Stretch Hummer tour of the city? Reenact Jesus Shuttleworth's tour of Big State? Kegger at the Kensingston?
Whatever he's been doing has seemed to work pretty well.
On that note, what happens on an official visit? Hang with the coaching staff? Get a campus tour? Meet some professors? Scrimmage with the team? Spend the night at a local hotel?
Always been curious.

All kidding aside, don't be shy about posting whatever you were going to post.
maybe he has the same Hostesses that Lane Kiffin used at UT
I saw TJ Pugh at Angelos on his visit. He ended up at Kansas. We ended up with Bargen.
I wish Wojo would have asked me. I had a great idea. Walk into the Bradley Center with the lights off a spotlight shines on the retired numbers and a banner unfurles with Henry's name and number on it and Wojo simply says, "You could be a legend here." and walks out.

Ooo, I got another one. When they walk through the AL when they go through the tunnel with all of the former MU players in the NBA you get as many as you can to stand next to their picture and have Henry stand with them at the end of the line. Man I should get into recruiting
Every coach is different. Down here in Aggieland, Kennedy tries to sell them with football. Go to the games, go to midnight yell, tries to get it into the recruit's head that if TAMU rises to prominence, they will have the same level of support. Basketball players can also use some of the football facilities http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU4NXtu2T5E.
Izzo apparantly plays dodgeball.
Coach Cal uses his facilities, big blue madness, and his long history of success with one and dones.
I don't know what Wojo does specifically, but the gist I have gotten that is about relationships. He tries to make the player feel like they are already at home when they visit. Wojo's method is the most powerful, IMHO, but it only works if the player truly feels like they belong there.
I think Wojo's got this one.

Relationships and family are good things to push to the forefront when your 2015 roster is gonna have his brother and the guy he listed as the player from his current AAU team he'd most like to play on a team with.
Hope to see NickN and Heldt hanging around this weekend as a welcoming committee (which I'm pretty sure NickN has already assumed the mantle of).

Ellenson had an unofficial visit earlier this year when he came down for the team camp. He met the President of the University etc. then. I think he would be shown around by Duane , practice with the team , get to know the assistants some more, maybe meet Lovell again and hear all the things he is doing etc . I think the entertainment piece is less because his brother is here and can relate all of that to him. It should be a trip that reinforces all the reasons why he wants to come here.

I'm not one to ever critique posts or get in fights on here, but this is so stupid.
This is the furthest thing from "slightly altered" and the fact that you try and equate the two is absurd.
Go out and try to find a Women's Soccer or Women's Volleyball message board anywhere where people give a flying unnatural carnal knowledge about a program's goings-on (which is the whole basis of this topic, seeing as adults see what recruits/players are up to via social media).
I'm a current student and follow most guys on the team, so I also saw Duane tweet this last night. Also saw Noskowiak tweet how cool it was playing with Novak and Jabari today. Etc. So I always appreciate when someone who also sees these things shares it with the board. I mean, the thread reads "Any idea what Wojo has planned for Ellenson's visit?" for Christ sake.
Most of the posts on here about what recruits and current players say on Twitter are from students/recent grads I would guess. I have no issue with older fanatics who are also on social media relay what a player or recruit says. Call it creepy if you want, but I say it's rather harmless when it's a simple Twitter search away. Now, what I do have a problem with and think is one of the worst parts of recruiting are when grown men/women/even students beg and plead for a recruit to join their school while mentioning said recruit in the same tweet. I think a lot of that has died down on Marquette's end and most tweets are amongst fans regarding a recruit.
Chico's, I enjoy what you bring to the board for the most part but this was stupid.

I said flip the script...follow 18 year old women's soccer team or volleyball team....they're still a Marquette team...are they not?
To each their own, I find it creepy to be following a bunch of teenagers at the individual level, regardless if they play for MU men's hoops, MU women's soccer, or 18 year olds in general. If you started following Goose's daughter on twitter (she's on the soccer team per Goose), that would be a little creepy to me. Why is it any less creepy to follow the same aged kid just because he's a guy and on the men's hoops team? Again, to each their own....I'll wait until they hit the pros, are out of college, etc.

