Seems to be a great deal of that around here and anyone who defends him is apparently a slurper.
In the tournament 5 of 6 years. 1 elite eight, 2 sweet sixteens. People are saying he tanked this year.
Really? Going into the last week of the season Marquette was still clinging to NCAA hopes and lost 2 games in Double OT. Quite the elaborate plot.
This team was not that talented. Blame Buzz for that but not for tanking. As far as the sleaze factor, con man criticisms. I don't disagree. But guess what, our new coach's former boss is one of the biggest con men in college basketball. Duke cheats, everyone cheats. It's part of college athletics and to think otherwise is naïve. I appreciate Buzz for what he did. MU reached heights we hadn't reached in years. I appreciate the memories. Not sad to see him go but if you don't think Wojo will be bending rules like his boss, you are kidding yourself.

A brave first post. You are to be commended for not playing the "I'm a first time poster here"' card.

Don't give him any ideas!
I've tried reading many of the posts supporting Buzz, but find it difficult, not because of the content, but rather due to the fact that many of the posters refuse to use carriage returns to make their text actually legible.
Anybody referencing the legendary 6'4 left handed shooting guard is OK in my book.
I used to post here but stopped a long time ago. Just a Marquette season ticket holder hoping for the best. Enjoy this board, Dodds board is a joke. Buzz drove me crazy this year but I don't think he tanked. I had more issues with Mayo's playing time than the freshmen. Basic point is that coaches are snake oil salesmen. Will Wojo better represent the University? Probably. Will he nudge players out the door? Yep. Will things happen that are covered up? Yep. How will we view this hire in 5 years if we struggle on the court? Will we be happy because he represented the university better than Buzz? Anyway, yes #4 Benny Moore was one of the few bright spots during my years at Marquette.

Don't worry... Chicos wrote the book on the topic. You're not going to teach him anything new.

Here's the thing. What is now being said about Wojo is what was being said 6 years ago about Buzz. Many were fed up with Crean. They just held their tongues while he was our guy. Lots of stories came out. Now there are lots of stories about how terrible Buzz was but everybody held their tongue. If WoJo does turn out to be the next coach at Duke, there will be horrible stories about how he never truly bought in. Just another part of the process.

Where is that Sultan? Has he made any appearances lately or is he on Ganzers site? Someone who posts as much as he does needs an outlet somewhere ;D

Shhhh don't wake him
He posted recently on IWB's free site, but I have a feeling he is spending the $7 per month and restricting himself to the premium board.

I'm kind of bummed he doesn't come here anymore. I disagreed with him probably 80% of the time, but I thought he was engaging at least. If he didn't come back after Buzz left and the Wojo hire, I'm guessing his vacation is permanent.

Scoopers never stay away forever. Sultan will be back, for better or worse.
Dude was smart and definitely contributed to the board, could have done without his condescension though.

Too much crow to eat right now--waiting to let it die down, and then it will be "I believed Buzz, he was shafted by the University, he just had a bad year. You people cannot realize that Buzz was playing the guys that gave the team the best chance to win" "Freshmen can't learn Buzz's system, unless he is Kevin Durant. Derrick was a gamechanger and an elite defender, as Buzz said. That was his way of motivating him." etc.
I've seen some say that Brazzer tanked but I don't think that's the case. I do wonder if he sandbagged this year by, as others have speculated, playing certain players or not playing certain players, whether due to personal differences or to try to prove a point that his way is the only way. And I think that believe, that he sandbagged, is reasonable given a few things that have come out since he left.

This season was so bizarre in so many ways, I've tried to think of so many logical reasons for some of the rotations and minutes distributions but I haven't come up with any that make much sense. In the end, I think Buzz has some mental demons to deal with and those manifested themselves on the court and in the locker room this year. Pretty apparent he damaged some relationships in the process. Probably a good time to make the split between the two parties, wish it could have ended differently.

Isn't "sandbagging" as you put it by playing inferior players over others, because of stubbornness a form of "tanking"

Well said. Best for both parties to move on. Quite evident he lost a majority of the team this past season - and to no one's surprise - as he was ALL over the board with his substitutions/rotations, etc.
What I'd really like to see is some quotes from Davante - seems he's been entirely silent on the whole matter. Perhaps he's just going with the: If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all mantra.

To be honest, I dont think Davante cares about the matter all that much. Hes probably just planning his trip to Europe.

Yes, that is true. Then there are also the major differences, as well.
1) Crean wasn't forced out \ left for one of the worst jobs in a major conference, he left for a blue blood which is a normal career arc
2) Crean didn't crap on the conference, the TV network, etc in his departure
3) MU didn't want Crean out, MU had no problem with Buzz leaving....there are reasons (many) why. I'm not sure why this is so damn hard for people to process around here
Wojo is going to leave some day, they all do. Let's hope like hell he doesn't act like Buzz did or his departure will be sooner rather than later.
