Title: Providence game thread
Post by: real chili 83 on January 03, 2015, 12:51:08 PM
Nothin' like home cookin' too cure what ails.  So, providence dictates that we continue our streak of a$$ whoopin's on Providence.

Vegas says MU by one. Sign me up for that.

Early call, Juan for SOTG, with a close second to Duwil.

GO WARRIORS!!!!!!

For those with multiple channel options, the game before the MU game on Foxsports South is over, so MU should start on time, whereas MASN seems like it will go over.

I think that is part of the reason he shoots so well though. Smart shots.

We do need to be more aggressive though. A lot of swinging it around resulting in a Carlino shot from Mexico.

Providence with 11 turnovers, they won't do that in second half.

Fischer with two points
Taylor with no points
Carlino with no points, he is 7 for last 29 from field.
Du Wilson didn't play for almost nine minutes, mad bad driving shot, then chucked up a three, Wojo sat him.

Thank goodness Cohen having game of life right now.

With Cohen's performance today, it is inexcusable that he did not see a single second in the DePaul game.  With the way we were/are shooting, we need his shooting ability in the game.  It should be irrelevant that he is a freshman and/or behind defensively the other experienced players.  You play the hot hand, period.

Really impressed with Juan's improvement this year.  He really has embraced being the leader on this team (with Derrick).

On to the 2nd half.

@JBBauer612
#mubb 33, PU 33 at half in ~32 possessions. eFG: 48.4%-61.4%; TO: 19%-32%; OR: 27%-47%; FTR 19%-41%

Former #mubb-target Kris Dunn came in w/a high 26.5% turnover rate. He has 7 (!!) first half turnovers. #Sheesh

Ya it was mind boggling when we couldn't make squat for 10 minutes last game that we didn't just post him on the perimeter.

And even if he is a little behind on D. Just play the damn zone like today. He won't hurt you much at all on that end. Played fine so far today.

The three point shooting last game and this is shocking.  These are wide open threes. I hate when people say this but I could have a better percentage then our combined percentage with looks like they are getting. It is also the reason Luke can be taken out of the game. They make some of those threes and then Luke gets some breathing room and can start scoring again.

And back to the dribbling at top of key. Dribble, pass, dribble then 5 seconds to shoot.

MU was up 12 with 9 to go. Let's see if they can hold on to this one.

We're going to need to shoot well from the line the last 8 minutes.  56% isn't going to cut it.

47.1% eFG% though. Not as bad as the 6/17 looks. (btw, definition of volume shooter wouldn't have anything to do with points)