Free country, to each their own.
In my view, it's a lot different following the TEAM (a collective unit) on a message board or facebook or twitter, than it is following individuals on their own at that young age. To each their own, but if it's ok to follow 18 year guys on the MU hoops team, why would there be ANY hesitancy whatsoever to follow an 18 year old female player on the women's tennis team? Both play for MU, both have twitter accounts, both are student athletes......yet it is creepy as hell to follow one, but not the other. I'll stick to not friending or following any individual that can't have a beer legally.

Nothing creepy about that Sultan. In fact, most kids these days WANT to get followers on Twitter - and I have ZERO doubt the basketball recruits being courted by high major D-1 basketball and football programs have tons of followers from all kinds of schools fan bases - including adults in those fan bases.
Kids view Twitter largely as being a medium to build their own brand...and the more awareness of them, the more of a "brand" they have.

How about a golfer or tennis player, male or female, who turns pro at 15 or 16? Is it OK to follow them on Twitter because they are pros or is it still creepy?
How about an actor or actress who is in his or her teens? Can a non-creep follow them?
Does it make a difference if they get a paycheck? And if so will it be "less creepy" to follow college kids when they start getting paid?
I guess I'm wondering where the line is.
I have never tweeted, nor have I ever followed a tweeter. It's not something that interests me. But as I understand it, a person who tweets - especially a person in the public eye - basically is saying, "Hey! Look at me!" Or is that not true?
I'm not trying to be a wise guy about any of this. I wouldn't follow a tweeter but based on my limited knowledge of the medium, I guess I don't see why it would be "creepy" to follow somebody who seemingly is begging to be followed. I mean, it's not like the follower is showing up at the followee's front door.

I like the move by Wojo. You can't out-Kentucky Kentucky. If you try, you will lose. You go with the our team is a family approach and hope that it sticks with the recruit.

Just returned from a long weekend in the Nizwa area of Oman. The word at the Nizwa Souq and the staff at the Nizwa Fort is that Henry is still a strong Marquette lean. When I asked how strong a lean I was told I can "Book It". From this side of the world it looks like a "Done Deal".

The only thing creepy would be that you are that interested in MU women's tennis. If you are then follow her I guess, to each his own. This board revolves around mens basketball so that's what people are interested in following.
Long time lurker that never posts, Chicos normally your answers are intelligent and you are one of the better posters for me to read. Trying to compare mens basketball to women's tennis though just blows me away. I hope they do well but I'm not going to waste time following them on a message board out of season. Different animal you are dealing with.
And whoever said would it be creepy to follow a female teenage actress, it would be.

The ice cream truck picture just cracks me up - love it because it is so atypical of what you would normally see as part of a kids recruiting trip. It's a little corny, yet it is different and there is a sense of nostalgia and feel good that goes along with a visit to an ice cream truck.
One thing that strikes me about this picture and others I've seen of large numbers of the team - they seem genuinely happy. Think some good chemistry is forming, and think the new staff and their straightforward approach, along with their experience playing the game at a high level are really paying dividends.
I can't wait to see how the team fares this year - and I especially look forward to not having to sit through manic substitutions with no rhyme or reason. Strongly suspect Wojo will have a consistent 8-9 man rotation with everyone knowing their role and what to expect. Wojo is far too level headed to be all over the place in the way he coaches.

I'm well aware of what 18 to 22 year old kids want. This just in, we're not 18 to 22 year old kids, we're supposed to be making decisions based on different standards. 18 to 22 year olds want a lot of things and think in a lot of ways that change once they get a little older, wiser, etc.
I'm also quite aware of how social media works, especially in my new gig where it is critical.
Sultan is a creep for calling out my wife, then my dad.....no wonder he is a UW football fan, UW fans have a strange past of attacking parents and siblings of MU recruits so why would it be different for Sultan to do that of posters. Totally classless...that's what makes him a creep. Not one apology either. Pathetic. His comparison of his son's ex girlfriends in which his family has relationship is absurd.
I just hope no one here is stupid enough to tweet our recruits...it is a NCAA violation. Will they do anything...unlikely, but it is against the rules regardless.

