BigEast halftime interviews :o
Bigger NCAA problem: the Bo Ellis-designed UNTUCKED jersey or Fox sideline reporter attire?
Well, they won't have Jen to kick 'round anymore at them MU tip-off luncheons, hey?

A Golden Moment in the proud if checkered history of Scoop. The Holy Grail of Mischief is to be so outrageous that the target of one's prank is forced to respond publicly. To their immense credit, Scoopers have:
- Compelled Team Tanned Tommy to publicly refute knowledge of a Crean-themed Twitter account reporting a Harbaugh job change (ZFB)
- Brought Myron Medcalf out of the woodwork and actually play into a running meme (Benny)
- Obliged Jen Lada to actually set up a Scoop account to defend her performance at an alumni event (Chick)
These are works of art and should be celebrated as nothing less than sheer genius. I have to think that it is for moments such as these, as well as porn, that Al Gore invented the Internet.
It ran fun to watch Jen on CSN during the Blackhawks run this year. I'll miss her.
I've never heard of that ESPN guy.

I nominate Chick to MC. She can lob those soft ball questions that MU fed Jen last year. Like what is your favorite tie? What attracted you to Marquette? Whay do you like about MU so far? What Polish restaurants do you like? Chick just needs to be sure to wear her pant suit outfit with all the Scoop creeps out there with their Selfie Sticks in tow.

Marquette never allows the spontaneous to happen. Very closely monitored. To bad they can't control (name the PR blow up) as well.

Good point. Last year they did have her perched on a pretty high stool....

I'm no fan of Cowherd, but I am of Jen, this is a great step for her.
Wonder how Colin Cowherd's departure from ESPN will impact Jen Lada's new gig?

Welp at least she doesn't have to deal with that dumbf*ck. And as someone who leads a Cowherd-less existence, I've gotta say it's a pretty good deal she's getting.
ESPN is doing some major clean-up within it's controversial people department:
-Colin Cowheard
-Bill Simmons
-Keith Olbermann
-Jason Whitlock
If I'm Steven A Smith and Skip Bayless I would be a little terrified

Leave it to ESPN to get even more boring. Bayless and Smith can go, but I'm actually a big fan of Simmons and the whole Grantland site.

Grantland good, Olbermann had his moments.
The remaining group of Cowherd, Whitlock, Smith and Bayless are all awful.

Agree completely. Grantland is the best Sports/Entertainment web magazine around.

The Deadspin guys had a interesting talk about this on their podcast last week (Deadcast, a good listen). They opined these 4 guys, yes all very expensive, but they stirred the wrong kind of pots that got ESPN brass upset. They stirred pots that upset commissioners, coaches, players, but also their fellow ESPN colleagues, which the flagship despises.
While other gutter trash like Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless, Chris Bouseard...usually stepped out of line with disparaging remarks about women, gays, or knocks about sports that are not as popular, thus are easier to deal with.

1. Simmons was responsible for 30 for 30 and Grantland. He brought most of the quality content the last few years that wasn't a live game.
2. It's not just who is leaving but who they keep. They are keeping SAS, Broussard and Bayless, which means more content of that kind of trashy sports show. They aren't going start playing playing games at 4 PM or 9 AM, so there are gaps in live-sport content that needs to be filled. Would much rather fill it with shows I don't hate myself for watching.

Deadspin > Grantland
They are completely different types of sites. Deadspin is an aggregator that is oftentimes amusing, but has a few individual works that are OK.
Grantland is more of an in-depth site whose sports reporting is more long-form and in depth on aspects of sport that you don't get from many other places.
Both are good sites IMO, but they aren't really comparable.

Well now Cowherd has been dumped by ESPN early due to dumb comments about Dominican baseball players. Fox picks another winner.

I assume that a firing for cause relieves them from having to pay any severance that they owed Cowherd. If so, what a dumb @$$ he was/is.

Cowherd was offered $5M to stay at ESPN. He left for $6M at Fox. Olbermann has been fired at almost every job he's been at, it is in his nature to be a complete dick.

He gets ratings, enough that ESPN offered him $5M per year to stay. He'll get ratings at Fox, that is why they are hiring him. He's one of those guys you love or hate, but many listen because they love or hate him.

I don't know why you feel the need to explain this to me. I know he gets ratings. I find it embarrassing that he does.
Does anyone know how the move by Cowherd to Fox affects Jen?

To be clear, Cowherd wasn't fired by ESPN. He had a last work day as of July 31 since his contract has run to its end but in light of his comments on DR baseball players they moved it up a week to July 24th.
It also works out very well for ESPN because now they can "look good" whereas if this was said when Cowherd was under contract nothing would happen because all they need are ratings numbers. They don't work in the business of morality tales.
