Howland has to be priority #1
I don't know, one thing that concerned me about that SI article was that BH is apparently a ridiculous control freak - yelling at assistants and team managers for things like the temperature in the film room or how cold the water bottles are. Maybe its not all true but if he turns out to be another arrogant eccentric type we could have another falling out in a couple years.

Well, it seem a somebody doesn't. Could be Lovell, Cords, BoT, who knows. Couple possible scenarios....1) they are in fact, not interested for whatever reason(s), or 2) there is mutual interest and he is content to allow the to get through all the dances, due diligence, make sure the world knows they looked at minority candidates, etc. if MU passes on him, he could likely go to WF tomorrow.
The more I think about it, the more I think I may be onto something with this LaVall Jordan thing. Not my pick necessarily, but might be my prediction.

Frozena actually runs MU basketball via Dick Strong.

I would have to think someone high up does not want him. What appears as obvious choice to many on here appears to be met by Resistance at MU. Have to say I thought he was logical pick it no Shaka.
Like I said earlier, if Ben was gonna be our next coach then he would've been hired a few days ago.

MU has always gone with the up and coming younger guy. They obviously have someone or multiple people ranked above Howland on their list. Most likely, this person is still in the tournament. Next week will be interesting after we have 12 teams ousted from the tourney. Perhaps the rumor mill will pick up again, come Monday. If not, then we can assume the target is in the final four.
So, just to get things straight, there are "higher-ups" that do not like Ben Howland (who has consistently proven to be a winner and led teams to several Final Fours), and actually prefer a Brian Wardle or Cuonzo Martin (who has yet to prove to be a consistent winner/recruiter at higher levels)?
Excuse me while I go bang my face against the wall. ::)

If you take a moment and step outside the batshit insanity of Scoop, this coaching search gets no play in the public consciousness. I talked to a basketball coach last night here in Jersey and he didn't know Shaka was a possibility. People outside the fanbase rarely pay attention until a name is announced on the bottom line of a certain four letter network.

How does one make a billion dollars? Answer, by zigging when everyone else zags. By going left (or right) when the world goes right (or left). By doing these differently and taking the risk and willing to be lonely as no one thinks it will work.

He's been banned from the industry for "market timing" trades. Eliot Spitzer (aka client number 9) brought him down.
He lost most of his money and then started baraboo and made most of it back.

That's not true. He had an offer to sell Strong Capital for close to $1.0 billion from a firm in UK. This pre-dated the Spitzer stuff. Post Spitzer, he had to sell and Wells Fargo was the buyer. I have heard the number was around $600 million.
I have Strong Fund college 529s or whatever they are now. Locally, Ameriprise was the only selling when my kids were born. I know they morphed to Wells Fargo, then ING and now ING is changing names again.

Amen.
Dick Strong should be the spokesman for Viagra.

I think Martin would leave Tennessee in a second no matter what happens in the tournament.
Yep. Cause he isn't that good a coach.
The gentleman deserves our profound respect for his support of Marquette Basketball. Without it Marquette is a bigger St. Nobert's.

Depends...!

48 hours ago, nobody mentioned Martin with the Marquette job.
Then Jason King sent out this tweet:
Not saying he's the No. 1 guy, but don't be surprised if Cuonzo Martin's name surfaces in the Marquette coaching search.
Now, based on nothing more but conjecture here, he's the the current favorite.
Scoop gets loopier by the hour.
Goodman has mentioned a mystery candidate still coaching and Martin I think is at least a possibility.
Not sure if it's Strong or MU, but Howland is not the next priority. However, this is coming from the same source that said Shaka was coming, so yeah.

Martin being a possible mystery candidate is quite a bit different from Martin being the current favorite.
For all I (we) know, MU loves Martin. But there's been nothing even hinted at to indicate that's the case.
Better name:
Dick Strong or "legendary" race car driver Dick Trickle?

I'd sure rather have the former.
Just think about starting a date with "Hi, I'm Dick Trickle." :-\

If Cuonzo is Marquette's (current) favorite, do we root for or against Tennessee? Do we want him hired sooner or experience more success?
If Cuonzo is Marquette's current favorite, we have WAY more to worry about than whether Tenn wins tonight.
Any idea how much Dick Strong has donated to MU? Is he a six figure annual donor?

The most... So more than $51million that the Missouri couple gave to MU?

Another SNL skit waiting to be written. Dick strong and Dick Trickle go into a bar looking for chicks..............
Let's take it easy on the jokes, we don't want Dick to get all bent out of shape.

That's right. But whatever Dick Strong wants, Strong Dick gets. Dick Strong is not one to deny himself. And frankly, why should he?