It's classic Chicos. Reminds me of some kids I've worked with. Instigate quietly, instigate quietly, instigate quietly, then someone finally responds in a way that he can twist it and turn it to make that person look like a jerk even though everyone, including Chicos, knows it's not anywhere near what was intended. Then comes the "Oh help, look at poor old me, I'm the victim, Sultan just attacked me, my family, my loved ones! Someone, do something, help me!"
These kids I worked with were teenagers who were neglected and abused. Chicos talks about growing up, maturing, becoming wiser, and making adult decisions yet still plays the victim after instigating for months.

I don't follow any current MU players on Twitter, and personally am very inactive on Twitter. However, in my limited Twitter life, I did add a few MU guys..perhaps a few while they were still at MU and a couple after MU. I thanked Buycks for his efforts at MU and wished him well in his pursuit of an NBA career. He replied - and said something to the effect of Thanks, much appreciated. Just a simply token of appreciation for the guys who have worked hard at MU. Perhaps I'll have to send one to Derrick and also apologize for being so critical. :)
As you said though, to each their own - and if that is the case - you really shouldn't pass judgement on those adults who choose to follow some of our players. The players don't have to accept the follow...they can decline as they like...
And with regard to tweeting at recruits (I don't do that), yet though it may be a violation in the eyes of the NCAA - they can't do jack as far as enforcing it, as they can't place blame on a university as to the individual actions of its fans...zero way they can enforce it. MU will do its part as it can by simply sending out e-mails, etc., to remind its alumni of the policy - yet beyond that...nothing MU or any other school can do.

Sorry, Chicos, but this represents a fairly typical Chicos-type response.
Where in my comment did I mention friending somebody on Facebook? I didn't. In fact, I am a middle-school basketball girls basketball coach and at our very first practice I told my girls not to friend me on Facebook because I wouldn't accept due to the inappropriateness of it.
But Facebook isn't Twitter. The way I understand Twitter, a person, be he or she 10 or 110, sends out a post and hopes to be followed by the masses. Not just his/her friends and relatives, but hundreds or thousands or millions of strangers. That seems to be the very objective of it, especially when we're talking about public figures.
You kept maintaining it was "creepy" to follow a basketball player on Twitter even though basketball players are VERY public figures who seem to be tweeting for the sole purpose of being followed.
I simply wondered where the line was by asking if it was "creepy" to follow a 16-year-old pro tennis player or actor.
And rather than addressing my point, you rambled on about friending an 18-year-old volleyball player on Facebook.
Look, I think it's "creepy" to be a stalker or a peeping Tom or a dirty old man (or woman) ... but that doesn't have anything to do with my legitimate question about where we draw the line with Twitter, either.
Anyone worried that Henry had tweeted "great visit" last Sunday following his MSU trip, but has remained silent on his MU visit?

The rule on this board should be if you can't contribute to the topic, start your own separate thread. Sure, we might miss some discussions on boat shoes or whose wife is a liar, etc but it will make it much easier for those only interested in MU hoops to obtain info in an orderly fashion.

Twitter can be utilized as a "read only" type of service if you wish to follow only, but you can also respond to a tweet back to the tweeter, thus making it two way communication. This is why the NCAA has a rule about tweeting a recruit. You can follow, but you can't tweet a perspective recruit. Again, too each their own. The other poster is correct, however, just ignore. I have plenty of people on ignore. Because they are almost never quoted, I never have to read their stuff. Pretty simple...technology...crazy....even for older gentlemen.
To be fair, it takes some effort to avoid your posts.

Put on ignore, it is very easy. I must have 15 guys on ignore and it is very easy to skip what they write because it doesn't show up. Condenses the page quite nicely.

Quote. If I'm not on ignore for those people, they see it. Your 19k+ posts make it very hard for to actually avoid the arguments you stir. Look, I'm actually not meaning this negatively but saying someone "seeks out" your posts is a bit much in my view.

Oh, Lenny very much does and has admitted in the past he can't put me on ignore. Something about a siren song, love trist or car crash....he very much can't avoid it. Basically I say night and he has a problem with it and calls it day.
The number of posts has nothing to do with it when 99.99% of those happened over the past 7 years.

