Possibly they forgot to turn on the switch? No one does repair work after 5:00 PM in the A,T&T center? There has to be a good story behind this one.

reminded me of games in the old Boston Garden ... some of the NBA Finals back in the 80's were played under rather uncomfortable conditions in that place, which had no A/C (and the Celts didnt provide A/C to the visitor's locker room)
Was the visitor's locker room painted pink too?

Ah, the old "Astro-dome ploy". Very clever.
Conditions are the same but people are not. Much of San Antonio's team comes from a warmer climate. I know for myself I ran year round and always beat better runners from Northern Europe in the summer and lost to them in the winter races. Many who move to different climates in the world will notice a major impact on their performance. There is some adjustment over time to weather but it is not complete even after years of adjusting through training. I know some will argue this but it is one of several changes in a race that can impact runners depending on training and experience.
Best part is the reason for the outage. A bad circuit breaker that they did not replace since they did not know what the impact would be on the other circuits in the building. A rather embarrassing explanation.
Have fun arguing.
Was there for the first round of the NCAAs this year. What a dump that place is. I thought it was 20+ years old. Turns out it is fairly new. Horrible neighborhood, tight hallways, no real amenities.
The NBA can boot Sterling within minutes of the illegal recording being released, but cannot get the air conditioning fixed at an arena quickly. It is all about PC priorities.
Probably just needed an air filter change. That's what I do at home when the mf'er ain't coolin' properly.

Yeah, you must mean racist as in Barkley, Cuban, Iverson and so on. When people start getting the boot for private stupid statements made in their own abode then something is wrong. And it was not the fans that had to play the game. Point is PC is most important, regardless of due process. Cuban says stupid stuff frequently but that is OK.

When you are the owner of an NBA team, nothing is private. You don't want to be fired for making comments that will embarrass the organization you own? Don't make them in the first place.
It's pretty simple. Don't say racist stuff to your mistress over the phone and you won't be forced to sell your NBA team for $2B.

Dehydration can be much more serious then the media has suggested. It would not be a joke if things went south. Suggest not pushing your luck. It can get very, very ugly.

To be fair, dehydration shouldn't be an issue during a basketball game. They have gatorade at the bench the entire game. It is about 2 hours total.
They have half time where they can hook up an IV.
No one should be getting dehydrated in those games, if they are it is their fault for not listening to trainers, or the trainers fault for being inept.

Sterling was booted within minutes? Hyperbole - the refuge of those who instinctively know that their outrage over a situation is totally out of scale with what they are complaining about.

I prefer Powerade Zero to all the others of that ilk.
As a fan who doesn't root for either team, I also prefer LeBron be playing rather than sitting on the bench because I happen to enjoy watching the greatest player in the world and one of the 10 greatest (5 greatest?) of all-time.
If the Spurs do better than the "Heat" when it's warm, maybe the American Airlines Arena crew should set the thermostat at about 55 degrees for game 3.

Every one deserves due process...in a court of law.
We live in a capitalist society. That means when an owner makes embarrassing comments that could financially harm an organization, the organization can take steps to remove that owner with little oversight. Capitalism at it's finest.

Thank you. The first amendment applies to governments infringing on rights of speech. There is no government involvement in this case whatsoever. A private enterprise chose to punish someone for saying something stupid (and it's not like it's the first time, it's an extended pattern of behavior). Just because you have the freedom to say anything you want, does not mean there are not consequences outside of the governmental sphere. As usual, willie has no idea what he is talking about.

I would agree with you if his comments were made publicly. He is a probably a racist old goat and I have zero sympathy for him, but I personally would hate to be fined and forced to sell my most precious asset based on the worst thing I've said in a private conversation. It's going to work out well for him, as $2B is nice consolation, but I really don't like the idea of private conversations where no criminal activities are discussed having such repercussions.

To me it's not about right or wrong. It's about business. If you have an owner who is caught making racist comments, whether they are public or just made public, it is bad for business. If you are that high up the chain you sacrifice certain personal rights.

Agree 100%. Business owners and high level execs often get amazing wealth, priviliges and perks...but with that comes life under a microscope. I'm guessing most Fortune 500 companies would fire their CEOs for making batantly racist statements, public or not. And like with Sterling's $2 billion consolation prize, many would walk away with nice severance packages. It comes with the territory.

Sterling isn't going to jail.
If you are a fan of private enterprise like most conservatives claim to be, you will respect the NBA's right to remove someone from the association they deem detrimental to their business.
You are making a fool of yourself.
Not sure what air conditioning Miami and LJ have to do with Sterling and the Clippers. You may wish to start a separate post on a different topic.

And so are you sir by stating that I am a conservative without knowing me. I do not respect the right of someone to remove somebody without a hearing, evidence and due process. What the NBA did was remove somebody based on a recorded private conversation. Based on what you have stated, then you must support that notion for removing anybody from any association. A very slippery slope. Removing somebody from a union based on a private conversation; removing a police officer based on a private conversation; removing a military person based on a private conversation; removing a member of the NAACP based on a private conversation; removing a member of a Chamber of Commerce based on a private conversation; removing a PGA member based on a private conversation; etc., etc., etc. Surrender all your rights at the door. No excuses accepted, except based on who you know or are related to. I guess with my feelings stated here I could be categorized as a progressive, rather than a conservative. Maybe common sense should prevail rather than "mob" rule.

Again Willie, we live in a capitalist society. There are almost no rights in the private industry. There are contractual rights but the Bill of Rights does not apply. Unless you want to move to a communist society where the government and the economy are intermingled, you can't expect these protections to exist.
So to answer you question, yes, I'm okay with most of those people being removed based on making racist that they thought would remain private. Well, all the ones that were jobs in the private sector.

Dopes who say racist and other idiotic stuff in emails -- foolishly thinking the emails are private -- are fired all the time after their bosses read the emails.
Not even a scintilla of sympathy for that old racist dirtbag. If he got hit by a bus tomorrow, the world would be better off.

willie....
It is a contract issue between two private entities. The contract they agreed to determines the relationship and when and how it may be severed. It has nothing to do with "due process" other than both parties must abide by the contract.
So please stop using Constitutional terms that simply do not apply to this case.