Dear Mods,
Please do some "carpet bomb" styling bannings. I think several people are in need of a time out. I will volunteer to go with them if need be, I know I've contributed in the past.
Thanks,
A concerned scooper
No need to give yourself up like that TAMU.

Food for thought, perhaps.
When I read that you have 15 people on ignore, my first thought was; "And yet he stills has so many posts to reply to..."

Must be very affirming for you to read page after page on Scoop with nothing but your own brilliant musing on them. LOL
So other than the ice cream truck, what do you think the team did at Wojo's house?

Here's the Chico playbook regarding the ignore function:
1.Become "outraged" at another poster
2.Demand a public apology, restating that poster's "sin"
3.When no public apology ensues, restate that poster's sin and announce to all that henceforth that poster will be "ignored"
4.When someone invariably quotes the offending poster, thank the person quoting him, remind the board that you have the quoted person on "ignore", further remind the board of the terrible thing(s) the poster did to warrant your "ignore", then respond to the ignored person anyway through the intermediary who quoted him
5.Repeat #4 over and over and over again
It isn't really an ignore at all, it's a vehicle that affords you the opportunity to perform soliloquys on your outrage and victimhood.
What sort of impact do you think Wally will have on Henry's decision?

This. I'm curious about the developments over the weekend. Any news on whether he is coming to our madness this year as well as UK?

Sorry but to actually find anything out on the topic this is probably not a good place to look. For whatever reason Chicos is allowed to turn every thread into his own personal demented playground and destroy the topic of every thread. A troll in sheepsclothing worse and more destructive than any Badger fan could ever be.

I've been somewhat curious about this. I mean yes he can add some intelligent insight into certain threads but on a very frequent occasion is allowed to turn threads into "his own personal demented playground" maybe it's just me but I feel as though many of us lesser posters would be forced on hiatus if we did some of the stuff he does.
Psychological question....even with technology these days, it is extremely unlikely for us to "know" how Ellenson's visit went and we'll know if it went well when he commits or he doesn't, yet we always have threads about how did the visit go? How does that work exactly? I'm as guilty as the next person of wanting to know things right away but it just seems so absurd to worry about, why do this to ourselves?
Oh and as far as the whole twitter debate....why wouldn't you follow people on twitter if there was some sort of benefit? The creepy part is what you do with it not actually following the person.

I believe the rest of the board is equally dumbfounded. In fact, change the name to "Badger" and how many of his 20,000 posts would have earned him a ban? Im not the powers that be, apparently they view constant thread destruction as value added for the board. Frustrating. I find myself on the other boards and never did in the past for this very reason. (he has been kicked off the other boards)

TAMU: Why ask the mods to to control the dialog? Your can exercise self control with the ignore feature, or just not replying.
The threads do get hijacked, but typically there are multiple folks replying for each Chicos post.

That's why I asked for a carpet bombing of bannings. Not just the serial derailers, but also the serial responders to the serial derailers. Frankly, as annoying as some of Chicos posts can be, reading the dozens of responders who feel the need to attack each post are even more obnoxious. I say shoot them all and let the mod gods sort em out.

Because it still ruins a topical thread for people trying to get some info. It might be recruits and their family checking how the MU community views a perspective player, and then they see crap like this. It's always the same people, so if you're a regular and know who they are putting them on ignore helps clean things up a little bit. But it still screws up the thread and makes it unreadable with all the quotes. And if you're not a regular, you wonder what the hell is going on in this mess. It would be nice if everyone could control themselves and not reply, but obviously they can't.
Stuff like this reflects much more poorly on smaller private schools like Marquette, where a higher percentage of the posters are actual graduates. At big state schools, you assume a lot of the fans didn't actually attend the school, so you expect them to have more idiots.
I am already nostalgic for the week Chicos was banned. All of the threads were readable.
All of you nerds realize that you're derailing a thread by complaining about people derailing a thread, right?

I'll volunteer to being (in your mind's eye) one of those "even more obnoxious" than Chico, but nearly every regular poster has had their run ins with him. So in the future when you're calling people out at least say which ones you do and don't deem guilty and fit for that noose. Thanks.
